Back from my spot compression mammo...

OUCH! Geesh that hurt! I thought the end was going to pop right off! It wouldn't show through the mass either,so they called the Doc while I was there and he ordered a sonogram.Did it right then. So now I wait for the results.They showed me the first mammo and it just looks like a tiny spot to me...

Having been born and raised in California, earthquakes don't bother me much. A few years back we had a family reunion in Kansas and I thought it was pretty funny that the relatives from Kansas were all telling us how scary the earthquakes must be while all us Californians were worrying about tornadoes. I'd take earthquakes, fires and landslides over tornadoes or hurricanes any day! I think that most people are more comfortable with the natural disasters that they grew up with, but everybody has something to worry about, right? California will get a massive tsunami eventually, it's just a matter of time. In fact, there is a chunk of Hawaii that will fall into the ocean someday and trigger a mega tsunami that will threaten the entire West Coast. There is a similar situation with one of the Canary Islands that will someday threaten the entire East Coast. I think you would be hard pressed to find a place anywhere that doesn't have some sort of threat looming over it. That's why it's important to not worry about that sort of thing, just take every day as it comes and enjoy the beauty (and roses) that life brings your way.

I'm not sure what your picture is supposed to be showing that pertains to BS and missing leaves. What I see is a beautiful rose with many leaves, including new leaves, and lots of gorgeous blooms. So what is the problem? If you are asking what to do about BS, get some Bayer Garden Disease Control for Roses, Flowers, and Shrubs (get that name--NOT one of the other Bayer products)--at Lowes or online. Buy a small sprayer container for about $20 -- I got mine at Home Depot but other similar stores probably also carry them. Follow Bayer's directions carefully, but make sure you watered the roses deep and well the day before, and pick an early morning time for spraying, before the breeze picks up and swats you in the face with fungicide. Spray with that once or twice at 10 day interval, and probably you will have killed the BS. And with really hot weather coming, you may not have any more BS attacks until cooler weather in the Fall becomes more conducive the BS. But based on your pic, I'd say keep on watering your rose and enjoy it! Kate

Dogs don’t just pee “anyway”. That is nothing more than the excuse of a lazy owner. Dogs pee when they signal that they need to go and are ignored or when they are physically unable to hold it. I hope they aren’t just drawing the conclusion that it’s because she’s old as well. There are lots of reasons as to why a female dog might be incontinent, like a bladder infection or a problem stemming from when she was spayed. Heck, our dog had a problem with incontinence an it ended up being because of the cr*ppy prescription food the Vet wanted her on. It started shortly after we started feeding it to her for some tummy problems and it stopped immediately when I chose to stop feeding it to her. These owners need to step up to the plate and take care of the old girl the way she deserves to be cared for. Scenarios like this always baffle me. I mean, why have an animal if you don’t value it’s companionship and/or enjoy taking care of it? Nicole, I hope you don’t step back and let the owners care for their dog. She obviously needs a compassionate advocate who can speak for her and gently encourage the owners to do better.

@ andrelaplume2 Not many people go to such serious lengths for a garage floor. And yes, thousands of dollars is just about right. Adding in moisture mitigation (stopping the ground salts from being brought up through the slab and then left on the surface after the water has evaporated off) after a slab has been poured is expensive/serious business. It is *possible that you can get a DIY level product down on the concrete....but you run the risk of full failure in a very short amount of time. Where you live, how old the slab is and how high the local water table sits (how close to the surface is the ground water...Florida and Louisiana are examples of REALLY HIGH water tables)? If you are simply trying to get rid of the salt deposits, it might just be easier to power wash every 6 months. It is cheap (cost of a sprayer) and easy and DIY friendly (just remember to wear safety toe shoes when working with 'real' power washers...re-attaching toes is not something you want to have to deal with at your local ER/hospital). A DIY level garage paint or Home Depot Epoxy kit have issues with adhesion if there is too much salt in/on the concrete, or motor oil, or tire rubber, etc. Even the DIY option requires ++++cleaning (with chemicals that require special clothing because it is caustic), then +++++rinsing (because the caustic chemicals are also bond breakers which means they absolutely must be removed = excessive rinsing. Then the concrete must dry (you will need to know how to measure concrete moisture levels) before applying the garage paint/Epoxy. And as I said before, concrete sealing specialists LOVE these DIY jobs. They give them SOOOOO much business they are worth as much as 25% of their yearly business.

I asked her if she ever had one just pop open...LOL! She said ...no. Instead of the plate thingy on the top,they use an open square plastic thing that concentrates on a small area.Then they squeeze and squeeze til you cry UNCLE!
I'll find out in 3-4 days.
Thanks for thinking of me...I'll let you know what happens.She told me not to worry til they get the results,easy for her to say.Now I leave in about 5 mins for the thyroid scan...had to wait SIX hours after I took the pill to put the stuff through my thyroid...I'm really,really tired of tests...really!

I think sometimes they are trying to pinch it off. Sometimes it's a snap. I guess it depends on the mood the tech is in. I'm glad when she's in a good mood.

I remember once going for a regular mammo. The plates squeezed me so hard a drop of yellow liquid came out of one nipple. They said it was not unusual. And the results were negative.

I thought mine were never going to fluff up again, after that!

I've had some real easy ones and some real ouchy ones....I think it depends on the tech. I hope the next one I get is good tech.

Hoping you get good news.

Two years ago I had a spot so small thay had to do an 'enhanced' something-or-other. "Oooooh! Look! That must be a bit of calcium! Calcium flakes are an early sign of a pre-cancer! Ooooh!" (They were a lot more thrilled than I was.) The radiologist was right there with an order for a biopsy. I opted to wait six months. When 'Spot' was still there, I had a biopsy. It found 'atypical cells'. Big Whoop! Nothing new since then.

I hate, hate, hate going for mammograms! There you sit in a waiting room full of tense women, most of whom have been having these exams for years even though they are not 'at risk'. Some, like me, have had a couple of biopsies that never found anything but 'had' to be done and were both painful and costly. I can't wait to get so old I don't give a d@mn. LOL

You know that darn machine had to have been invented by a man.....Just once, wouldn't you love to get that man and use it on him?????
