LOL I'm still awake but I think I am now tired enough to go to bed. I must have been up and down the basement stairs about 10 times doing laundry and cleaning out litter boxes.

I was sitting here in the kitchen on the computer in the dark about an hour ago. All of a sudden a bright light shone through the window and I couldn't see a thing. It was the police. They spend a few extra minutes shining the light on my house because my front door was open. I moved the curtains and waved to say everythin was all right. The police car then continued to move on shining the search light at every house as it went down the street. I wonder who they were looking for? See if I had been sleeping I would have missed that bit of excitement. LOLOL

I agree with the calcium and magnesium, and I also suggest that people try melatonin. I keep a bottle of 3 mg. lozenges at my bedside. I need to take one about half the time.

A 12 pack of beer or a bottle of brandy helps me sleep like a postal employee....

I was awake at 2 AM watching sitcoms after sleeping through them a bit earlier. Then I was wide awake at 5AM so started my day. I wonder if I will be knocked in the head all day as a result of so little sleep...hope not as there is much needing done.

Yes Glenda, when is your vacation? I usually only lose sleep the night before vacation thus starting it off exhausted. Are you doing a lot to get ready, thus the excitement mounting?

Insomnia is terrible!! I know people who fall asleep the moment their heads hit the pillow. They have no idea how lucky they are.

Petaloid - I always suspected that I slept better when I took my calcium before bedtime! You do have to be careful though as it can block other medications if you are taking them at bedtime. (Which is why I now take my calcium at another time.)
Glenda - Are you still doing your water aerobics? Do you sleep any better on those days?

I've always been a good sleeper. Now I find it takes a long time to fall asleep, and today I woke up at 5 am, it wasn't even dawn yet. I was worrying about money, how am I going to pay BOTH my kids' college tuition this fall? The older one has decided to live at home and commute, at least I won't have to pay for her dorm bill!

I finally slept last night after two nights of 4 hours each. I feel pretty darned good today--good enough to tackle Wal-Mart this afternoon (but I dread it anyway). I slept 9 hours mainly because I was just exhausted.

Last nite was better, but not a full nites sleep.

Yes, I still do water aerobics, but missed Monday due to weather and Tues, due to lack of sleep. Went today!

I have a prescription for 5 mg Ambien (generic). If I can't get to sleep in an hour or if I wake after midnight and can't get *back* to sleep in an hour, I take one pill. They last about four/five hours. I probably use one pill every four or five nights. It's calming to know I have 'help at hand'.

I used to take a Tylenol PM if I had a couple of sleepless nights in a row. It did double duty. I slept well and didn't have any aches and pains in the morning. I just didn't want to get dependent on anything though, so I quit.

I am also having troubles sleeping lately, DH told me a bit ago that I must have had a restless night last night.
He said I tossed all night long. I usually take 3 mgs. of melatonin every night (all nature) but I am out so
I've been taking Tyenol PM right before I get into bed. It takes awhile for the PM to kick in plus I feel
somewhat drunk when I get up in the morn. Tomorrow I will get some melatoin!

I am glad that it is just not me. I have been up till 4am the last couple of nights, and I am usually a 5am riser.
It just takes the wind out of my sails to be so turned around.
I have tried a couple of different things to get me relaxed at night, but to no avail. I just am too wound up to sleep I think. Not sure what I am wound up about, but non the less.....

Now I feel better now that I am not the only one who suffers from insomnia. Insomnia didn't come on until I had a complete hysterectomy several years back. Not only do I have to suffer from insomnia but those horrible nite sweats also. When I wake up from one of those I am up for the rest of the nite. ARGH!

Yep, I forgot to add, I wake up drenched too. but it has been almost 20 years since my hysty. I know I am in the clenches of meno, but at least let me sleep!!!
The dogs are my #1 worst enemy at night. They have learned to reach up and drag a paw across my arm to wake me up to go out at night. Now I wonder if I am the butt of their late evening entertainment.
