That spot at top keeps opening and bleeding. but it wasn't deep enough to stitch.

It's feeling pretty good this morning...but it is in an inconvient place...

I'm trying to be careful.

I need to get dishes rinsed and in dishwasher, so I'm going to store to get rubber gloves.

I wanted to say ...those two puncture spots at the bottom, hurt the most...but I couldn't get it to load when I went back to the preview....

Thanks! That's a good idea. I'll have to get some of this years photos together for an update. Yeah Pete, I'm in Patriot Indiana (the middle of nowhere) about two and a half hours from Columbus. The hill side drainage is great except for the top soil washing down the hill leaving rocks and clay with the occasional low spots of great soil. There's also springs of water that gush out during rainstorms from all the water coming down the hill. It is a fun and interesting landscape to work with. Pete, are you a member of the ACS (American Conifer Society)? There's a conifer weekend happening in Columbus next week the 14th and the 15th. Two days of touring great private gardens and a few public gardens in the Columbus area. The evenings wrap up with stuffing your face with fellow coneheads. There's sometimes an auction with cool plants for sale too. The deadline for registration was the 5th but I'm sure that they could squeeze you in. I think the membership is $35 a year. If you want the info, PM me and I'll email it to you. Would be cool to see you there. If not, no pressure. I'm not the most social person but I have fun when I push myself to go.

Since your bean's leaf margins are in tact, I would suspect insects are to blame as has been mentioned. That aside, there are several other things that need clearing up here. First off, I'm a plumbing contractor with 44 years experience. If you are using "softened" water, it is being flushed through a brine tank that has been back-washed with either sodium chloride or potassium chloride. Neither is any good for a plant; each will KILL your plants. A reverse-osmosis device will NOT remove these salts. Use plain, unsoftened tap water. If you can't find any, buy a bag of ice from the store and let it melt. That is pure-enough water! Check the EC of whatever water you wind up using. My "tap" water is 1.2 EC and I grow at from 1.4 to 1.8, so you can see I have to be careful when crafting my nutrients. Next, a "neutral pH" sounds like trouble. Use this link: http://www.gthydro.com/vegetables.html to view some common pH values for plants. Growing in a "neutral pH" won't work for long! I use a nutrient that is self-buffering, but I'm not so sure of the properties of yours. Use this link: http://www.gthydro.com/vegetables.html to view some common EC values for plants. You already know where I stand with EC meters, so we won't go there. Suffice to say, you must have the proper EC and pH for stuff to grow properly. As far as water temperature goes, you're fine. Once a plant is in the "vegetative" stage, a root temp of 84 degrees is "heaven", but the nutrient must be both oxygenated and circulated or other problems will develop. Have you ever tried static hydroponics using perlite? It doesn't get any easier than that!

don't mix yellow beige's with pinkish beige's Those two kinds of beiges when placed together can create an odd, unnatural color harmony. In general, those two kinds of colors can benefit and look their best when used with other colors -- they don't make the easiest color partnership to work with. The yellow beige, pinky beige situation is not an impossible circumstance. I believe -- I know -- that there are color solutions for every color challenge. The yellow beige/pinky beige is one of the tougher challenges and sometimes just might be beyond the grasp of DIY colorists. white in a low light room will not make the room look brighter, just more dim. Not necessarily "more dim" because the quality of light will still be the quality of light. Dim is dim. If the room receives an amount of natural light that is best described as "dim", it's still going to be dim even if you paint the walls white. The quality of natural light didn't change. Only the wall color changed to white. Intuitively it would seem that white would be the antidote to cure dim. But that's not how it works because color and light are partners. White is comprised of many wavelengths of light and it needs a light source that is robust and full to look pretty . Dim light doesn't give white paint much in the way of wavelengths to reflect back into the space -- and that's what white does, reflect. The problem is this. The sunroom, which is really part of the house and we just call it that since it has 7 windows and gets alot of south and western light, is still casting a greenish cast to the Latte. It literally looks like a different color than what is in the living room. I will live with it but for the future could you tell me where I went wrong and what I should do for the future It's that color and light partnership thing again. One color isn't going to look the same in every room due to varying qualities of inherent light -- like you've discovered. Assuming that one color is going to work in every room probably isn't the best thing to assume. You still have to sample and evaluate each paint color in each room. Determining a color's undertone is just one small step. Rules about what kinds of undertones are suppose to go with -- or not go with -- other kinds of undertones do not deal with the reality of color in three-dimensional spaces. Remember how I said that once you establish a sense of undertone for a color, you still have to evaluate it carefully in the room, in the context that it will reside? We need to do that because we cannot look at colors in isolation, the appearance of any color is affected by what surrounds it. For the next time you have to make some color choices, I'd say don't get so wrapped around the rules and what everyone says is suppose to work or not work. Relax your expectations for paint colors; they don't have to be so tight and so high. Stay organized and trust your instincts and what you *see* and go with your gut more. Focus on your core paint color knowledge. You now understand undertones a whole lot better than you did before. You may have made a few mistakes in your opinion, but don't focus on the mistakes. Instead focus on what you learned. Use that experience to *see* color better next time. When the time comes to buy a new sofa, focus on how the fabric samples look in the room and do your best to make a decision. When the time comes to get a new stair runner, then deal with the stair runner. Don't look too far ahead. You can only effectively color for your now. Make the best color decisions that you can one at a time and any future color decisions will fall easier into place -- that's actually one way to interpret "building a color scheme".

