Nope. Did not take much of a honeymoon trip. We married on a holiday weekend (to get the extra day). Traveled about 100 miles away from the wedding site and stayed our first night together in a small hotel. Used the next day to take a leisurely drive back to our first apartment, and on the third day, set up our living quarters. I had started a new job fresh out of college 3 months prior ot the wedding was was due back on the job the next day following the 3 day weekend. My wife had one more year of college and she was busy registering for classes. We lived on ahoestring that first year. My wife graduated the next year and things began to look up economically. But her first year of work was an internship (required for state certification) that did not pay well. Two years later, we started our family and thankfully by then, my job had begun to pay better - enough to support us and new baby. Since that first year, we have taken a sight-seeing trip almost every year for vacation for the next 30 years. We still take trips, but the focus has broadened because we have seen many of the scenic places that were on our list.

I agree, I don't think the cooking lesson is what this couple truly needed to work on. They have no problem connecting on a sexual level. Although maybe the experts felt there is no emotional connection, only a physical one and the cooking class would help them communicate desires and needs. I thought last weeks exercise with the fish bowl questions touched on that subject, but maybe I am wrong. I hope that Jason lets Courtney meet his mom. I think it's important that he share this with her, it obviously hurts her and not all for selfish reasons. Courtney could be such a great source of support for both he and his mom. If I were his mom I would want to meet Courtney. Given that I only had little time left, I think it would be important to not only know my son is happy, but to see the connection for myself. I do see the flip side as well in that Jason is very protective of his mom. I was really proud of Jamie for sharing the painful part of her life with Doug. He is so supportive and caring. Doug's mom isn't so guarded, so I was happy to see that. Given that is was only 3 weeks since the marriage I think most the friends and families of these couples are quite supportive. The upcoming episode looks to be more drama for Monet and Vaughn. No surprise there!

Ravencajun, there was a divorce in the first year's show. The couple hadn't merged thoroughly, and were only together about a month and a half, so I'm guessing it was just one of those walk away with what you brought situations. They may also have them sign pre-nups off camera. The harder part would be if this weren't "an experiment" and a TV show where they're told they have to decide to stay together or split at the end of the show's timeline. I always wondered what that meant, and it may be that the show pays for the divorce if they decide to split at that time, or something like that. After that, it's like any divorce. :) Pickyshopper, for a TV show, I agree with you 100%. There's a certain amount of peril in being legally wed in a state where divorces take time. Peril makes for great drama. In answering, "So would YOU have ever considered being married at first sight?"my answer is no, but I might have considered being engaged and committing to a goal of marriage. What I definitely would not have ever done is do it on TV! My cultural underpinnings take engagements very seriously, and marriages even more so. I couldn't go into a marriage with the idea that if it just doesn't work out we'll decide to divorce in six weeks. This is also why Jewish couples usually have the signing of the marriage contract (which is, essentially, a symbolic pre-nup, but some people make it their actual pre-nups) right before the wedding. It has as much weight as a marriage, and is as hard to undo, so they wait until they're really sure they're going through with it. :)

Yes, in a way I did...I met him when I was 12, in a hospital bed with a broken femur with my leg in traction (way back in 1950)...He was in the adjoining room with burns to his arms but he was able to walk and the nurses would tell him to visit that little girl next door....Even after he was discharged, he'd still come to visit and then I was sent home in a full body cast and flat on my back for another 6 months and there he was still visiting...He had graduated from HS, went into the Army and we wrote, daily, back and forth and shortly after he came home, we were married...I had graduated, was only 17 and he was 22...AND here we are, married almost 63 years, 5 kids, 13 grand kids and 3 great grands...Sadly, he was diagnosed with dementia 3 years ago and it's not been an easy time...There are days when he has no idea who I am but then when he calls me "Hon", I know he's still with me....So many keep telling me, I need to place him in a home but he took care of me all those years and now it's my turn...As long as I'm breathing and able, I'm determined to keep him in the house we've lived in for all these years......
