What a lazy day!

I woke up this morning with a plan. So much for plans. Today there was supposed to be a Carifest parade and festival downtown. Who knows if it happened. It was only about 12C by 11 in the morning. Cold and drizzling rain. (Carifest is a Carribean festival). We scrapped that idea and went to a car show instead. Well, that was a dud. It started at 10 and when we got there, there were only maybe 25 cars. The lot holds about 500 cars.

So we went to two new markets that opened up in the past few months. I love markets full of small vendors selling all sorts of stuff. Didn't find a thing I needed. Or wanted. In either market. So we went to the mall. I spent $8.50 on a photography magazine. I usually stop at Starbucks in Chapters but the line up was too long.

Then on the way home we stopped at the Dutch store, where I picked up a few odds and ends you can't buy in the grocery store.

Since coming home, all I've done is web surf! Comparison shopped books (Kindle vs Kobo). Still very happy with the Kindle, Kobo books are more expensive, but Kobo had one that Kindle didn't. And that one was free. Can't beat free.

It's almost supper time. I think I'll just pick up chicken. My favourite chicken take out opened a second location a few blocks away. Now we don't have to drive all the way across the city for it. Nice!!!

I may still put a loaf of bread in my bread machine, but just go as far as the dough cycle then make cinnamon rolls out of it tonight. We'll see if I feel like it. There's always tomorrow.

This sounds like a diary.

What did you all do today? It's still ugly outside. Yesterday was hot. It's supposed to be tomorrow. I hope so.

I'm sorry your plans didn't work out. You sure gave it a good shot with the shopping, though. Carifest sounds like a fun time. Maybe they had to postpone it until next weekend, you think?

I haven't done much of anything today either, except instead of rain, we have heat--and plenty of it. Most of our festivals are in the spring and fall when there's less chance of half the crowd having a heat stroke! LOL!

I did make a half-way healthy potato salad to go with the ribs I fixed for dinner. The ribs were falling off the bone tender and Harry approved the potato salad. Lucky for me there's enough left over for dinner tomorrow night.

I've just been playing on the computer and didn't accomplish one single thing. Ahh, somehow that feels good!

I was pretty much a slug all day.....cleaned the range hood this morning, which was a big job as it hadn't been done in ages. My plan was to work outside as the weather was nice. Outdoor faucet is on the fritz and leaks hugely, so that took care of anything more than what was truly needing water. Just got in a mood and didn't do much of anything else all day. DD and hubby stopped in for a while, but other than that, as I say, I've been a slug.

(((((Eden)))))! I'm so sorry about the damage and you feeling so upset/scared. It's times like this that I wish I lived a skip away from you. I am SO thankful that no one was hurt. A crushed urn and smashed plants(gee and a humongous tree laying over your garden)still are extemely upsetting and I always did admire the sun & moon not to mention your shed(maybe Brad can repair the shed?)! I know you'll find a way to salvage what you can and recreate what you've got~sniff~Earlier today I was viewing garden pics you'd posted and I was ooing and aahing at the results of your hard work. I hope the cleanup shows more things intact than thought. I hope you can get good sleep tonight. In regards to how I had time to post when the kids were little it was pretty easy because I would post at naptime~AJ napped all the way up to age 4 or at least had quiet book reading time. Both boys were very good at independant play so I could take a few moments to post during the day. I also would post at night because Chris was often doing school work. These days we are more on the go in general plus when I'm working the idylls went to the back burner-unfortunately. Poor Chelone-and Rex! I hope your boss is understanding and things go well. ; )I will drink some wine for you-it's the least I can do... I missed an earlier chance to wish you & your helpmeet a happy anniversary~Hope it was fun...did you conserve water like a good girl? lol just kidding. Saucy-I saw the pic of you skiing-you go! If that were me you'd see a pic of the skis over my head and my face would be flopping through the water at high speed: ) I enjoyed seeing the pics of your earlier garden & the present one-I gasped at that later pic-It's beautiful! I also enjoyed seeing your kids-they grew so much! Thanks for showing those pics. I'm really glad you're sticking around here! Gee, Sandy, I have problems with memory even without anesthesia! Although... I did have my UPPP fix in April... Our summer this year, well, - first, all the weeding and mulching that didn't get done last year when we were renovating DD's house, and I had a very late start due to the rainy weather. - All the waterlilies need repotting, we've only done three so far (ended up with five). Ten or eleven to go. - And we're looking to buy a lot to build a small home on to retire to. Our five-bedroom house was perfect for us and the four kids, but it's too big for us now, and the knees are getting older, so we want to have a one-floor home. If we find the perfect spot, it will have waterfront on a small natural pond, or access to, or at least the view... and/or room for us to put in our man-made ponds and create a new little paradise, like we have now (or better). Surprisingly, there is actually one such piece of heaven for sale, 6 acres, mostly flat hay meadow, with a piece of Shoreland Protection Act between it and the 20 acre pond behind it... only two other houses on the pond... It's a bit further away than I would like, but otherwise it's perfect. We're going to have a second look next weekend. - Cleaning out half of the contents of the house. Bringing it to the dump, the recycling center, or Goodwill, putting it on Craig's list, at the side of the road on Saturdays... - DD and fam from California are coming over for three weeks in August. By which time we should have enough space cleared! They'll switch between us and the other side of the family, and have rented a little place for one week at the ocean. It promises to be lots of fun and busy in spurts. - And all this between family stuff. My dad is doing very poorly. He's 89 and at the end of his life. My sister and I are good with this, but my brother is either in denial or angry. So all the gardening, cleaning and looking for real estate is a welcome escape! :) Mary

Linda, your package went out today. Melissa your package was recieved today. Thank you so much for the nice asst. of charms. Some of the seed has been planted all ready. I was waiting for the Broccoli for my fall garden and some flower seed. The gaillardia I winter sowed several years ago have made a big impression this year. Thanks to you all. This has been fun. would loved to change places with you! started with a fast drive-thru breakfast and a 10:30 soccer game...back to ds1 house, fed the visiting grands lunch, and yet another soccer game almost an hour from the house...back to the house, refed kids, and i'm staying at the house while 15 members of family and friends are celebrating ds2 and dd2 (my twins) 35th bday at the tigers baseball game...it's so nice for some quiet...

I didn't get much done today either, but I didn't really plan to. :)

I cleaned house a little bit, did laundry, fixed up the flower pots on the deck, checked out Facebook and gave the cat a little bath. That's about it.

Susan, I'm ready for a nap after reading your reply. LOL I just ordered pizza. Neither of us even wanted to get off the couch to drive over to grab some donairs and fries. So I ordered pizza online..... I wonder if we'll get up to answer the door. LOL

Tomorrow I'll catch up on laundry and clean my bedroom. I'm craving butter tart muffins again, so I'm going to bake a batch. I might even do that tonight to have for breakfast tomorrow.

Went over to local cafe for breakfast, then friends deceided they wanted to go to casino and see the new oil wells, roads, flooded conditions--so we went. Had a great time, and saw all the stuff, then came back and supper at a local cafe in Minot--great home cook stuff.

What a lazy day!
