Nice house for sale

One block from the library! A lot of house for the money, I think, compared to some. I love the exterior and the grounds. The interior has great potential, but I'll bet a lot of you could do better with the decor.

Wow, a lot of house for the money! I love it. But it would need lots of TLC and cash to make it a true showpiece. I love looking at older homes and imagining what I would do.

Curious--it this a house you are considering in buying or just sharing. It is a great looking place, but way too much for me at my age.

Can I hire you to stage my listings? You home looks fantastic! I have to agree with the above posters about the TV. I don't know if you have another Tv or a bonus room to put it in but it takes away from a otherwise flawless room. Your room will look bigger and space=$ The kitchen: Could you move the pretty rug for the MLS pics and showings? Little rugs while absolutely necessary for function show up as cluttery in pics. Again, I have to agree about the garbage can. If you don't have the undercabinet room for a small one, Consider buying a pretty metal one. Better there be a pretty one than just a totally functional one. My only other suggestion is putting some flowers in a vase for your dining table or something more substantial. That for the most part is just tweaking, it's great as is. I hope you don't mind your pics being my shining example when my sellers ask what I mean by uncluttered. Buyers are being a little fussy now. (I'm being polite-they are asking for the sun, moon and stars-and I'm in a GREAT market) I don't know alot about the Indy market but as long as your home is priced correctly, pretty (it is), you offer some $ towards closing the norm in my market is 3-3.5 of the listing price (that might be totally false in yours), offer the home warranty and it WILL sell. Spring is coming and in my area I am very optimistic for things to pick up. I think you did a WONDERFUL job and I'm serious about making you my shining example with your permission of course.

That house is a few miles from me and one I used to pass by regularly on my way to the local community house down the street from it. That would be the deal killer for me as there is traffic (foot, car, bike) at all times but significant traffic when there are major events held there. They have a huge Antiques & Modernism show every year as well as weddings, wine tastings..... and a fitness center. Beautiful neighborhood, what we call around here "a walk-to location" because you can walk to retail, commuter train, schools... - beach is a hike but a nice bike ride.

Sorry I missed that one. I could use a good quilting/estate sale right now. I'm taking box after box to the thrift store this week as I clean out a garage so will need to find junk to fill it back up with. And, I'd rather that junk be quilting related.

Home buyers: Do you drive around looking for houses for sale?

I search various real estate websites online, everyday. It's like a part time job for us. Not so much remax, century 21, or weichert, since their sites tend to be so overwhelming and cluttery. I tend to choose local real estate company websites, which in my experience have been a bit more accurate with more detail and clearer photos. If I find a house I like, I try everything to find the address to visit it first before wasting our agents time. Real estate agents aren't what they use to be (no offense). It use to be that they showed you houses that truly matched your criteria, now you can't trust an agent, especially if you live out of state. They will show you the junkiest houses, in the worst neighborhoods, with no regards to your wishes or needs, and let me tell you we're not picky. All we're looking for is a fixer upper on a wooded secluded lot. We're willing to do the roof, the floors, doors, trim. All we need is at least 3 bed, 1 bth, but leave it to your agent to show you houses that are undoable. In their defense though, I understand they have to show off the houses that have been sitting for a while to demonstrate effort to the seller, however, it's not cool when your agent knows you're driving 3-4 hours to see a house and you have specifically asked them if the house is secluded and they tell you yes, only to get there and see another house in plain view. Thank goodness we decided to rent in the area we're looking so we don't have to drive 3-4 hours anymore..

We drove through Honesdale on one of our weekend jaunts and I remember seeing quite a few lovely Victorian homes.

No, I'm not thinking about it for myself. I'm just sharing because I know a lot of us at the KT enjoy looking at houses. Especially houses we would never consider buying. :-)

What a fabulous house! I love to dream about what it would be like to live in a huge house that is so beautiful! I live in a really little house in Levittown but I do love to look! Thanks for posting this!

I know what you mean, June. If only... Thanks for posting that house, Susan, it's just gorgeous. I love looking at houses so, of course, I looked at all 86 pictures! :-) I grew up in a beautiful old house which, as a kid, I didn't appreciate. Sure wish I had it now.

I can just imagine sitting on that wonderful porch in a porch swing with a nice breeze blowing.
I love to look at the old ones but not own one, my sister did though she bought and restored several much like that.

Oh my, I'm so jealous! You would get a small, two bedroom fixer-upper with practically no yard for that price in my area. Well, at least I don't have to heat the place. :-)

What a lovely home. I would love to be able to find eastern homes here in the southwest. However, I would need air conditioning to be happy.

I love that house!! I can see what you mean about the decorating though, but lots of potential here! I love that little corner bathroom sink area, it must be upstairs maybe. I can see a nice Bed & Breakfast with this.........or just a single family enjoying that great house! lol!

Over here that would cost a whole lot more.

I wish I had the money to buy it, fix it up and enjoy it -- a great house, with even greater potential.
