That spot at top keeps opening and bleeding. but it wasn't deep enough to stitch.

It's feeling pretty good this morning...but it is in an inconvient place...

I'm trying to be careful.

I need to get dishes rinsed and in dishwasher, so I'm going to store to get rubber gloves.

I wanted to say ...those two puncture spots at the bottom, hurt the most...but I couldn't get it to load when I went back to the preview....

That looks like a pretty big ouchy! Hope it heals quickly - take care of it and keep it dry.

Thanks! That's a good idea. I'll have to get some of this years photos together for an update. Yeah Pete, I'm in Patriot Indiana (the middle of nowhere) about two and a half hours from Columbus. The hill side drainage is great except for the top soil washing down the hill leaving rocks and clay with the occasional low spots of great soil. There's also springs of water that gush out during rainstorms from all the water coming down the hill. It is a fun and interesting landscape to work with. Pete, are you a member of the ACS (American Conifer Society)? There's a conifer weekend happening in Columbus next week the 14th and the 15th. Two days of touring great private gardens and a few public gardens in the Columbus area. The evenings wrap up with stuffing your face with fellow coneheads. There's sometimes an auction with cool plants for sale too. The deadline for registration was the 5th but I'm sure that they could squeeze you in. I think the membership is $35 a year. If you want the info, PM me and I'll email it to you. Would be cool to see you there. If not, no pressure. I'm not the most social person but I have fun when I push myself to go.

Thanks, Holiday-ers, I'm glad you enjoyed the view from my LR window...appreciate your gracious comments. jane...the fruit feeder has top & bottom (as seen in pic) w/hole cut out for clear glass custard cup size (so you can see when the jelly is gone!) Plus an archway between the top & bottom for spacing...rope for hanger & 2 screws from the bottom up for the orange halves. Orioles love it...also we get Catbirds who enjoy it. Squirrels do attack (sometimes)...but fruit feeder is on Shepherd's hook & they don't seem to bother it much...we tap on the windows ALOT! & send our dog out the front door often, too! LOL! Ahhh, dust bunnies are certainly multiplying around here...but it's ok...got to be out on the nice days! And I've been enjoying the bunny tureens on the forum lately, too! Thanks, everyone! TG, it's not a Texas thing (that's just what that particular study was focused on), it's a human thing. When we want to fit in, or just be well understood, in a group who speak differently, we tend to pick up bits of their accents (unconsciously--though I'm sure Mimipadv is right about the pandering, and could add con men to the list who do it on purpose), and if it's an accent from our native cultures, even if not our normal way of speech, we tend to go in for the whole thing to the degree to which we want to fit in. If we want to establish ourselves as the real deal, the accent may actually be stronger for than the people who always speak that way. It works the opposite way too. People who want to retain their senses of who they are find it difficult to lose their accents when speaking in a foreign language. They may have surface thoughts that they really want to speak more like a native, but in their hearts they don't want to let go of their own ways of speaking. There's often an element of classism in that. You've heard the old saw about everyone attending Oxford University coming out with the Oxford accent? I don't know that that's true anymore, and in the past there have been people who have worked hard to shed it, but, in general, when anyone with foreign or lower class accent was there, there would be such massive social pressure to change that it happened and stuck through their lives. Similarly, when people feel the opposite of wanting to fit in, especially if they feel that their origins are superior to the group they're among, their own accents are less likely to soften. That doesn't have to be class based, or alienation, however, and could just be retaining a sense of identity to their origins and selfhoods. Or something like that. :) I have a friend I rarely see in person (we e-mail a lot), who is from D.C. I noticed last time we had dinner together--here in California--that I was stretching words at the end of an intonation (I think that's what it is) in the D.C. way. I guess that was my unconscious way of embracing her. :) My own accent pops out most when I'm with people who speak with a Western drawl, but it retains that, um, well, "surfer" bit.

Ouch is right!! That looks painful, and "inconvenient" doesn't begin to describe it, I'm sure.

I had to keep my bandaged right hand dry for a week after the surgery. I bought vinyl gloves for doing dishes (I later saw the same ones at Dollar Tree), and I used disposable latex gloves for a lot of other things. The doctor recommended a plastic bag on my hand for showers, but it wasn't as effective as I'd hoped.

Wow, you really did a number on your poor hand! I hope it heals quickly, and that you have ointment to prevent infection.

(Can't someone else do the dishes for the time being -- or maybe get some paper plates & plastic utensils while you're shopping for rubber gloves?)

Patti, when I read about your accident, I thought about how hard it would be to wash dishes. Paper plates, paper plates!

I would think some hand exercises from time to time would help to keep it supple.

Heck with paper plates that gal needs to be taken out to eat!

That looks so painful, Patti, you take good care of it, the last thing you need is for an infection to set in.

Ok I wasn't going to look because yes it does bother me. But I was going to tell you where it bothers me. I wonder if anyone else in the world is the same.

When I see something painful or hear it, I get a painful sensation in, well, the crotch area. Okay there I've told the whole world. I am female but I must have testicles drawing up somewhere when I get creeped out. Anyone else know what I mean?

Sorry about your hand. It does look awful. It makes me hurt, down there.

Oh Patti, that does look painful. Maybe you can get the two males in your house to pitch in and do dishes. I am going to try to load my dishwasher today for the first time since last week when I cut my arm.
Be sure to keep your hand dry so it does not get infected. Also, try not to use your hand so it does not bleed.

Patti, I am soooo sorry you hurt your sweet self. Do take care, keep it dry and clean. I know it is in a place that is most uncomfortable. I am so thankful it is your left hand and not your right hand...how are you managing at the computer?

Oh my- that IS a bad cut & in an awful spot! Lucky you didn't cut nerves, tendons, etc.

Tell your guys that hand won't heal if you continue to use it so they better cook, serve & clean or bring something good to eat when they come home. As others have said, you gotta' take serious precaution against infection and let it heal & not rip open from overuse!

OR...hang a sign saying:
NO COOK ON DUTY-
NO SERVER ON DUTY-
NO DISHWASHER ON DUTY so,
"KITCHEN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE"

Paper plates???? duh, You shouldn't even begin to cook--Its your turn to be treated like a QUEEN! Ya know, take-out, or go out to eat, Definitely NO cleaning, etc! OK??

If you aren't doing so already (ask your doc first), apply a small amount of aloe vera to the area daily as the wound is healing.

Once the damaged area has healed and you are left with a scar, put vitamin E oil on the scarred area every night - go to Walmart and buy some vitamin E oil and keep applying it - it will help with the scarring issue.

Patti Patti Patti you have ever excuse to play good and get the treatment.lOL.Do not worry about dishes ,housework,Get you a sofe place to lay or sit and stay there.Let your meals be brought to you and let them worry about what meals will be cooked.Here I am trying to think of excuses ever day so I can get out of house work,cooking,etc., and here you are you got the excuse.LOL.Just kidding,Hope you heal fast and get back to your daily duties whatever you want to do.Hugs judy
