I would put some wax paper or parchment over it and go over it with a warm iron. That should soften it up enough to peel most of it off. Then a rewash should get rid of the residue.

I have also used (are you ready?) Mr. Clean sponges to get rid of gunk or soil on clothing.

WD40 is often used for sticky residues. Alcohol is another possibility as is GooGone and DeSolvit. I've just used duct tape. Put the tape on over the adhesive, press firmly to get a good contact and a quick rip off takes much of the adhesive. The adhesives stick to each other. Another trick is to freeze the fabric and the residue will harden and can be scraped or pulled off. I'd probably try that first. Many have said plain old peanut butter works too but I've never tried it.

I googled "Removing sticker adhesive" and cynics solutions were on there. Have to admit I was leary of his..mainly because many have an oil base. BUT..that was addressed in one of the solutions....right after then you use DAWN DISH SOAP on that area and it will remove the oily residue, so you don't replace one problem with another. Dawn works wonders, so I'd say...Listen to Cynic!

DO NOT USE waxed paper--the wax will melt into the jeans and leave a stain.

I'd go with alcohol, myself. It generally does a good job on adhesive and shouldn't really harm cotton.

How about Goo Gone

I'd try the rubbing alcohol. That should take it off.

Lighter fluid used to do it. I don't know if they still sell can's of that or not. I just read a helpful hint e-mail today about the many uses of vodka. To remove bandages without pain, soak it with vodka.

I'm with Joann... Goo Gone should get that off in a flash with no problems.

Goo Gone will take the residue of the sticky strip off and then wash with Dawn as the pretreatment. It will take the residue of the Goo Gone off :^) I used this combo just last week....an that's all I'm sayin' :^)

I always use a pre laundry treatment like spray and wash to remove residue from stickers on windows and furniture.
Just spray it on and wait about 5 minutes. Rub the area with your finger and the residue will ball up and come right off. No harm at all to fabrics. Works like a charm everytime! The nice thing is, most of us have it readily available in our homes.

The best product I have found for removing anything with adhesive is Un-Du adhesive remover. This product is usually found in the crafts/scrapbook section of discount stores, or in scrapbook stores. It is somewhat expensive, but it is worth every penny! It leaves no residue, unlike other products I have used.

Use a piece of newspaper (possibly prior to printing - several newspapers offer ends-of-rolls, which are good for making flip-charts, at their customer service desk) under the iron, rather than waxed paper.
