And you're a VERY special person! Thank you so much for the windchimes..they're beautifu!!! I've already hung them and they are "singing a song upon the wind"!! Your thoughtfulness and kindness will be remembered always!!

Jenni sent me some beautiful windchimes, along with the beautiful poem "Song on the Wind"! I've read the poem and have used it myself in the past, but to be on the receiving end of such kindness touches my heart to the core!!

Thanks again Jenni!! Love you!!!!!

For those of you that aren't familiar with the poem, here it is.

Song on the Wind
Take these windchimes that I give you,
Hang them high up in a tree
Let the melody remind you,
Of the spirit that is He
He would have wanted song,
To come and fill your days
He would surely bring you laughter,
If there was any sort of way
If he could, he'd grin that grin of his,
That crinkled up his eyes
That somehow owned a twinkle,
He never could disguise
There's nothing to replace,
The one you knew and loved
But you can listen for his song of joy,
From the chimes hung up above.
When you hear the wind pass through them,
You'll hear a happy sound,
The notes will fill your heart,
And you'll know that he is around
Take these wind chimes that I send you,
Let their music fill the air
Let them sing a song upon the wind,
And feel him standing there

It's kind of embarassing, but ever since the accident I've been too terrified to drive. I'd just rather not. I'm not the most experienced driver I don't even have my lisense, but even so I would still drive to the store or help with moving or whatever. To be honest, I think riding in the car is the most dangerous thing I do and even that scares me. I never had such a phobia before Dan was killed. He drowned after he jumped off a cliff, but I still feel aprehensive about motor vehicles. Get going fast in one, on the freeway or something, and I'm accutely aware I'm in a possible deathmobile. One move by a drunk driver and it's all over, perhaps quite greusomely, you know? I've always sort of felt that I could kill myself behind the wheel. But it never bothered me to this extent before now. I think it's because I'm the last child my mother has alive, and any risks I take from now on (even mundane ones =\) will make me feel this way. I had to drive for 4 hours in the wake of receiving the news. The tears made it very dangerous. I hope if anyone gets overwhelmed in the car, they would pull over, just as you would if you get tired. Pull over and cry...

Reminds me of the neighborhood my Keebler Cottage was in. I love well cared for homes from that vintage. I drove by my former home several years again and was devastated to see that the exterior at least was not being maintained. I was literally sick and just cringed any time I thought about it. The garage (which had an attached in-law/quarters/studio) looked like you could blow it over. Drove by earlier this year and the current owner had torn down the garage and made some changes, but it looked loved. I hope they maintained the character on the interior. Butternut, you have a lot of work both done and undone on the new home, but you are going to make it your own. Just stay true to what you love and it will happen.

I was invited to the wedding of friend's sister, along with another friend of ours. The bride was a pretty obnoxious, spoiled brat but we were very good friends with her brother and kind of felt sorry for her because she didn't really have any friends and wanted the biggest wedding she could have. The ceremony itself was fine but when we got to the reception, the MOB set my friend and me to work bartending. We were horribly embarassed (and had no idea how to bartend) but we muddled through it. What made it even more embarassing was when the MOB insisted on paying us at the end of the night. I have no idea where she got the idea that we were there to tend bar but suspect the bride had something to do with it. As an example of how the bride's brain worked (or not) we visited her home a while later. I was helping her with something in the kitchen and noticed a bunch of tiny labels sticking off of a windowsill. When I asked her what they were doing there, she said that her parents had given her some Waterford glassware they had gotten on a trip to Ireland. When she served guests she wanted everyone to know they were Waterford so she would leave the labels on the glasses, then take them off before washing them and then put them back on.

These doggie faces who have passed.....Sob! It's so sweet to hear from you all and to hear stories of your kids. I hope that there is a heaven and that we will see them all again. My late Dad, who died on Valentine's Day 2007, was a huge dog lover, and we had Brittanys growing up, but just one at a time that he trained and bird hunted with. Dad was at home under hospice care, sitting in his recliner in their living room. Mum and I were sitting on the sofa. Dad looked up at the ceiling, and said with this look of wonder on his face, 'They have DOGS up there!' Dad was not religious, and the only time he went to church was for a wedding or funeral, so Mum and I were shocked. Hospice had told us that he might say odd things as he neared the end, but when we heard that, we knew he'd be OK. The last picture that I have of Dad is of him laying on a hospital bed in their guest room, with his Brittany, Beau, laying on top of him, cuddling. That's the way a dog lover should spend his last days.

That is so nice! That's our Jenni! I love that poem...never saw it before, I am going to so this for my sister. My nephew passed away 3 years ago at the age of just 38. This is beautiful Jenni! Now I just have to find the right windchimes! I will do this for my other sister too who lost her husband also to cancer. Wonderful memory gift! Jenni is a very special person...this we know!

Just like Jenni, I've never seen her but I know she is beautiful inside and out, how could she NOT be!?!

Aww...that's great, Bump. Thanks to Jenni for being so thoughtful.

Several years ago my Ya Ya crew gave me a set of windchimes. They told me that when I heard them it meant that the Ya Yas were thinking about me. It's even more precious to me now that two of them are gone. I know they still think of me.
