Finally hit the yard sales today

Every week I say I'm going to go but then I never get around to it.

I got:

2 Temptations Ovenware pieces - 1 large baking dish, 1 medium baking dish with plastic lids and wicker holders - $3 for all

3 kids puzzles, including a Cookie Monster one that was never used 25 cents for all three

a Rawlings T-ball glove, brand new $1

Slightly used Spiderman snow boots in Nick's next size up - $2. He's a boot freak and goes through footwear faster than I can buy it.

A dirt bike for Nick $15. Big score! He needed a bigger bike and this one is the perfect size.

A fall top 50 cents. I already own one just like it in another color and it's one of my favorite tops.

Good Job!

I have several rooms filled with Yard Sale furniture. I'm thinking about selling some to replace with something different. Let's see if I can turn a profit.

You had some really good finds. I went to day with Amber and she bought several books, but I didn't buy anything. Yesterday I got several books and a lot of them were free. I also got a nice ceramic rolling pin with apples on it, with a wrought iron holder that hangs on the wall. It was $2.00 and a Royal Copley Rooster, rather large for $2.00. A few of my books yesterday were only $.10. We are looking forward to next weeks rummages as the Glass Festival will be going on. Love a good sale!

I've also been longing for a fringe tree but have never seen it for sale in my area. From what I've read about them they can be grown as either an understory tree or out in the open. My mature dogwood is in decline and needs to be cut down but my young redbud is going strong. I really like both trees. You really lucked out getting what sounds like large trees for free! Hi Boom, couple days the cutting sat on my table, on my patio where I have my coffee, and watch my plumies grow..ha I finally dipped the cutting in b-1 and root tone and planted it again...always hope, my 9" cutting may surprise me and grow 4 feet tall over night!!! ha ha. I read somewhere that the reds and dark pinks were harder to root. This one is a vibrant pinky red plant is definatly worth trying to get it to grow. my neighbor has a huge tree, taller than her house. They are in massive bloom all over the tree, spectaculor.. You may be right on the weather, nice in the 70's today, then cooling down in the evening, had to put on socks, ha , then back up in temps. Maybe the hotter time that water method would work for me..worth a try next spring, thanks. sounds like your temps are starting to go odd too, zone 10. Glad you were able to keep the others warm too, yes, maybe a spring effort now. Karen B

I don't carry wipes with me anymore, but we both get the antibiotic lotion when we get back to the car. I do that even after shopping at Walmart. The box is a big round papier mache one and it does have a lid. The original price tag had 29.99 on it so undoubtedly it had something inside. There was a graphic pasted on the outside that I removed since it was pretty beat up. I may try to replicate it in paint using it as a pattern or just try to find a Renee Mullins pattern to use on it most likely. There is a wire handle with metal stars and moons wired onto that so one of her bear patterns with the moon behind would probably look good. I think that would be a neat idea with the box. I usually find the little trees at the $1 store around Christmas. I hate it when I put something back and then think of the perfect use for it when I get home. ha But we can't buy everything....well not at once anyway. ha My DD's birthday is coming up on the 28th. They are really close in age. What did she have on her cake? Neleh switches between a princess cake to Tinkerbell to Scooby-Doo. She's gonna have to make up her mind soon. :) I have been so miserable today since lunch. I overate....like Thanksgiving overate... and I feel sick. I finished up my last 2 Mothers Day ribs, but I ate some good french bread with it and it just expanded to the point of misery. I took a nap even, but still not feeling well. Hope I'm not about to have another appendicitis attack. I have chronic appendicitis that sort of feels like this when it starts. I'm gonna go lay back down. DH will have to fend for the kids for supper. Oh, I was gonna tell you that I went to the nursery before lunch and I bought 2 fushia plants. I think they may be dwarf ones though. They are the purple and pink ones and they are called Tiny Tim. ~Anj

Both DD's and Drew and I were out shopping the city wides today. DD got a couple of the UnderArmour shirts for Hunter for $3 each. Just like new, they are $30 a piece she said! She got a like new pair of skater jeans for Hunter for another $3, still look as dark as the day they were bought home from the store. Drew got some toys and Minnesota Twins cap and a new John Deere long sleeved shirt. Madison and I went later in the morning once she came up, she found a cute red and black jumper with red turtle neck shirt for $5, two pair of boots for $4 each, a pair of hot pink sequinned tennie's for a buck and a new book, oh a pink Minnesota Twin's hoodie too. I found 2 square tray type pictures from At Home America, both coffee themed and I have coffee things in my kitchen and dining room they were $1 each so I was happy. I love going to sales, sometimes I hit it big and sometimes not. Today wasn't one of the better days...but we had fun.

It was a slow day for me, I think all I found were two pie tins for 50 cents. DH, tho, had a ball. He found a set of gaffs for tree climbing for $10 which was a great deal. He can't quit chattering about them. LOL!

Oh, I almost forgot. One sale had a great round cake holder. It was plastic, lightweight and only 25 cents. It had a big spider web and a dead ugly spider in it. Yuck! Even for 25 cents I wouldn't buy it. I don't expect stuff to be perfectly clean at a yard sale but I think sellers should at least remove the spiders. I might have paid up to $2 without the spider.

I bought the bike and glove at around 8:30am and tried to pay with a $20 bill and they didn't have change. It's not like I was paying for a 50 cent item - I only needed $4 change. They did scrape it up in the house. I always have plenty of small bills for change whenever I have a yard sale.

You did really good. The yard sales around here are a joke. Usually old stuff that I've gotten rid of a long time ago and man, are they proud of it too. We joke that they must be watching too much HGTV and think their junk is treasure. Sticky Tupperware and glass things with chips in them. DH likes to check out the sales but I hardly ever go. Although when you're looking for little kid stuff, that's easier to find. I bet Nick will look so cute in his Spiderman boots!

I sometimes stop if I see one while running errands. But I don't usually find anything I like. I guess I am picky and I know I will get a lecture from DH when I get home about not needing any more junk. LOL

Yard sales are fantastic when you have kids! Well not only for kids stuff but I pick up lots for the GB's at them.

I went out for a couple of hours this morning. I got a Jim Shore Heartwood Creek Angel ornament for $1. Also a huge lot of embroidery thread for $3, some empty Brighton tins and my best buy was a Seth Thomas barometer. It is solid brass and really pretty. I gave $1 for it. I might sell it on eBay.
