You need to reapply it often. Don't count on it to stand up to sweating and swimming.
I don't use sunscreen, but I'd guess a couple hours and you'd need to reapply.
Its made to keep you out longer without burning but still need to keep putting it on.
I'm not sure if sunblock would help more or not.

I burn also but my problem is I get just to dark not a pretty color (to me) My friend in Germany brings me sunblock from there and it has ingredients that the US doesn't allow.....heard about in on GMA.....nothing harmful but US won't approve it...I get so dark (like I like) and then I use what i get from here and don't burn don't get any darker.......can't remember what is in it...but know it works...she says it's because the US doc's won't be able to cure skin cancer if they allow it....don't know if it is true just know it keeps me from getting to the to dark stage...Stacy

DUH! I forgot about UVA rays and sunscreen...check and see if it provides protection against both UVA and UVB rays.

Wear long sleeves and a hat with a W I D E brim. Is way better than chemicals anyway.

It does protect against UVA and UVB rays. The day I was at the pool with the kids, I made us each reapply a couple of time during the day even though it said it was water proof, both of my sisters kids are very fair haired and burn easy. Neither one of them got any kind of burn, me however was totally burned.

Yesterday I reapplied several time and even though forgot to cover my feet, my arms are really burned but my feel have a soft little tan. I think from now on I am just going to skip the sunscreen!

I don't know what to tell you...unless it was old, sunscreen should work if applied correctly and is reapplied as needed. I am very fair and fry in about 10 minutes. I wear 30 on my face every work day, even days like today that are totally overcast and rainy (I work in an office). If I will be outside I wear an 85 on my face, neck and chest and a slightly lower number on my arms and legs. My goal is NO COLOR. Some people say the higher number doesn't matter, but my nose burns badly with anything below a 70.

You need to reapply even if it says waterproof. They usually aren't "rub proof" (drying off). I've tried the European sunscreens, IME they aren't any better than the high number U.S. ones.

i was shocked to recently find out how much sunscreen you are supossed to apply each and everytime (something like after 3 hrs)...1 oz. which the news story showed in a shot glass. that means a 6oz bottle/tube has 6 applications for about 18 hrs total in the sun. that is ALOT of goop to slather on lol. i have a similiar problem w/ sunscreen w/ sweating but seeing how much is an application made me realize i do not use enough. i hate feeling tacky, goopy or greasy so now i dress appropriately lol.

i used to work outside here in orlando and i've just come around in my thinking to wearing long sleeves, big, big fashionable hats, big fashionable sunglasses and longer shorts or capri's. i finally decided i spend a fortune on skin care products to keep my 20 something looks (im 42 lol) i might as well stop fighting against them by being unprotected in the sun. living in central FL keeps you surrounded by lots and lots of people w/ burn spots from their dermatologists. i do not want to join them :-( ~ liz

The Walgreens spray 70 spf sunscreen got the best reviews in the last Consumer Reports... so I bought some of that before my trip to Branson last week. I sprayed myself and didn't get burned anywhere except for a bit on my back shoulders (where I probably didn't spray). I sprayed DH's arms and legs, but not his torso (he said he wanted some sun)... well he got totally burned (beet red) on his chest and stomach, but his arms and legs were fine. Obviously the sunscreen worked for us.

You all know, I spent a lot of time on my bicycle, and I also spent a lot of time in my yard. I don't go out without sunscreen.

I use Aveeno 70 on my face, and some baby stuff 50 on the rest of my body.

When I am out on a multi day bike ride, I put on sleeveless one day, short sleeve day two, and long sleeve day three. I really don't want to get any skin cancer.

But even with all that, I get a heck of a tan.
