We Got Rain!

I did not realize we had gotten so much rain until I checked my garden this morning. I need to get a rain gauge but know we got over an inch last night. I am very grateful for what rain we did get. I am leaving for church in a little while with the kids. Did anyone else get some rain overnight?

A little bit here in ND, but need more. Grain crops need the moisture to form heads and corn needs it to produce better ears.

It's 9:43am and waiting for the clouds to burst any minute. However, that seems to be the cruel joke lately. Dark clouds move in....then drift right on by.

Lol, Kylie I was thinking the same thing. We go months with no good rain. Its gotten hot here again too and almost all my Naughty Nick buds are brown and dried up. I wanted to cry. I still have a couple of very small ones hanging on unless they turn out to be leaves like I saw on Chantilly Lace. They were leaves and just tightly curled and fuzzy so its hard to tell sometimes. I have been watering a lot more after it got hot again but it didn't help. My older noid brug is loaded though. I moved her into more shade today in hopes that she can hang onto them. I have never had a flush as large as this one will be if they can make it.

Rain is good. Wind damage not so much. The plants should be fine as long as the roots weren't torn up out of the ground. No rain here yet, but still hoping for some on one of these somewhat cooler days.

Yea, Diane! I'm sure the garden plants are rejoicing. We got our rain around 6 a.m. today. Most of it fell in a fairly brief period this morning, an dthen we had intermittent light sprinkles until about noon. We got 1.25". We also had 1.25" last Monday, so maybe a pattern is developing. You know, I'd be thrilled if we could get 1.25" every week all summer long---NOT that such a thing is likely to happen. Any rain in summer is good, so I don't even mind the higher humidity and the sweat-soaked clothing. I'd rather work in the garden with a heat index of 84 like we have today, than one 20 degrees higher, which was common last week. I think all of us have a good chance of having some fruitset on our tomatoes and sweet peppers while the cooler temperatures stick around, so that's even more cause to rejoice! Dawn

I feel your pain Schoolhouse...looks the same here this morning. However, I'm watering cause I'm expecting another cruel joke. :(

Friday the 13th was lucky for us -- about a quarter inch of rain, along with thunder and lightning, but no wind! (Yea!)

Saturday we got a little more of the same, but most of those juicy dark clouds passed on by.

End of June our town limited watering for everyone to between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. Then the town started pumping four times the normal water so all watering was to halt. Now we're on alternate days 10 - 8. (Funny how *some* people's lawns are able to stay verdant...and there are few to no wells here. Not-LOL)

We got rain overnight on Friday and Saturday morning. Now it is just very humid with some thunderstorms possible. My annuals are turning crisp as is the lawn. I am tired of watering and watering and the flowers still look awful. At this point they can either die or be saved by Mother Nature.

We've had a bunch of those cruel joke "storms". The dark clouds roll in, I can hear the thunder and then -- the sun comes out again. What a stinking summer so far. I'm still grateful for the mild winter and lovely spring, though

We had a good thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. It rained so hard in such a short time that some of the streets in town were flooded.

oh how I wish we could shove this rain to you since we have so much already. And right this moment is is huge thunderboomers and a black sky.

I am happy for you I know how bad it was last year here when we were in such a dreadful drought.
