What a lazy day!

I woke up this morning with a plan. So much for plans. Today there was supposed to be a Carifest parade and festival downtown. Who knows if it happened. It was only about 12C by 11 in the morning. Cold and drizzling rain. (Carifest is a Carribean festival). We scrapped that idea and went to a car show instead. Well, that was a dud. It started at 10 and when we got there, there were only maybe 25 cars. The lot holds about 500 cars.

So we went to two new markets that opened up in the past few months. I love markets full of small vendors selling all sorts of stuff. Didn't find a thing I needed. Or wanted. In either market. So we went to the mall. I spent $8.50 on a photography magazine. I usually stop at Starbucks in Chapters but the line up was too long.

Then on the way home we stopped at the Dutch store, where I picked up a few odds and ends you can't buy in the grocery store.

Since coming home, all I've done is web surf! Comparison shopped books (Kindle vs Kobo). Still very happy with the Kindle, Kobo books are more expensive, but Kobo had one that Kindle didn't. And that one was free. Can't beat free.

It's almost supper time. I think I'll just pick up chicken. My favourite chicken take out opened a second location a few blocks away. Now we don't have to drive all the way across the city for it. Nice!!!

I may still put a loaf of bread in my bread machine, but just go as far as the dough cycle then make cinnamon rolls out of it tonight. We'll see if I feel like it. There's always tomorrow.

This sounds like a diary.

What did you all do today? It's still ugly outside. Yesterday was hot. It's supposed to be tomorrow. I hope so.

I'm sorry your plans didn't work out. You sure gave it a good shot with the shopping, though. Carifest sounds like a fun time. Maybe they had to postpone it until next weekend, you think?

I haven't done much of anything today either, except instead of rain, we have heat--and plenty of it. Most of our festivals are in the spring and fall when there's less chance of half the crowd having a heat stroke! LOL!

I did make a half-way healthy potato salad to go with the ribs I fixed for dinner. The ribs were falling off the bone tender and Harry approved the potato salad. Lucky for me there's enough left over for dinner tomorrow night.

I've just been playing on the computer and didn't accomplish one single thing. Ahh, somehow that feels good!

I was pretty much a slug all day.....cleaned the range hood this morning, which was a big job as it hadn't been done in ages. My plan was to work outside as the weather was nice. Outdoor faucet is on the fritz and leaks hugely, so that took care of anything more than what was truly needing water. Just got in a mood and didn't do much of anything else all day. DD and hubby stopped in for a while, but other than that, as I say, I've been a slug.

Michelle...this is a gorgeous group of photos! The Princess is looking very pretty. She is so cute! I agree that she seems to be taking to all things garden very well. Not all kids do, you know. I love your garden combinations. The first photo with Larkspur and Echinacea plus isn't that a Scabiosa mixed in? Very pretty combo. Large Scabiosa, do they winter over for you? Great shot of the sky. I do love cloud photos. The only thing better would be a tour in person. You have a lovely garden. :-) pm2

Susie I concur with some of the others, got to the doctor ASAP. Both my folks had terrible bouts with shingles in areas you describe. Mom said it felt like something was rubbing aginst her skin irritating it. Better safe than sorry. As for bamboo, I am just not crazy about it, but if you like the look, be sure and go for the clumping kind. The spreading kind is a beast, I don't care what anyone says about "controlling" it! I teach about controlling it and I don't think you want to spend your free time in the yard fussing with your bamboo, do you? Maybe you just love it and don't mind, but otherwise I would think twice about it, it's not carefree. I planted a wild rose bush against my fence. It grew fantastically, and soon I was NOT very popular with my neighbors as my wild rose runners invaded her garden. And it was constant maintenance to keep them out of my own beds in areas I didn't want rose bush. The suckers seemed to invade almost overnight. A week or two off and I had to go to war to re-establish my borders. To me, it's just not worth it. There are lots of options for a living fence. That said, I don't know anything about the clumping kind. I'd try and check some out at Morris Arboretum or Longwood Gardens or some such place. Here' an article on the bamboos from that "You Bet Your Garden" guy from Philly. Sounds like they might have some at Fairmount Park although I have no idea where. Superb Lois, it's just spectacular, as I suspected abt the black sashing. Your decision that there was enough in the blocks to not use a corner square in your sashing was exactly right. In contrast to this work of mine around 20 blocks that I found. The blocks were sedate enough that they needed the punch of brightly colored corner blocks to both unite the blocks & make them pop. Great job Lois!!!

would loved to change places with you! started with a fast drive-thru breakfast and a 10:30 soccer game...back to ds1 house, fed the visiting grands lunch, and yet another soccer game almost an hour from the house...back to the house, refed kids, and i'm staying at the house while 15 members of family and friends are celebrating ds2 and dd2 (my twins) 35th bday at the tigers baseball game...it's so nice for some quiet...

I didn't get much done today either, but I didn't really plan to. :)

I cleaned house a little bit, did laundry, fixed up the flower pots on the deck, checked out Facebook and gave the cat a little bath. That's about it.

Susan, I'm ready for a nap after reading your reply. LOL I just ordered pizza. Neither of us even wanted to get off the couch to drive over to grab some donairs and fries. So I ordered pizza online..... I wonder if we'll get up to answer the door. LOL

Tomorrow I'll catch up on laundry and clean my bedroom. I'm craving butter tart muffins again, so I'm going to bake a batch. I might even do that tonight to have for breakfast tomorrow.

Went over to local cafe for breakfast, then friends deceided they wanted to go to casino and see the new oil wells, roads, flooded conditions--so we went. Had a great time, and saw all the stuff, then came back and supper at a local cafe in Minot--great home cook stuff.

What a lazy day!
