Salon Spray Tan ???

angela_nor_calif

I am really considering going and getting a spray on tan at the tanning salon. They are running a special right now and it is very tempting. I've always wanted to do it. I'm really fair skinned and I would just like some color. Has anyone done it/know somebody that did? How did it turn out? I'm a little scared to do it.

My DIL works in a spa and they are just starting to do these. She has been their tester for the last few tans. The first one was very orange looking.....the second one was much better but still orange around the toes and heels and elbows. This was a professional lady doing it to show them how to do it. Be careful....and they only last for 14 days she says. Alot of $$ to keep it going. She said they charge about 95.00 there at her place.

Wow $95 that's a lot. This is $24.99 per time and they have a special going buy 2 get one free. They don't do your feet either. They have some kind of lotion for your feet or something else to put over them. When I use self tanner I don't do my feet either. It's too hard to get them even. Geez I hope I don't turn out orange. She assured me that the people that have done it, do not turn orange. This salon has been doing this for quite a while and has a good reputation but I'm still scared. DH said I should just go for it. So maybe tomorrow I will. I'll let you know how it turns out!

I consider myself an expert when it comes to self tanning and I have tried them all! The best self tanner on the market is called Tan Secret. The color is totally natural and you get instant coverage. It is a gel and dries fast and delivers incredible results! The towels are a waste of time...takes 4 towels to do my body, left me streaked and didn't give me instant results. I will only use Tan Secret. You can only get it on Toni's website www.tonibrattin.com She has a new tanning boost that I just ordered off ShopNBC called Tan Fabulous. I will let you know what I think when it arrives!

Mom puts 5-year old in tanning booth

Sadly I saw the tanned woman getting into her car after some sort of processing for whatever she was charged with. She was screaming into the mic of the reporter trying to get her to talk. Walking right into into the you know what. She said people are just jealous that she's so pretty and that they are so fat and ugly. My God, has she lost her mind? Her face is actually scary. When I saw her mug shot, I thought she had no teeth, I think what I was seeing were her lips? That said, my motto in my own life is that most things are okay in moderation. Yes, the tan mom of the moment has taken tanning to an entirely ridiculous level. However, there is something to be said about the current status of the cable news cycles. Really, this is what the news is covering when there are so many other real pressing matters? Makes me shake my head. And yes, I did my share of tanning that most my age did when we were teens - outside on the beach, not in a tanning bed. Fast forward, while I use the appropriate sunscreen per the derm, I enjoy a bit of time in the sun and being in the sun is good for you up to a point. I believe it is 10 minutes a day outside is the recommendation for those low on vitamin D. I don't enjoy laying in the sun for hours like I did as a teen in an effort to achieve a tan. Fast forward to the present day, when working in the garden or out by the pool, I usually do get a bit of color. Laying on a raft with w book in the pool is one of my favorite stress releasors during the summer. While the tan mom has a real problem with the amount of tanning she is doing, I don't know if I like how much attention any of the news outlets are giving it.

Taking tanning a way bit too far

The media really can lead people around by the nose, can't they? Sounds pretty exaggerated to me. Nothing adds up using anything near common sense. That kid wasn't "cooked" as some want to imply. Good grief. Because the mother looks like Walmart leather goods, people assume the kid was burned beyond recognition? That kid would burn after a couple minutes in the sun. And she wasn't in any endangerment from what they showed of her. If she was in a tanning bed for the time crispy momma goes, she'd be char-broiled. Nothing adds up using anywhere near common sense. Where's the interview with a doctor who treated the "severe" burns? Boy, have I got a bridge or two to sell some people... Nope, I don't buy this hysteria, especially with this little evidence. If the old lady wants to cremate herself that's her business, not unlike the nutcases with botox or plastic surgery. If facts can show that she creamated the kid, there's no penalty severe enough, but so far there hasn't even been a shred of credible evidence presented to warrant even discussing this hyperbole. I'm really tired of media blowing things out of proportion to get ratings and people blindly accepting it because it was in an email, or on the internet or saw it on TV. And the stupid commentary by those dumb anchors prove they're only there because of their looks - certainly not from their "intelligence", which apparently was an optional extra which they chose to forgo. This one is laughable.

As a teenager I laid outside and tanned for many a day. Used tanning booths for several years and then bought my own bed. About 6 years ago I had my first bout of skin cancer (basal cell) on my nose. Had to have the cancer taken out and then plastic surgery done. Bingo! About four years later I had it again in exactly the same place. More extensive surgery this time and more plastic surgery. After seeing visions of Michael Jackson's nose in my head - I no longer tan. And DARN! I miss being tanned. It IS addictive and everybody knows that a fat pork chop looks better when it's FRIED! LOL

I got one in CA about 3 years ago. I was happy with it but surprised that some color rubbed off on my clothing. It washed out so it wasn't a problem.

There was someone on Rachel Ray this week talking about them, and it wasn't good.Rachel said she uses the Jergens also and said it works well. The other lady said the salon ones are almost always orangy and uneven and do rub off.She second'd the Jergens,Cheaper too.

Well I did it. Didn't take before pics sorry. I can already see it starting to form. The girl asid it takes about 4 hours. I did the lightest shade because I am so fair and I told her I didn't want to look like Malibu Barbie. lol I need to do something else about my feet next time. I can see my toes are going to be an issue but otherwise so far so good. It's been about two hours and I'm not orange at all. If anyone is interested in watching a short video it's called Mystic tan and there's a video on the web that shows you the procedure.

Angela, keep us posted if it turns orange later. I've seen the advertisements for Mystic Tan and was thinking of trying it myself.

I am having good luck with Jergens, on my legs only. It doesn't turn orange, and seems to match the natural tan I get on my arms from working in the garden. Even the feet seem to be okay. MUCH cheaper than the salon tan, and I can control it.

Anyone remember Coppertone's QT? That worked really well, especially if diluted by half with water.
