To help increase account security, the option to link multiple accounts will be discontinued.

Your accounts will remain unchanged, but to switch between them, you'll need to sign out of one and sign into the other. Also, the account menu in the upper right of Outlook.com will no longer list your multiple accounts.

Would you like to send and receive all your mail from all your accounts in one place?

If so, see Send and receive email from other accounts in

Outlook.com.

Thanks, luckygardnr and Joann. I can't use another account - I had all kinds of folders with insurance, etc. information.

I tried logging out of my hotmail acct. and into my live.com, but it wouldn't let me. I'm so exasperated and concerned!

Edited to add: I just tried going to live.com and it takes me straight to my hotmail.com email.

I suggest you try posting your situation on the Microsoft email forum. In fact there's some questions there already about live.com accounts.

I would have thought luckygardnr had the answer. That is what I had heard also.

Thanks to all who tried to help - I give up. I can't remember when I created the account and all the stuff they require to verify my 'compromised' account.

Hi, kayjones.

As luckygardnr posted, linking accounts has been disabled. Since going to live.com takes you to your hotmail.com email, it appears that you are not completely logged out. This is most likely because you checked the box "Keep me signed in".

You will need to completely clear all live.com cookies. If you use CCleaner and have cookies selected to keep, go to Options > Cookies. At the top of the right-hand column, search "live". There will be ~5 cookies:

one with the name of the mail server (bluA###.mail.live.com)
home.live.com
live.com
login.live.com
mail.live.com

Move those cookies back to the "Cookies to delete" column. After running CCleaner, you should be able to login to your live.com address.

If your Hotmail address is your "primary" account, you will want to set up forwarding from live.com to the hotmail account. See instructions at the link below.
Reminder: you will need to log on to the forwarded account at least once/year or the account will be closed!

To simplify management of mail from the alternate account, I suggest creating a folder for that mail and a rule. Merely open one of the forwarded emails and click Sweep > Manage Rules.

Create a New Rule where the sender's address is your other address and select the option to move it to the appropriate folder.

The information on Corinne's link is not working because I can't sign in to my live account. I can't verify my live.com info. because I can't remember email addresses and dates of my last emails. It looks as if I can forget it.

Am I understanding you correctly?

Are you saying that you do not remember the name of your live.com email account or that you cannot remember addresses of emails received in your live.com address?

If you do in fact remember your live.com email address, did you try what I suggested regarding clearing cookies?

Ok what browser are you using? If you are using IE then try downloading and installing Firefox and using it with your live.com user name and password, using a browser that you have never used will not have any remembered cookies etc. If you use Firefox also then download and install Chrome or Opera browser, this is to test it with a fresh unused browser. I agree with Corrine, I think the problem is that it is not fully logging you out of that Hotmail address.
If the problem is that you can not remember your actual user name and password for your live.com accounts that would present a real conundrum. Could you have written it down some where? I always keep a notebook with those kinds of things because I just can't remember stuff like I used to.

Raven, I am using IE. I tried Foxfire - it just gives me the message that 'someone else is using this email'. It won't let me log in. I DO remember my live.com email address and password.

when you go to landzdown find Corrines name and just click on it and in the info there about her is an option to send her a pm, you can write it there just like you would here and then send it and she gets it right away, then when she sends one back to you when you go to landzdown it will pop up telling you that you have a message and you will also get a notice in your email account that you used to register. Just click on my messages at the top and you can view your messages.

After setting up mail forwarding from your live.com address to your hotmail address, all NEW e-mail will be sent to your hotmail address.

For important saved files/e-mails, you will need to be logged on to your live.com address and manually forward them to your hotmail address.

Since you mentioned insurance and other important accounts connected to your live.com address, I suggest you log on to those accounts and change the associated email to your hotmail address.
