Ok this is simple now. Just use Google and type edit registry and millions of hits appear. Look through the first few and you will find many tutorials with good graphics showing step by step. You are nervous and rightly so because of all the warnings about messing up a registry. HOWEVER, this is nothing more than making a correction to a spelling error if you look at it that way. First time just go into the registry working down to the needed page. Once there you can walk away and grab a coffee if you feel stress, or you can make the simple correction to the one entry in question. Those of us who help others always need to stress the importance of caution in the registry because of those who are so impetuous. my ex son in law is a good example, he goes into a computer like a bull in a china shop. Luckily I do not have to clean up behind him anymore :) Now I have learned how to put stuff into a flash drive and save my files. Why? You are going to back up the registry as a precaution, nothing more. To save your work, assuming it is stored in My Documents. Insert the thumb drive, cancel the popup right click Start click Explore Now you see Windows Explorer opened Look near the top on the left side and right click on My Documnts click Properties in the pop up Look to see how large the My Documents folder is and if you have enough room on the thumb drive. We'll assume you have room. OK.... Click My Documents to highlight On the right side click the top item to highlight Hold down the Shift key and tap the End key now all the right side is highlighted right click anywhere on the highlighted data click Copy in the pop up Scroll down the left side now to find the thumb drive right click on it in the pop up click Paste and the contents are copied to your thumb drive - or any other drive you designate. Done! Simple huh?

Locate and open your pictures. How to highlight or select one or more pictures. Hold down on the CTRL Key and start left clicking all the pictures you want to copy or hold down on the left click and drag your pointer to highlight. Another way is at the left top open Edit - click select all. After you have highlighted or selected the pictures you want to copy to CD, look to your left for the words - Copy to CD or Copy all items to CD At the right bottom of your screen you will get a balloon popup. Read and click at the correct spot on the popup. New location. Look to your left and click Copy these files to CD. You will get a welcome to the CD Writing Wizard. Follow directions and finish your copy of your pictures. This D:A location were you copy pictures is located here = Start - my computer - Right click - CD-RW Drive(D:) (Drive E on my PC) - left click Open. ----------------------------------------------------- I have a Windows Address Book on my computer. Start - All Programs - Microsoft Works Word Processor - Windows Address Book. Yours may be listed under something else. The addresses can be saved at this location and sent to your Documents to be printed out for safe Keeping or everything in your Documents can be put on a CD. cg

I don't know how I did it but I somehow have created a folder in the bar right below the address and I can drag and drop into that folder with FF 3.x. Then I sort into meaningfully named folders at my leisure. I can drag and drop down from the address or up from anywhere on the screen. This seemed very different and awkward for about a day and a half and then it became so natural I can bookmark without thinking.

I personally know what I know, and I don't what I don't. I don't try to impress anyone with my CV or life experiences. Nor do I don't take a condescending or patronizing approach. I may know more than ten members, but there are certainly at least eleven that know more than me. I never want to become "cynical". My only objection here at the forum is a member's failure to try self-help first. Anyone who has been here for a while knows I promote that. If they have tried without positive results, or don't understand the information they have ferreted out like the cavalry my help, if I can, is on the way. Not that it means a darn anything, but I've been here since 1998. I've seen people come and people go. Some are missed and some aren't. I myself once had to take a sabbatical as I didn't like the direction the forum was going. It lasted six months. I had had my fill of the members who were trying to take over the forum, a couple of know-it-alls, the members who were thought to walk-on-water, and the rising negative exchanges between these members. So I guess if I was too often made uncomfortable while reading here I might avoid the place. DA
