I met Donna OH! Pictures included...

Sorry this took so long to post.... my computer was acting up...

I met crazy Donna! And her sweet sister Annie! LOL Donna and Annie met me at the airport. It was WAY past MY bedtime, but Donna assured me that it wasnÂt too late for her. Of course, she hid from me! That wasnÂt very nice! They drove me to the hotel, but they didnÂt just drop me off, they checked me in, checked out my room and made sure I was going to be okay! Lol AND she gave me a BIG welcome basket filled with fruit, crackers, and TONS of candy! Also a bunch of bottled water! She and Annie were very sweet. I wasnÂt nervous meeting a KTÂerÂ. But Donna DID make me nervous as we were driving down the freeway in the middle of the night and she was explaining that she canÂt really "see" and she brought Annie along to read the street signs and see the lines in the streetÂ Ah, Donna, I saidÂ "IÂd be HAPPY to drive!" lol

They also went to the games! Usually the only people that go to baseball games anymore are parents and girlfriends of the players! She and Annie sat through a double header, and then Donna came back for more on Sunday! And had to listen to a whiney mom! Lol What a trooper! Donna bought my lunch at Subway too! what a doll! She brought Ohio made suckers for the players, and soon the whole dugout was walking around with the white sticks hanging out of their mouth! They really enjoyed them!

Tami OH was in town for a rubber stamp show, and she spent the whole day buying stamps! She called and I spoke with her on the phone! She is very nice and funny. She made me promise not to tell her hubby that she spent his IRA on stamping products that day!

Donna spent a lot of time getting ready for my arrival. She made practice runs to the airport, the hotel, and the baseball field. Gave me directions and maps, of course I forgot the directions to the field, obviously had the wrong address as my GPS took me to a scary part of the town. But thanks for cell phones; Donna was able to guide me to the Thurman Munson field. I really appreciate all of the help and Annie was so sweet! OH, yea, so was Crazy Donna!

Thank you so much Donna! It was fun to meet you. She is a real ball of fire!

LOL I love this story...I would love to meet all 3 of you!! It is sooo great what all she did for you!! LOL at her not being able to see at night to drive...trust me if your son ever plays here in OK you won't want me driving daylight or dark....LOL I have met Tami from OHio and she is totally awesome as is also Tammy from Ohio...LOL Love the pic of you....Stacy

I met Annie, when I visited Donna many years ago.
That's Donna, she leaves no rock unturned as far as being a great hostess, no matter where she is.

Hi eahamel and thanks so much for your input! I actually have 21 citrus trees now (including grapefruits, satsumas, tangelos, clementines, oranges, tamgerines, a pummelo and a kumquat--plus my new Calamondins and Meyer Lemon), some of which I've had for several years now. But this is the first time I ever bought anything that's not grafted and it seems that I've heard that the soil requirements are different--that a tree on its own roots prefers less acidic soil. And the reason I wondered if they're hardier in some way was an article I read somewhere in which people were discussing how their non grafted trees faired better in frosty temps. But I think your reminder about size is something to definitely keep in mind since I don't have a bit of experience with that. With that in mind, seedlings probably do better in containers than in the ground too, but I'll be planting mine. I also bought a seedling Meyer Lemon and did get the grafted Calamondin today and it should produce quite well since it's a much older tree. So is your limequat more sour than the Calamondin? Perhaps you can replace it with a Meiwa Kumquat, which are quite sweet when you let them stay on the tree long enough. In fact, I've eaten enough of my Calamondins now to realize how much of a difference that makes with them too! The riper they get, the less sour they get, and I do like the really ripe ones. But as you said, in addition to actually liking them, I do like that they bear fruit and bloom year round, which they might not do as much in my area as they do in yours. They might do more like your kumquats and bear twice a year, but I love the fragrance of citrus blossoms so any additional opportunities to smell them is good as far as I'm concerned, which is why I'm choosing my new ones this year! I'm sure your tree is beautiful, but since I can't see, I can't see the picture. I know I'd really love seeing all the pics everyone shares--it really would be quite inspiring! Again, thanks for sharing your experience and for reminding me that my seedlings are likely to get bigger than all of my grafted trees. BB in FL

Kat, I'm closer to Cleveland airport than Donna is. DH works right around the corner! It's not bad. In fact, I was there last week. Akron/Canton might be closer for airports. They do alot of advertising here for that one being less crowded, but I've never been there. I don't fly, either! Without exact addresses for the airports, Cleveand to Massilon is approx 1 hour driving 54.5 miles. Akron/Canton to Massilon is approx 32.8 miles 39 minutes, but I don't know where the airport is in relation to Massilon. Donna will know better. Go to hotels dot com for a selection of places to stay in the area. There were quite a few when I pulled it up. Didn't know your dates, so didn't try to find any available rooms. If we are home when you come I would love to drive down to see you! There are plenty of places to stay in Cleveland, also. Amish Door is a great place to eat! I see they have an Inn also. Tami

tmgallagher, Diamond-brite is a good hard surface. Salt is generally not added until a couple weeks after the plaster finish. You probably won't have a problem with the salt. Diamond-brite tends to be streaky looking after the pool's full. A no-drain acid wash usually solves this problem. Your builder should label all of the plumbing and provide you with the instruction necessary to operate the equipment. I usually provide instruction to my customers 5-6 days after the start-up. This gives me time to balance the chemicals and take care of the details that might have been missed during construction. Good luck.

Aw Kat, that's so cool. That Donna is one special lady and how sweet of Annie too. What special people. And you, you little rascal, lol, I can't believe after all these years you are still in hiding. Smiles. You need a new witness protection program. So glad you had such a good time and thanks for the pics. Even the half a pic. lol.

What I'm really wondering is:
Does Annie know she is being used as a body-guard everytime Donna meets one of those scarry KTers? LOL

Kat you look too young to have a college age son -- and nobody paid me to say that!

Thanks for posting these pics. I live in the same town and just blocks away from Donna, but we've never me. Now, I know I'll see her in our grocery store.

Hi! It's nice to see you guys again! Even if it's only partial pictures of Kat. I have met Donna and Annie, what great gals! No, I didn't spend DH's 401, but I sure spent plenty! At least I got to talk to Kat on the phone. I hope to meet her some day. You never know when DH & I will get the idea to head for WA!

Margaretoh, you've been holding out on us! I think it's going to be time for an OH get together soon. As soon as I can figure out when I'm going to be home, that is! Maybe we can get Mickey15 to go with us and all meet at the Barn in Wooster, like we did when we met Velleen and Vince. And anyone else in OH, or who can make it!

Has anyone came to the College World Series here in Omaha? LSU won last night. It was a good series. Texas lost early on and fought back to play the last game last night. I was pulling for Texas. LSU has had it a lot of times.

Geeez Kat, I wasn't all that nice!! LOL Wish I could've done more for you!

As I said before, I enjoyed the games & sure was great to spend time with our mysterious Kat lady! I'm selling full face pics & autographs for $1,000 each!

Annie did a great job on our pic, only I think she got too much of our faces! LOL
