I decided on crib bedding...wanna see?

If you read my other post last week about cribs, I mentioned I want to do a pink & brown theme for the baby's room with a dark wood furniture.

I'd been looking all over for bedding that I like and found one last night that I love. It's slightly different than I'd originally envisioned in that it has light beige and I thought I wanted just chocolate brown and pink but I actually think this bedding is better because with the dark furniture, it's a nice contrast to have the lighter beige too. Plus our carpet is light beige so that will blend well nicely too.

I have wainscoating on the walls like you see in the photo. I was planning on painting the wall above it pink but now I'm not sure because of the amount of pink in the bedding, I may have to rethink that. I'll wait until the bedding arrives so I can see the true colors then decide.

Oh, Steph- that is so YOU and will be perfect for Sweetie Pie! You'll never get tired of it, it's just lovely. Another nursery to decorate, how fun is that?!

Speaking of names, did I miss a list of potential names?

Steph, I don't post here often, but I've always enjoyed following your trials and tribulations of motherhood and praying for you. I have to say that I just love the bedding you've selected. That's going to be one happy baby in a cheery room like that! And congrats on the little girl you're carrying.

If you have a greenhouse or potting shed or even a potting area, you could hang it up above where you do your potting to hang supplies on...like garden gloves attached with a big clothes pin or garden tools hung with S hooks or tin cans to hold things like twist ties also attached with S hooks. If the crib side is attached firmly enough, and lays flat, you could use the top of it as a shelf with "stuff" (above) hanging down from under it. Or, you could attach one to each side of a potting bench with the bars going horizontally and hang the same kind of things as above within reach while you're working at the bench.

Oh how I read your posting and my heart goes out to you. I lost my sweet Dad too, it was 2 years ago in August. So many of the details that you described about your Dad's condition were present with my Dad too. Your story brought back my memories. I know losing someone that you love so much is just gut wrenching. It is so tramautic. To me, it's like post tramautic stress disorder, the act of losing that special person is so mentally draining, something you only go through when you love someone so much. After I lost my Dad, well it was so hard. But my Mom was so miserable without my Dad. We all immediately focused on helping Mom to manage without him. But 7 months later we lost Mom. Mom was my best friend, along with my Dad. Now there both gone. How do I manage without them? I don't even know. I was so very lost in the beginning, and so very angry. There were so many unforgiveable surrounding circumstances. So many things made it harder to bear. I, too am so sad that my kids don't have their grandparents, that loved them so much, and I feel so cheated. They still have a paternal grandpa, but it's not the same. And it IS hard to hear them talk about my husband's father. But I'm glad my husband has HIS dad, and I talk about MY parents to them. And show them things they bought them, and cards from them. And we have pictures and some videotape of them, of course I haven't been able to watch those yet. I just think that your grief never completely goes away. But you do figure out how to get by each day without them. Other things and people come into the picture to help you figure that out. I'm just sad now, not so angry anymore. I guess because I believe in Heaven and I believe they are there. And I look forward to seeing them again. And I believe they are together and in no more pain. I am sad that they miss out on my life but I believe they can see me and my family and I look to the sky for them. Death is a part of life but we still never want to let go. I would have been just of sad had my parents lived to be 100. Just hang in there. Love your children and your husband each day. Thank God for them and for the time you had with your Dad. I've been reading a book "Motherless Daughters". It is very validating for me with my feelings but it also reminds me of how so many people lost their parents before they were even grown. I'm so glad my parents got to see my kids. My last child was an unexpected girl, after 2 boys. I'm so glad that they knew her and could share in those moments with me. Hugs to you.

