Free apps that aren't free

I got a blackberry playbook and have been adding games etc I downloaded free solitaire and now during the game I keep getting a message that if I pay .99 I can continue to play without interruptions....I don't mind paying the .99 but how does that make it free?

I had to go play the game to get the correct wording of the message it says for the full version I can pay the .99 this message comes up every few minutes and takes 6 seconds before it will allow me to cancel it and continue to play. The irritation factor will probably win out and I will end up paying the .99 but it's the principle that bothers me the most.

Lots of free apps contain ads. It's the way things are.

Thanks for mentioning this! I am having so much fun exploring my new house. I've been looking for a decent 3D program with more options than the IKEA room planner. That program did a better job of letting me really dig into my kitchen layout and cabinet plans but I couldn't put in furniture. This works so much better for actually getting into the rooms and walking around to make sure that it correlates and there is enough room for everything we want / need to include. And with DH traveling he can actually see what I am talking about when we discuss changes. So far, I've created our great room & kitchen, our master suite and will focus on my craft room and DH's office next. I'll have our whole house planned out in 3D before we even start digging.

Would have made the most sense posted to the Name That Plant forum.......Gardenweb's very own plant ID "app" :-)) And that one is correct almost 100% of the time! And pretty darn fast about it as well! I have yet to see a real phone plant ID app that was more than just slightly accurate. That technology has not yet been perfected.

Thank you for sharing this. I'm being bombarded with so many "free to download" apps that I can't keep them straight. The review you shared helps immensely because it caters to what I want, as well as Down Dog's additional HIIT, etc. What a great resource. Thanks!

Is there a free app or website to visualize a pool in your yard?

We use a design program from Structure Studios. Pool Studio is one of their programs which can generate plan view, 3D and a "fly through" renderings. You could call them and ask if their is someone in your area who has purchased their product. Perhaps a local designer can help you out. https://www.structurestudios.com/software/3d-swimming-pool-design-software?campaignmsclkidutm_sourceutm_mediumutm_campaignutm_termutm_content

Many apps come in a "free," "sample," or "Lite" version. If you like the "lite" app, you can upgrade to the paid version.

I have about 200 apps loaded in my iPod Touch. Many were out-and-out free, and very useful, some were paid (and worth every penny like "MyStuff2" and the iBird apps), and with some I started out with the free/lite version and once I realized how much I'd use them, I later upgraded.

get a different app my fave is the Solitaire free pack it has a ton of card games and the graphics are very good, it does have small ads but never what you describe.

For every one app there will be many many more that do the same thing so go through a few to find what you like.

Aces solitaire is also a good choice.
