I bought a new (to me) car. It's a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. I've been checking them out for a long time. At least a year. My Intrepid was a 1998. Needed tires, and probably a lot more. The air didn't work anymore. So, I did it. Aaaaaaaaaakkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. If I'd have bought it last week, I could have come to the get together. Sniff sniff.

I feel a road trip coming up this fall...

Oh shut up!! flora uk :o), ahhh!, I am in a altered state of reality here, feel like every thing is so behind! its May and my last frost date is tomorrow that said no frost in about 8 weeks! I planted out so much stuff and appart from some over optomistic egg plants and toms, everything is doing well if a little slow!, people refer to spring here, but in my opinion, its winter 6 months, spring about 2 weeks, summer 4 and fall about 6 weeks, which I have to say was amazing like a Good British summer and I use the good advisedly, as the UK have had a run of bad! recently (I wrote we then instead of UK still not used to being away!), it is comfortably warm, the air is clear, the trees? well Amazing! so although I have attempted a "spring" crop, if it fails I have the back up fall crop, and fortunatly as a Brit, I love all that after frost, stuff such as parsnip, brussel sprouts (and carrots if not left too long!) here where I am memoral day weekend is the traditional planting time, and thats not for a couple of weeks! no other garden round me has plants in it, they are just preparing at the mo...but there again they know the area I don't! so I could be very upset soon! hope not! and I shall laugh! haw haw haw! if I get eggplant and cantaloupe...then you too will read and weep! (I just bet you have a enormous greenhouse! to foil my evil plan!)

I agree with you about West Sharpening. West Sharpening has free shipping on orders over $250, which I was pleased to take advantage of on my recent order of finger tines, a plow bar, and plows for my Merry Tiller. I plan to order future accessories from West Sharpening for the same reason. Also, their prices are a bit lower than most of the competition. I have been using my MacKissic 12PT9 for the last three years. It's the same as the newer 12PT10 except I have a 9hp B&S engine instead of the 10hp that comes on the newer ones. It's not as top heavy as it looks because the highest part of it is the big shredder input chute, which is relatively light sheet metal. The heavy stuff like the engine, the metal frame, the flywheel, and the hammermill rotator are all located lower in the machine, which makes the center of gravity of the machine a bit lower than what you might expect. I had to move my machine down a fairly steep slope to the working area where I have been using it. There is a hazard of the machine "running away" in a situation like this, since it has no brakes. I used a large stick as an improvised drag brake to negotiate the slope. The slope might have been steep enough to tip the machine if I tried to move it sideways on the slope, but since I was moving more or less straight down the slope, braking and not tipping was the real concern. I am using my 12PT9 to process brush piles, prunings, thinned trees, deadfall, leaves, leafmold, loose bark, garden waste, and compost piles. Well over 2 acres of this nearly 4-acre property is a wooded area. After three years of work I probably have at least three years of work remaining. I have produced many compost piles from the existing forest material and will be producing many more in the future, as well as more landscaping chips and garden path surfacing material. To a certain extent, the wooded area is a self-renewing source of material for my "Mighty Mac" MacKissic. However, that's a good thing because it is helpful to have an ongoing source of landscaping chips, garden path material, and mulch and compost for our garden. I think the 12PT10 should be sufficient for your situation, but not overkill. MM

Oh Kath, Congratulations on finding just what you wanted. It is beautiful. Love your dining table too. Perfect decorating!! When we moved into our house 17 years ago, it had a nice dining room, so I wanted a nice dining set. Well, about 3 months ago I found my dream set on craig's list. It was a little high for craig's list I thought, but, my precious husband said, you have waited for 17 yrs for the right one, go for it. So, I did, and it is in my upstairs bed room un-assembled b/c the dining room has been made into my Daddy's bedroom. I like the dining room set, but I LOVE my Daddy. But, I got the one I wanted. keepem: yes I need tons of light. if this were not a converted bedroom I would have lighting installed in the ceiling so I wouldn't need table lamps everywhere. but it's s amll price to pay. last night I had a felted bag being blocked , my embroidery in the machine and and bundles of wool drying and I could walk away and close the door behind me. This morning it calls to me. If I had to put things away like I used to, I would have given up sewing ages ago.

It had 18,200 miles on it. I think they were pretty hungry at the dealership.
Glenda, I've been threatening a southern trip, so it could happen.
It takes a while to get the feel of a different car, and learn where all the buttons are, and what they're for.

Sandy, I like the fact I'm setting up a little higher too. I always drive Mom around to appointments etc. in her Town and Country. It sets higher than mine even, and I got used to being up higher and liked that. The one I had was an Intrepid and sat low. I'd have to climb up out of it almost, and in this one I have to step down. Easier on the knees. (Losing 50 lbs would help a whole lot too)

One of my co-workers has that same car and she loves it. Lots of cargo space with the seats folded.
