Comments (7)I WS'd them in '07, had four sprouts, planted them out that spring, and as others mentioned they didn't seem to do much that first year. 2nd year, I decided I didn't have them in the right spot, so I dug them up and moved them ... twice. As a result, I lost two of them. The two remaining ones finally put on some growth this past year, and I got one bloom stalk. I'm giving them one more year to prove themselves. Where I used to live (other side of the state) there was a house that had them planted in a strip between the sidewalk and their backyard fence, mulched in river rock. Very hot and dry location, and they were HUGE, and gorgeous when in bloom. I think it may be a matter of finding the right spot for them, where they can really shine. Comments (5)Wekick, Thank you for your response. I certainly will await your additional thoughts and observations, especially considering the Dacor oven concerns which have cropped up here at GardenWeb. I greatly appreciate your feedback, but hope that you are not thinking of appliances too much during your holiday. If I may recap your comments to this point: it seems that you are quite satisfied with the rangetop but have concerns about the ranges oven. I have been regularly following the other Dacor oven posts, which has led to my current hesitation regarding the Epicure ranges and their ovens in particular. The meat probe issue seems annoyingly absurd given that this is a relatively established feature for higher end ovens (one whimper of a sound does not qualify as an alert). The preheating issue, for me, resurrects the entire dual-fuel vs. all-gas range debate. If an electric oven cant out-perform or at least match its gas equivalent in most basic parameters (broiling not included), then why would one buy a dual-fuel range. The broiling issue, especially if it is also the case for the ranges, would rise to the level of making the appliance a lemon in my perception. "I cant get an infrared broiler in my new duel-fuel range, but as a consolation I can sure melt my electronics fast!" Our family does a lot of baking, and this has perhaps led me to fall to deeply for the European convection oven hype. The Epicure range line seemed to be one of the few solutions that provided both reasonably high performance burners with a reasonably full-featured European convection oven. Perhaps I should just stay with the tried and true all gas range (its to bad that my family thinks the BlueStar is so homely looking). In the ideal world, excluding price considerations, one would pair a 30 inch BlueStar rangetop with a 27 inch Gaggenau oven to build their own range (any stainless steel fabricators desire to lend a hand?). Comments (18)gglks - you and anyone else should feel free to share any pictures I've posted on GW. I'm happy to help and am surprised and a bit dismayed to see that doing a search for "smarge" only yields a few posts! I had posted thinking I was helping all future renovators looking for ideas since GW helped me so tremendously. If it is helpful I'll post a few more pictures of my kitchen. One day I'll set aside some time to get my kitchen in the finished kitchens area. Here is a long view of the exterior wall of my kitchen, showing the vaulted ceiling. Here is a pic of my other backsplash, located above a sink on in interior wall that needed something nice to look at. This wall is perpendicular to the stove wall with the tree of life mosaic. (its an old pic, taken before the UC lights were installed, which is why you see the wires.) Here is a closeup of my perimeter countertop, which is Caesarstone "Raven" in polished finish. I adore it and get compliments on how natural it looks for a quartz composite counter. These are old pics and I'll try to start my own thread showing the whole, finished kitchen one day when I have an extra hour. Feel free to ask any questions and good luck with all you out there in the planning stages!...See MoreYIKES, it is time to set that clock to daylight savings time again!
