Trip photos, pt 1 (Amsterdam & area)

The view outside our hotel room in Amsterdam

Some modern buildings in Amsterdam

DH and I had a delicious lunch in the lovely enclosed courtyard of the Amsterdam Museum

I've just left the Rijksmuseum after a wonderful visit. Then DH and I enjoyed a delicious Apple Taart at a small cafe just a short distance away.

A houseboat on an Amsterdam canal

Another modern building

I believe the structure on the left is the Royal Palace.

There are an enormous number of cyclists in Amsterdam, with many dedicated bike paths. The three-tiered structure in this photo is a parking garage for bicycles (they cannot be seen well in the photo). There are thousands of bicycles parked here.

We went on a canal cruise

The architecture was influenced by contacts from trading and fishing

Lots of shopping in Amsterdam.

A view of the Zuiderzee from the fishing village of Volendam in Holland

A cheese farm outside of Amsterdam

On the tour bus. Bicycles are used by almost everyone, young and old.

A windmill that we toured.

The inner workings of the windmill. These old windmills are mostly obsolete now.

Architecture in Holland's countryside

An idyllic scene
