Good question Karen, I hadn't stopped to count. So far we have 26 stations representing 16 states. Ohio is the current leader with 4 stops. Second place is a tie between Tennessee and Washington state with 3 each. Third place is a three way split between Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Virginia with 2 apiece. The furthest north state is Wisconsin, furthest south is Florida. The east is held down by New York with California anchoring the west. Frequent flyer miles with the USPS? JT is getting to be quite the jet setter isn't she? She's going to need her own box pretty soon. I wonder if she'd object to being viewed as "flat rate"? ; )

This post may get a bit "out there" but I find it all quite fascinating. Having met Saucy and knowing a bit about her history, this whole Garden of the Goddesses seems just perfect: In undisputed ancient religion fact, the Feminine Divine was often portrayed as a Turtle, the shell of which emphasizes the strength of the feminine soul, the innards being our soft compassion. While there are other symbols, the turtle, or terrapin, has a solid meaning throughout religious history. One of the few remaining mainstream references to this feminine is "Mother" Earth. The connection of earth and spirit in religion broke down as men began to formulate the histories. All fact and widely accepted even amongst the most conservative religious factions. To this day the seasons are celebrated in a "feminine" spirit. The strength of maintaining the feminine in the natural world speaks directly to its power, no matter what other beliefs one holds. So, given that Saucy is a very strong woman, it seems quite natural that at Terrapin Station the Garden of the Goddesses will be placed. Even with Nick's view of the project one can guess that he Wants it to be seen. Now I'm not suggesting alters or incantations, here. Even my sensibility doesn't go that far, but the placement Saucy has picked is strikingly like the placement thousands of years ago. It will be stunning!! Hope I've not put anyone off, but I can't wait to "be there" in person and soak in the Horaes, three or four of them :-) Martie

I went to junior high and part of high school in Highland Park and used to drive past that thing (before it was rebuilt) all the time. oceanna-Your siding pics are too funny. My last home had a huge picture window in the dining room that was 6' from the neighbor's house (all brick). I finally built a trellis on the outside to grow vines over the window and block the view :) Here's what I see outside my windows now..

"American's really over expose this idea of "right to know"." I don't think Americans (no apostrophe) generally do what is suggested. This is a specific instance, concerning a relative, telling what's thought to be a tall tale. In a pattern of lies this person tells. Trying to catch the liar in a lie he can't talk his way out of. If I were in this situation, I'd let it drop. For me, it's disgusting how people can lie about anything at all, there's nothing special about military service. I have no time in my life for liars and I jettison them as fast as possible. Even some truth tellers try to gain advantage and exploit the notion that there's something noble about being a veteran, having been in the military, how that shaped and defines their entire life. Sorry, no. If that's the case for someone, there must not be much else that person did in their life that was worthwhile. For me (also a veteran and so what?), if that's the drum people want to beat regularly as some do, fine. It's a reason to feel sorry for them, not a basis to venerate them for. Most veterans I know see their service years, whether voluntarily or otherwise, as just an aspect of their youth along with many others. Not a defining experience by any means other than the unfortunates who because of wounds or PTSD, had their lives changed. They're a small minority.
