New Foundland....Casey

I love the pictures you post of New Foundland, they are so beautiful. I wish we had retired there when hubby retired from the Air Force. It looks like paradise to me. It looks so clean and neat and I bet everyone is friendly just like you. Vique.

Vique, you speak for all of us!

Thank you! Newfoundland is pretty nice, the weather can be annoying at times but I don't think I'd want to live anywhere else for an extended period of time (although a house in England would be nice for getaways! LOL). We don't have a lot of pollution, not a big population so you can always find a nice quiet spot to sit and watch the ocean. I love all the nature around me and I can see the ocean in minutes.

I love your pictures too. It all looks so "Home town."

BUT I also remember the pictures of your house almost burried in snow!!! I know, I'm being a spoil-sport, but it is what it is! LOL

I am so awed at the blueness of the sky and water.
Thank you for sharing the beauty of your area!

LOL, Hayjud. The pictures Casey posts are so beautiful it just looks like paradise--however, I remember winter pictures, too. Guess if you could stay inside and read until spring, it's be perfection.

When the weather is good, there is no better place to be. When it's bad...... well, ask us Monday while we're in the middle of Hurricane Bill!

I just love the pictures you post Karen. Someday I am going to get there and visit all the beautiful places you have shown us. Of course, it will be wonderful because it will be in the summer. You can keep your winters with all the snow. LOL

We should have a KT convocation in Newfoundland next summer! I'd love to go there, too.

    Hi folks,

Not only is Newfoundland ruggedly beautiful ...

... the inhabitants are hugely hospitable, and make people very welcome.

Remember 9-12 ... when New York airports were closed?

Hundreds (I think) of airplanes ... including thousands of people ... landed entirely unexpectedly in Newfoundland ... where there wasn't a large quantity of spare food and accomodations available, but the Newfoundlanders opened their homes and freezers, community centres and schools to make everyone welcome.

Many who were the enforced visitors for those few days have returned to renew friendships with the lovely people that they met in Newfoundland. They'd be delighted to have you come for a visit ... in summer, if you so choose ...

... maybe in winter, especially if you're a writer who'd like some largely uninterrupted time for composition.

Many Newfoundlanders were fishers, depending of the cod for their food and income ... but the huge factory fishing trawlers pretty well sucked the ocean dry, as they are busily doing with many other high level fish (with some assistance from hungry seals) and when Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans forbade fishing them, well over 10 years ago, with everyone hoping that the stock would recover, many have found it difficult to survive, with the food source and income provider gone up in smoke, so to speak.

Now many people are screaming about the mistreatment of seals ... resulting from wildlife-supporting agencies using mainly pictures of white-coat seal pups, that are very photogenic ... but haven't been hunted in years.

Newfoundlanders have acquired a certain reputation for partying, as well: and they'd be pleased to welcome you to those, also.

A visit to Newfoundland is a memorable experience: even well-travelled Glenda would find it impressive, I'm sure.

I must say that Casey's beautiful photographs have put Newfoundland on my list of places to visit one day.

Newfoundland and Labrador is a beautiful Province. I travelled there with my parents a few times when I was a teenager.

I love the Tourism Commercials for Newfloundland and Labrador and if you get a chance to watch any of them online do so.

Maybe Glenda did stop there are her way to Europe. Many flights stop in Gander to refuel before crossing the ocean.

That's exactly what I was going to say.

Karen, I'm wondering if you will have any effects from hurricane Bill?
