I had some buds drop too,but not all of them. I think it was the cool/hot/cool temps. we had. Got rain too!I'm sure there will be other buds along shortly.

How hard was the rain you had? I figure it's the same system that passed through here but I didn't suffer any damage. It just stopped raining this morning. Sorry to hear about the dropped buds, etc. Maybe it's not from the rain but from the conditions Theresa mentioned.

We got some really hard downpours. It actually woke me up a couple times. I kept cursing myself cuz I left some cushions and stuff outside by accident. Weather people kept saying rain rain rain, and we wouldnt get it. The last month or so, we hardly got any rain. On the radar, we'd have te heavy purple storms coming right towards us then split as soon as it got to my town, and go right aound us..we'd get nothing. So when they said yesterday that a few showers may be possible..I paid it no mind, lol. Yard is flooded, but soaking in pretty quick since it was so dry. I found a couple small tree branches down too.
I think it was the hard rain that got the buds. They were hangin tight yesterday..then this morning all snapped.

If it was hard enough to take down branches then it was probably the rain. We didn't have any heavy downpours, just a nice steady soaking rain. The sun looks like it's trying to come out now. I hope so.

o poo..I found another victim..my big beautiful marigolds I started from seed..WERE 23" tall & the same wide in one little pot..not any more. All smashed, stems broken, and flopped all over the place. dang it..and I just started liking marigolds this year because these grew so well for me.

Anyone know if I can cut them back? Will they continue to grow and bloom or will they just die?
Or should I just use first aid tape to try and fix em up, then stake them? ANother bummer. I dont even want to keep looking around.

Congrats on the rain.... I almost choked when I read it had been 2 WEEKS.. Give me a freakin break try 2 mo...ROFLMAO!!!
Our temps are back to almost 100 and the buds are dropping like flies..Hopefully I still have time to get some of the ones I haven't seen bloom yet bloom.. As wierd as the weather has been it seems very consistant for the past few yrs.. Not really diggin it!..LOL BUT ya got what ya got!
I bet they will recover quickly for you their goal in life is to bloom..

Here the waterdepartment is happy to get our water money lol.
Daniella they do come back so fast. HOpefully prettier then before. Like Kylie said.....their goal is to bloom.

Lol, Kylie I was thinking the same thing. We go months with no good rain. Its gotten hot here again too and almost all my Naughty Nick buds are brown and dried up. I wanted to cry. I still have a couple of very small ones hanging on unless they turn out to be leaves like I saw on Chantilly Lace. They were leaves and just tightly curled and fuzzy so its hard to tell sometimes. I have been watering a lot more after it got hot again but it didn't help. My older noid brug is loaded though. I moved her into more shade today in hopes that she can hang onto them. I have never had a flush as large as this one will be if they can make it.

hear about your buds, hopefully they will recover quickly
so you can see them bloom.

Daniella, they're sure to pop right back for you. That
wonderful rain WILL do wonders for your babies. As someone
said before...brugs arr soooo forgiving most of the time.
After about a month, we got four days of rain and what a
blessing!! Now, it's back to watering those darn pots
because the temps are going back up for a few ays. Oh
well...Mother Nature doesn't promise us the perfect
garden. Good luck with those buds!

That sux you are having the worst luck with your buds holding, and you are being such a good girl not touching them to make them fall off, lol! You already had buds on Chantilly lace, that was fast! I hope you get some more blooms before it is time to bring them in. I think I will have MM and MEM open in a week or so, and my NOID white seems to have been blooming since July keeps putting out buds, and also Inca sun is finishing up a flush, other thatn that I have the really tiny buds that are hard to tell if they are leaves or buds, I don't think they'll have time to form before I bring them in for the winter:(

yes I AM being a good girl, mother nature is just majorly PMS'ing this year I think...maybe it's menopause, lol.

One bud is still on the Chantilly Lace..seems to be holding..cross your fingers for me!!

You can tell if it is a bud or not by if it has a tiny white spot on the tip.

You've got alot goin on huh? Must look beautiful in your yard. When do you have to bring them in in z5? I should have till the end of Oct, hopefully almost the middle or end of November if this year is anything like last year.

Mine will probably have to come in at the beginning of next month I think, but I'm not sure, I will be keeping an eye on the weather for when they say we will be getting a frost. I never cared before I grew brugs because I didn't need to bring anything in but now I am going to have a lot of pots to lug in, some in the basement for dormancy and some of the less established ones will be kept going in windows, and I also want to root a backup cutting of ones that I can't live without, then trade the backups in the spring if the mother plant pulls through (which I hope they all do).
