I have used on for years.Only difference I use a colander and line it with a plastic shopping bag.That way I can close it up and DH takes it out to the dumpster for me so it's not in the trash inside.

I have a small "berry bucket" that I use. I put veggie stuff in it for my worm beds.. The meat stuff I just toss in the garbage pail..

It drives me nuts that she calls it that and puts compost and recycle things in it. I guess that is what she has to do though to put together a meal like hers in 30 minutes or less.

I have a small container under the sink for compost items, and the recycles are set on the sink until rinsed and put in the recycle bucket. Meat scraps/bones are usually frozen until either being used or discarded when I make a trip to discard my bag of trash....about once a month or so.

When I cook anything with scraps, I have the dog's clean bowl in the sink and a plastic baggie on the counter - the scraps will go in one or the other - in both cases, it ends up in the 'garbage disposal' - ya, my dog thinks he's a garbage disposal! LOL No, he doesn't get any 'garbage', just occasional meat scraps or a piece of bread crust.

Yes I use one now too..really helps to keep things from getting out of control..which is how I usually cook..LOl

I keep the large plastic container that baby greens comes in, in my frig, for the scraps for my worms.
I set it on the counter and all my veggie scraps go right into it, then back into the frig till it's full.

Any meat, and plastic discards go right into the garbage pail, which I set beside me.

They used to sell a triangle shaaped one with holes in the bottom that fit in your sink Haven't seen one in years.

Yep! I use a empty coffee can for my scraps with a plastic liner.

I keep an old crock on the counter for stuff I can put in my compost pile.
I have a small garbage bag thingy on under sink cabinet door for garbage and another container nearby for recycle stuff.

No. I used to, long before Rachel Ray was on the air. But it was more of a disposeable tray, like one of the meat trays or something. Now I have a wastebasket right next to me and a bag for recyclables and that saves me the extra effort of the garbage bowl.

Yes, I use one all the time. My wooden trash bin is attractive in the kitchen, but can be awkward to open, especially if my hands are working with food.

Yes! I use one most of the time. Even though my trash can is right next to the island, I find using a trash bowl saves me time! I fix a fruit and veggie tray at the office every morning, and started using one there, too. That has REALLY been helpful since the trash can is halfway across the kitchen area.

I use a 1/2 gallon ice cream container w/lid. Scraps get buried in the compost heap or a hole in the yard. It's amazing how they pile up each day--coffee filters, apple cores, etc.

I do now since my garbage disposal is on the blink. I'm too cheap to replace it right now so I'm using a garbage bowl. I'm actually kind of liking it too!

Yes I do. My work place is on the opposite end of my kitchen from the trash can so I like to have somewhere to put scraps. I do a lot of canning and freezing so it is convenient when I am peeling things etc etc.

No. I work at my table with the sink right behind me so I just pivot and toss stuff in the sink. Garbage disposal eats them up.

I have a container for things for my compost pile, but I hang a grocery sack on a drawer knob and toss in stuff that isn't for the compost. Actually, I cook VERY little, so it's not much of a problem.

Anne Burrell, Secrets of a Restaurant Chef, calls it her "thank you for coming" bowl.

I work right next to the sink (with garbage disposal) and the garbage can is under the sink so no bowl needed.

I never watch Rachel ,but I have a stainless bowl in my sink at all times. I have an enormous soapstone sink so this serves as my "tiny" sink with soapy water in it to wash the counters. Other times it is filled with coffee grounds and fruit and veggies. We don't eat meat or meat products. I make a few trips a day to the compost pile. Paper and other garbage go in the pull out cupboard behind the sink and bottles and cans get recycled.

I wash and save my strofoam meat containers...use them and toss.Or sometimes I stretch a plastic grocery bag over a drwawer and scrape it all in that.

We have the "chicken bucket". All veggie ends and parings, used paper towels, leftovers forgotten in the back of the fridge, and meat scraps (no bones) go in there and it's taken out to the chickens. They run to the fence when they see me coming with it. They especially like it during canning season! They eat what they want, the rest gets mixed with the straw along with the exit material from the chickens and it all gets mixed in with the grass clippings in the compost bin. Figure first time through the chicken is better than it rotting in the pile. Double duty if you will.

I went to a composting demo and they said chickensh was the best for the compost pile. Lots of nitrogen.
