This isn't exactly what you asked, but I would just bookmark it instead of cluttering up the desktop where eventually you will run out of room if you do this a lot.

Basically just click the star icon on your address bar when you are in the site and go from there. The name and icon of the website will appear in a bar under the address bar when you are finished and you can just click it when you want to go there. You can even create folders and save a gazillion websites without taking up room on the desktop.

Dotmom, I just put what I want to save in favorites. I click on favorites, click on add and there it is for safe keeping. Hope this helps..

If you use IE, Dottie, just right click on a blank space of a page of your website. Then left click on "create a shortcut". It will save it to your desktop.

With Firefox, Click on the icon beside the address, e.g. the Spade beside Garden web, and drag it to your desktop.

I use FF and just drag the icon (just left of url) down to the bookmarks toolbar. I have 3 forums that I visit there and it is very handy.

Dot, if you are using internet explorer, look up at the top where the address bar is and see where it shows a leaf before the Kitchen table's address? Now, up in the top right corner, click on the little square that's between the "x" close button and the "-" button. that will make your internet screen smaller and you should be able to see your desktop behind your internet screen now. Now, click on the little leaf or whatever picture is in front of the web address that you want on your desktop, hold it down when you click on it and drag it out onto your desktop. Voila. There you go!

Right click, then create shortcut!

It's easy:

If using IE, go to the top of the page, and located just under the address bar, you will see 'file, edit, view, etal. Click on 'File' and scroll down to 'Send' and select 'Shortcut to Desktop'.

Here's a hint for those who do not know about the Quick Launch tool bar. After you make a shortcut on your desktop activate your quick launch bar if you haven't already then you can drag it to the quick launch bar, Very handy. I have my games, computer protection short cuts there and software that I use a lot.

This may sound stupid but what is a Quick Launch Tool bar and where do I find it.

The Quick Launch is at the bottom left of your screen, beside the Start button.
The "e" is already there, as is the desktop button.

Right-click in the task-bar, and uncheck Lock the Taskbar.
This enables you to drag shortcuts into the space beside the "e" or desktop button. (The desktop button is the white and blue square. This shows your desktop with one click instead of minimizing all of your open websites).

Right-click the taskbar again to Lock the Taskbar.
