Cat food thieves in action (2 pics)

They come every day--these are titmice, but I've seen cardinals, bluejays, and others. They start out on the apple tree branch, checking that all is clear. Then they hop to the porch railing. From there it's a jump down to the porch floor and the cat dish. On each pass the bird takes a piece of dry cat food and flies off.

If Bonzy (the cat) happens to be lying down in front of the dish or otherwise interfering with their plan, they scold her.

In the second picture they're using a lookout. ;-)
