What a cute grandson Betsy. He reminds me of my DGS Jayden through the big brown eyes. That stained glass is beautiful. I'd like to do something like that, but I know it's expensive to get into.

The grandkids are beautiful (as is that stained glass! wow!). The dogs look like such fun, Daisy isn't sure about getting her picture taken is she? lol

betsy did you say you lived by austin outdoors? i work for a large nursery grower, we've laid a few people off and cut back part-timers and full-timers lost their OT. but we are about to hit the start of our fall busy season, so everyone's hours will be restored. i out of work today due to fay but on mon. i'll compile a list of landscapers/growers/garden centers in your area and email it to you. they may not be hiring immediately but probably in the next 3-4 weeks. most do not advertise, we never do, so you just need to check w/ them. i've linked up the FNGLA a great statewide landscape organization w/ a link on their page to an online career center w/ job listings.

hope you did not flood out! i'm in south seminole county, we got 12" rain since midnight last night plus another 20+" since tue evening, i've lost count and dumped out the rain gauge more times i than can remember :-( now i'm hearing we are not suppossed to use water or add any to the sewers cuz the system is overloaded. we were lucky we only lost power wed am for 5 hrs. and last evening for 12 hrs. stay dry! ~ liz

Leslie, you're right that it can be a bit costly to get into the glass hobby. You should take a class or two at a studio and see if it's for you! I've been doing this for about 25 years and luckily have a large stash of supplies.

Gayle, you don't like our "bass"? hahaha! BTW, no gators were harmed during this fishing expedition. Unfortunately neither were any bass.

Jodi, the "Irish" is actually a Golden Retriever. She's very red and many people think she's an Irish Setter. Jax is a boxer mix - he is huge and a big sweetie. Daisy is a boxer and she is as much of a princess as Sedona. All spoiled and much loved dogs!

The weather has finally calmed down here. In fact the sun is trying to come out! I've got the pool vac started now and think I'll soak myself in DEET and start on the yard. We've got lots of branches down. Looks like most of my plants held up pretty well. One trellis full of Mexican Flame Vine (senecio confusus) got pretty battered, but it's a tough plant. Tougher than the trellis anyway!

I'm so embarrassed! I study dog breeds and seldom mistake one breed for another but then many purebreds don't exactly represent their breed per the confirmation books so there is always the chance of messing up. But I dogress. LOL

The deep red is fairly unusual for a Golden and I did notice her nose was a bit too round and short for an Irish (see note above) but the gorgeous, shiny red coat just captured me.

Oh my Jodi! Don't be embarrassed! Sedona's color is actually called mahogany and she comes from a long line of field goldens that are all that color. Her coat is so nice. Thanks for noticing.

And I've seen photos of Sedona before and never knew she was a golden. I thought she was just a slightly different looking Irish. Two of my favorite breeds. We've started looking for a puppy to replace our Cleo who died last year and I'd love to be able to find a mahogany golden like yours. And we only buy from dogs breed for field work- they are the best.

It sounds to me like you had a fantastic July. I think the fish the fellow is holding is an alibass, what I do know is that he is braver than I am. The kids are darling are they as innocent as they look? vique.

Mcmann, I will send you an email thru your "my page" regarding the dog. I'm sorry you lost Cleo. What kind of dog was she? I'm glad you are ready to let another one in your heart now. I agree with you about the field dogs. They are such a sight to behold at work. Sedona had such strong bird instincts built in. She was working the field at 6 months like a pro and she loves every minute of it.
