Hi! Need count for Minnesota Get-together!

I'm not here often, but I looking forward to our gathering.

Is it possible to get an idea of how many we are going to have. I'm still wondering if we need the park shelter. I hate to rent it for only a half dozen people.

Please let me know (only if you plan on coming.)

I also need to know if your spouse is coming. DH is sure hoping for some men!

Hey doll!! Great to see you here! I know what you mean about being so far behind....I'm with ya on that one! LOL I decided that I would organize my pictures and memorabilia in a big box. I go through the new pictures as they are developed and sort them into order by date. I separate one bunch from the next with a piece of cardboard. I also stick in a sticky note incase I have a brainstorm of ideas, so that I won't forget by the time I get to those pictures. This is working out really well, and although I am only just now working on Christmas 1998...I don't feel so bad because everything is organized!! I know all about small additions with kitchens that equal big bucks! Although mine is a little larger than 50 square feet, but not by much. It is depressing. I feel like we followed our architect's lead and got led down a rosy path but also got some very good professional judgment (as well as nice work) so it's confusing. If the estimate is based on the architect's drawings and specifications then it should be apples to apples in comparing the bids. If you haven't completed decisions on things like appliances and fixtures you can get all the bids without those (which you can get costs for easily anyway) just to make sure they are pricing the same thing. In our case the architect said that the different firms they recommended were all going to come in around the same cost and the same quality and since we really liked one over the others that's who we went with to get a bid and move forward (we're supposed to start in June). The problems for us really started with the one *estimate* we got (different GC) which was terribly LOW compared to reality. This was what we based our initial decisions on. This started us on the path to having plans drawn up that completely and overwhelming exceeded our budget. Now we're in what I hope are our last throes of making changes to get ready to rumble. By the way, the guy who did the low-balled estimate later would not bid the job unless either he was the only bid we were getting (of course we could still have rejected him and moved on) OR we paid him $3,500 to prepare the bid. It would have been interesting to have had him bid on the job since I think his estimate was 50% off (a poor basis for us to have made decisions)! Later we found out that the architect expected that GC's bid would be off by 20%.

OHhhhh.... I bet Linda isn't going to be able to drive. That is a big disappointment.

I'm still living with our son and hoping for the miracle of an earlier closing on the new house.

If the weather at that time of the gathering is as great as it is right now, we will have a perfect day. We have had 4 days in a row that have been perfect!

I will be there. I get my stitches out on the 15th. I am going to start doing a little driving around town today.

I'd really love to come. My car isn't that dependable. While it hasn't given me any problems, I'm planning on trading it in, hopefully this fall. So I haven't put new tires on it, and the a/c isn't working. I'd love to see everyone too. I've hinted to Mom about it, and where it is, (she has a nephew in Minneapolis she could visit too)but seems she didn't get the hint.
That, and the guy finally gave me a quote on the pad I'm having poured for my trailer. While it's cheaper than what I'd thought it'd be, I better save the extra that I'd use for gas. I was hoping someone in my area would go, and we could split the gas.
Take lots of pictures, and post them please.

I thought about coming if I had that Friday before off but I don't. It's only about an 11 1/2 hour drive. ) : Will look forward to your pictures!

Greetings kathsgrdn,

Here's whatcha do.

Find a couple of folks nearby who'd like to attend.

Travel together.

That way the gas is much less costly.

That way you get to sleep about 1/4 of the way (you wouldn't be willing to stay out of the conversation for much more).

That's upwards of three hours.

Half way toward the beauty sleep that you require daily, no?

There's no way I could make it, don't get home from work till around 9 pm Friday. I'd have to stay up all night after working 12 1/2 hours...not gonna happen.

I plan to start a new post today.
I just haven't had time to put it together yet.
I think I have eight people so far.

Some general answers:
We will be at my house.
Plan on coming 11:00 - 12:00 until 3 or 4 or so.
We will pick up picnic food at a local Grocery Deli. and share the cost.
I haven't even thought about beverage (some preference would help) But please wait until I start the new post, OK.

I will need you to email me (through My Page) so I can give you directions - when I figure them out.
