Do you think he likes his new floaty?

    La Jolla, CA

I think I erroneously posted a similar photo two weeks ago calling this beach Coronado. We went so many places in San Diego that weekend (including Coronado) that it all became a blur.

A Cedar Waxwing having some berries....

Nice pics, everyone! I'm especially drawn to the cedar waxwing and the bug!

Indiana, the bird is stunning! What a beautiful animal.

I came across this grave marker at Forest Lawn in Burbank, CA, recently when searching for a friend's grave. Gene Autrey's wife's marker was right next to his.

    I love all the pictures! Sand . . . water . . . strong, healthy cyclists (Moni, I'm jealous!) . . . a gorgeous bird I haven't seen in years here . . . an interesting gravestone . . . and a bug that's probably been destroying my lettuce. :-)

Here's my beloved cop car (16 years old!), snapped yesterday on impulse:

No more pictures? I know--my cop car scared you away!

Who wants to go to the tide pools?

I love tide pools. Bigbaby and I saw some in Hawaii that were fantastic.

Kathy, do the star fish survive out of the water till the next tide comes in?

Alisande, I laughed at the car but did not post, not wanting to offend you. You mean you drive a retired cop car? It just struck me as so funny!

Fabulous tide pool shot. Where was that?

Beautiful photos. Think I'll stick one in, too.
    Backlit fern...

Beautiful fern, and the tidepools make he want to take off my shoes.

Socks, that's okay . . . my son-in-law laughs at my car all the time. It's a running joke between us. But the fact is I really love that car. It's not an actual retired cop car (you can tell by the upscale wheels); it was four years old when I bought it in 1996. In winter I drive a Toyota 4Runner--great car--but in summer I can't wait to get behind the wheel of my Caprice. The driving experience is like no other.

PS: When I first bought it, cops were still driving Caprices, and mine often intimidated other drivers, who would slow down when they saw it on the highway. Tee-hee.....

Moni what kind of bike is that with the shield?
    Kittywhiskers

It's a long wheel base recumbent. The shield is optional, Kelly likes it.

Did you see Kelly's journal link in my journal?

The tide pool was at Lincoln City at Spanish Head.
My daughter in law the Marine Bilogist sent me this (TMI!) after I asked her about it:

The star fish are common purple stars (Pisaster ochraceus). They can be other colors like orange depending on where they live. Ones exposed to a lot of waves and surf action are generally orange, where ones in protected calm waters are generally purple. Sea stars can be stacked together. They slowly move to engulf their food (prey like clams, mussels, and oysters) so you may have just caught them traveling to more food. They are not stationary creatures. They are really gross when they eat too. Sea stars slowly pull shells open and then throw their own stomachs into the shellfish. They eat and digest shellfish right inside of the shells and it can take a couple of days to occurs.