Have you tried offering a reward for staying in her bed all night? As far as transitioning to the new bed, let her help pick out her new bedding so she has some involvement. You might pick out a couple of options in advance and let her choose from those other she might go off on a whole new theme. Brag up how she is such a big girl to get the new bed. Have you friends and neighbors brag her up too. My kids liked to turn the light on too. I fixed the problem by getting (I don't know what this is called) a thing I could screw into the light socket. It sort of looks like a light socket. You can buy them at Wal-Mart back by the light switch covers. Anyway, it had a pull chain on it (some come with an extra outlet). I would just turn the light off at the bulb every night so flipping the switch didnt work. I put a night light in the extra outlet so the kids can't reach it. I would move the furniture away from the light switch so she doesn't have a reason to be climbing. Since your dd seems to enjoy her time in isolation, I would probably leave the door open. Give her a consequence for every time she wanders out. You may have to take away a toy or some other action. Don't sit and talk to her. Make a simple statement and return her to bed. After the first time, just use a gesture and no words. Don't let her have the attention she's wanting. If she knows you mean business, she'll quit. Good luck! She will get over this.

dekeoboe - thanks for the heads up about the owl! I went to Hallmark today and got the last one. Knock on wood - the 'L' word is really on my side so far w/ this room! The owl was 50% off! And the paint guy at ACE clearly didn't hear me when I said I wanted it mixed in the Essence paint as it is only $14.99 per gallon. I got 2 gallons for both DD's room and mine. I almost fell over when the cashier said $48! He mixed the wrong brand and it turned out that they were out of Essence so he gave me their top of the line paint for $14.99/ gallon! Sue - those alphabet fairies are just perfect! Polly - that chandy is so sweet! I wanted to name DD Penelope but DH nixed that. I really like the bunny lamp and I may have to start trolling around e-bay for something similar. Hellokitty - I was thinking of one or two small pillows - I really like the heart ones that Polly got at IKEA. I have a sweet little white one that I picked up a few months ago that has the palest of pale pink edging and is embroidered w/ 'P.S. I love you' in the same shade of pink. It's so pale you almost don't even notice it. I thought maybe a great raspberry plaid for the rocker seat. I started painting the dresser about 30 minutes ago in SW Berry Bush. I think that the deeper raspberry tones w/ that wall color are edgey but still sweet. Igloo - Maybe we can vacation swap houses like they did in The Holiday! LOL! Yes - I agree - that girls room that is decked out in all those fabulous shades of turqouise, green and white is simply wonderful! That Poster did such an amazing job at pulling that room together so well.

Flamey, so far, her name will most likely be Cameryn. Probably Cameryn Paige although the middle name is still questionable.

There are a few other names I like but Brent doesnt really care for them. He isnt much help with names. He wants me to throw names at him and he'll say yes or no, versus giving me a list of names he likes. It's too much work to do that! LOL And there aren't many names he has liked so far. He does like Cameryn and Grant most likely would've been that so that's probably what she'll be but we haven't 100% finalized it yet. I do want her to have a name soon though because the more time that passes, the more I think of her as Cameryn and if he changes his mind, it will seem like I'm renaming her.

That set is darling and I love it with the dark stained furniture Steph. The room is going to be so pretty! I really like the name Cameryn. I can see what you mean about thinking another would be a rename if you've thought this one for very long.

It's lovely.

Is Sweet Pea inheriting Grant's nursery, with him moving up to a new bedroom; or this a bedroom about to morph into the nursery, with Grant keeping his own surfer-dude nursery/now Big Boy room?

Wow! Is that a sentence, or what?

I really do love this bedding and decor. It's very girly and baby without being "the norm."

If you named her Ursula, though, her initials would be UPS. lololol

Caroline, Grant will be moving into a different room and the room he's in now will become a new nursery for the baby.

I'm not sure what theme I'll do for Grants new room but I doubt I'll do the surfer theme. I'm already getting bored with it!

Just wanted to say that is a great color scheme!!!

Also...one of my biggest regrets in life is that I didn't think of naming my baby girl Cameryn when she was born. It was the boys name I picked out, but I never thought of it as a girls name. Will haunt me forever (though, I do like the name she has now...I have always loved Cameron!!!)
Oh well...I'm gonna work on my kids to name one for Gramma when the time comes...hopefully not for quite a few years LOL.

don't blame you on the surfer theme...dd2 has it for dgs and it's been really hard to find linens, etc...(his bed is full and one of those super thick mattress) most of the cute stuff has been twin...

Love the bedding.......now I also love the name Cameryn but know 4 or 5 girls/boys with that name it is becoming common...what about Gentry Paige S? Just a thought since you guys aren't firm on it yet...but no matter her name it will be great! Stacy
