It's a real swamp around here (Tulsa). A few people have tried to mow but just leave deep ruts in their yards. Your yard looks wonderful, but of course it could use a few more daylilies (and my other preferred flower - roses)-LOL. Happy 4th to you. May it be a sunny one for both of us.

Every year sometime around the 4th, or whenever I'm really P.O.'d at a particularly under-performing worm bin, I honor Independence Day by blowing it up. What I've found in a last few years is that all the "competing" bins seem to ramp up activity for about a month leading up to boom day. Then, after a brief period of mourning, production tapers off from that frantic pace a little....but never to pre-detonation day levels. Sometimes progress requires sacrifice. Keeping them on their toes works very well in the long run. Chuckiebtoo BTW....choose a blast site in an area of your property that most could use some vermicompost help. The epicenter of the explosion will evenly distribute equal parts VC, EF, bedding materials, and some larger chunks of plastic tote debris which is easily swept up so you can fill in that 6" depression in the lawn. Great aeration technique too.

Thank you Theresa!! and I hope your holiday weather is cooler than ours!!! The closest I have gotten to Canada was through EPCOT lol and I love the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. I hope to one day see them in person. While I am so glad we have reason to celebrate our Independence, the heat and humidity makes it my least celebrated holiday! We run outside to put up flags - and run back inside. When my children were smaller I would fight the traffic to take them so see fireworks - sometimes getting home after midnight and getting up early the next day for work. Now it is a peaceful, home in the AC celebration lol! Rosa

I had planned to do as little as possible, but now I have a fallen tree in the backyard that I need to finish cutting up. I was using my Jeep to haul tree trash to the local compost yard. however, on my last trip, I noted the engine temperature was out of control - It would approach normal and then fall back to cool. Indications are the thermostat has failed. I got all the supplies to service the coolant system and that has to be done tomorrow if I am to use the Jeep on saturday. (The compost yard is open only Monday evenings and part of Saturdays,) So tomorrrow, I'll be changing the thermostat and while I am at it, I will also change the radiator hoses. The hoses are at least 10 yrs old. There went my plans to do as little as possible. We will finish making plans to see our granddaughter on her birthday at the end of July. She is 800 miles away and we will be driving the distance. We will include side trips to sight see and I might stop in Northern Indiana to say hello to my cousin I discovered while researching the family tree. We'll finalize plans for a second trip in September when I will attend my 60th high school class reunion. It was thought that after the last reunion, there would be no more, but a few classmates who still live in the area managed to arrange for yet one more reunion. Its a little sad because half of us have passed away.
