This ball of fuzz been following me for quater of a mile - anyone know who is it?

I believe the striking marks make this a Montezuma Quail, a young one or female. It is a bird of Mexican Mountains, and normally reaching the United States only in southern Arizona, New Mexico, and western Texas.

Vetaal's bird is a White Crowned Sparrow.

We are puppy sitting today...Lily misses her family.

I agree with gazania. It looks like a white crowned sparrow. We get them in southern California in late winter & spring. I think they are funny because they are a ground bird & scratch the dirt like chickens.

I've not seen one look so puffy - it might be a fledgling. Sure cute. Good picture, vetaal.