I wrote the below on the BAH Forum last night, but it applies to Remodels as well. There is a Big Reason that engineers are on Joe's ''Double Secret Probation'' status when he initially gives them a quote. Everyone in the building industry does the same. They usually get the PITA tax too. Point him at another problem. (Quick! Look at the big steaming pile here! OMG! You HAVE to solve thisBIG problem.) And unless you intend to keep all 57 pieces of your cast iron collection in that cabinet, blocking at the side is counterproductive and to be avoided. __________________________________________ Enginerds are genetically unsuited to building a home. They think they know all there is to know about something that is a lot more art than science, and then they think they know all about the science too. And they're never happy with the details that anyone either discusses or creates. Engineers should tell their spouse 3 things that they want that are non negotiable, and then let the spouse deal with the rest of the entire transaction by hiring a Pro. And yeah, I have 73 years of personal experience dealing with them. One irascible worse know it all than me shares the other half of the king sized bed and is on my last nerve tonight. They are also the biggest whiny know it all babies in the world when they are sick.

Ouch is right!! That looks painful, and "inconvenient" doesn't begin to describe it, I'm sure.

I had to keep my bandaged right hand dry for a week after the surgery. I bought vinyl gloves for doing dishes (I later saw the same ones at Dollar Tree), and I used disposable latex gloves for a lot of other things. The doctor recommended a plastic bag on my hand for showers, but it wasn't as effective as I'd hoped.

Wow, you really did a number on your poor hand! I hope it heals quickly, and that you have ointment to prevent infection.

(Can't someone else do the dishes for the time being -- or maybe get some paper plates & plastic utensils while you're shopping for rubber gloves?)

Patti, when I read about your accident, I thought about how hard it would be to wash dishes. Paper plates, paper plates!

I would think some hand exercises from time to time would help to keep it supple.

Heck with paper plates that gal needs to be taken out to eat!

That looks so painful, Patti, you take good care of it, the last thing you need is for an infection to set in.

Ok I wasn't going to look because yes it does bother me. But I was going to tell you where it bothers me. I wonder if anyone else in the world is the same.

When I see something painful or hear it, I get a painful sensation in, well, the crotch area. Okay there I've told the whole world. I am female but I must have testicles drawing up somewhere when I get creeped out. Anyone else know what I mean?

Sorry about your hand. It does look awful. It makes me hurt, down there.

Oh Patti, that does look painful. Maybe you can get the two males in your house to pitch in and do dishes. I am going to try to load my dishwasher today for the first time since last week when I cut my arm.
Be sure to keep your hand dry so it does not get infected. Also, try not to use your hand so it does not bleed.

Patti, I am soooo sorry you hurt your sweet self. Do take care, keep it dry and clean. I know it is in a place that is most uncomfortable. I am so thankful it is your left hand and not your right hand...how are you managing at the computer?

Oh my- that IS a bad cut & in an awful spot! Lucky you didn't cut nerves, tendons, etc.

Tell your guys that hand won't heal if you continue to use it so they better cook, serve & clean or bring something good to eat when they come home. As others have said, you gotta' take serious precaution against infection and let it heal & not rip open from overuse!

OR...hang a sign saying:
NO COOK ON DUTY-
NO SERVER ON DUTY-
NO DISHWASHER ON DUTY so,
"KITCHEN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE"

Paper plates???? duh, You shouldn't even begin to cook--Its your turn to be treated like a QUEEN! Ya know, take-out, or go out to eat, Definitely NO cleaning, etc! OK??

If you aren't doing so already (ask your doc first), apply a small amount of aloe vera to the area daily as the wound is healing.

Once the damaged area has healed and you are left with a scar, put vitamin E oil on the scarred area every night - go to Walmart and buy some vitamin E oil and keep applying it - it will help with the scarring issue.
