Starting tonight.......Chicago and Boston.......Who do you think will skate away with the cup????

Since my Penguins aren't in it, I'm hoping for Chicago to take it all.......But, we'll see!

This year's match up is EXCELLENT! Two teams who haven't faced off in the finals since 1979.

Ooohh, you got onto the Constitution!! The line was tooo long when I was there - I was with non-boat lovers who wouldn't have waited in line for the 2nd coming - sigh. She was lovely from the outside, just imagining the age. And TM, it's Bristol Fashion - or Bristol Shape, not to get all semantic on you!!! lol!! We also stood in line to see 'Cheers' - they decided it was boring, and bailed back up the stairs - I never did see it!! It was the Stanley Cup finals, so saw the revered silver-ware in the apse off of the lobby of the Intercontinental. Wow. It was the year of the fog cup. The Celts won whatever it is the Celts compete for ......People who had dyed their skin green were hanging out of great stretch limos, screaming. Some of the limos had hot tubs on their back decks!!!!! This girl had never seen this stuff before!!! We walked the freedom trail; saw Trinity Church - I know I should remember the significance, but can't!!! Boston was the first subway I was ever on, and didn't realized the connection to the song till later.....omg - it is OLD!!!!I was in the lead car, at the front - omg - so scary when we came to the splits.!!! But did he ever return, no he never returned, and his fate is still unknown....he will ride forever neath the streets of Boston, he's the man who never returned!!! Nancy.

To me, BBQ (the verb) is the act of cooking chicken, pork, or beef products outdoors where these meats are then "flavored" with smoke that is generated during the cooking process from the meat juices and/or burning wood. "Pit" BBQ refers specifically to the technique and product that is produced by cooking at a low temperature (usually Because the chemistry involved in both of these BBQ'ing operations is so different......the prodcuts that are produced will taste completely different. To my taste....."low and slow" is to die for good when it is done properly. That is because of the absolute majic that occurs during the breakdown of the collagen and fats contained in the meat....especially beef and pork. On the other hand, "hot and fast" grilling BBQ develops its flavors primarily from certain "caramelization ractions" that can ONLY OCCUR at a higher cooking temperatures. Sauces are usually added as an additonal flavor enhancement component to the BBQ'ed products. BBQ sauce is only a seasoning (like salt and pepper) and is absolutely not necessary to produce excellent tasting BBQ. In fact, to many people (me included) it is a SIN to cover up the great flavor of a brisket or pork ribs that are cooked "low and slow" to perfection. Most sauces will acutally hide that wonderful flavor that took hours to produce. it is like putting ketchup on an excellent piece of prime rib..........rather silly to do so IMO. Now BBQ sauce makes lots of sense to me when grilling. The higher cooking temperature can turn the sweetners in BBQ sauces into a wonderful sticky gooey lip smacking mess. "low and slow" cooked BBQ cannot duplicate this texture and flavor component because of the low temperature involved. FYI....... Yesterday I cooked four slabs of pork ribs in my electric smoker (Smokin Tex brand) at 225 degrees F for 4 hours. This type smoker does not use a water pan and will produce true pit-style BBQ. I used one piece of "apple wood" that was the size of a chicken egg to ligthly flavor the meat. The ribs were seasoned with Tony's Mo Spice Cajun Seasoning mix "just before" they were put into the smoker. After 4 hours (no turning or attendance needed) these ribs were absolutely beautiful and ready to eat. However, we wanted "sticky and messy" ribs and for that you need grilling temperatures and a sweet BBQ sauce. Sooooo........I got me some Kraft Honey (not honey mustard) BBQ sauce from out of the pantry. I added some KC Masterpiece original sauce to it........and then I added the TOP SECRET ingredient that makes ANY BBQ sauce MUCH MO BETTA!!! I'm talkin' bout Jalepeno Pepper Jelly. That is what will make any grilled BBQ become so sticky and goey that you will need to pass out rolls of paper towels. People.....the combination of first cooking those ribs "low and slow" ligthly flavored with applewood smoke....followed by a quick "hot and fast" grilling produced a "sticky and goey" product that was to die for good. BBQ (noun) produced either "low and slow" or "hot and fast" or even cooked indoors coated or simmered in a sauce......it's all good and it's all BBQ. With the new type smokers and grills that are sold today, anyone can produce BBQ products that are much better than whan can be had at most BBQ restaurants. Try the combination BBQ (verb) technique I've just posted and see for yourself. Cookshack, Bradley, Masterbuilt, and Smokin Tex all make great electric smokers that will produce true pit-style BBQ (ie. controlled low temperature, and no water pan). And IMO, it is hard to beat both Weber gas and Weber charcoal grills. Dan Semper Fi-cus

The question it sounds like you're asking doesn't really work. It's like asking if King Arthur bread flour will work in the bread machine. The responses will all be questions about what kind of bread machine with which settings, and what recipe are you using. If you're using the machine as a mixer, yes, you can make bread with Cup 4 Cup, but kneading is unnecessary. Mix it and go right to the rising/proof cycle. Will it work in the particular recipe you have in mind? What's the recipe? As we've said above, you probably need to adjust it. Do a Google search and you'll find bloggers who've made gluten free bread successfully in their bread machines. You generally need a binder in gluten free baking. The difference between Cup 4 Cup and other gluten free flour blends is that it already contains the xanthan gum, which makes things stick together, so you don't have to do calculations and conversions when adding it to your cake recipe. There's more to it with yeast rising, however, and you'll likely need some modifications. The description of original (blue bag) Cup for Cup from their website: Cup4Cup’s Original Multi-Purpose Flour has the taste, texture and performance of regular flour and is useful in almost all baking and cooking recipes that do not require yeast. Substitute 1:1 for regular flour into your favorite recipes for homemade cookies, cakes and cupcakes, quick breads, pie crust, gravy and sauces, scones, muffins – even homemade pasta! Cup4Cup lets you concentrate on the fun of baking gluten-free without having to worry about altering other ingredients. Hawks! I have been rooting for both teams all season. Last nights game started out slow but then by the 3rd period I was screaming at the tv, LOL and then to go into the 3rd overtime!! Those guys must have been exhausted. My voice is hoarse today haha. I can't bring myself to boo the Bruins though.

I really like the fact it's two of the old original US teams, Boston and Chicago. No Canadian or expansion teams. (Yes I do realize many hockey players are Canadian citizens) I like the Bruins a little better.

DS figured out what icing zones etc were all about and tried to teach me couldn't keep eyes off the tv be sure to appreciate those announcers

FYI -Two of the original 6 teams were Canadian - Montreal (founded in 1909) and Toronto (founded in 1917), Boston was founded in 1924 and then Chicago was last of the original 6 founded in 1926. Toronto and Montreal were the original and only teams for the inaugural season of the NHL in 1917.

I'm rooting for Boston only because of Bobby Orr. And although he played a few games with Chicago he is synonymous, at least for me, with Boston.

17 of the players on the Blackhawks are Canadian, 13 on the Bruins team are Canadian. Coach of the Blackhawks is also Canadian. Both coaches also coached our Windsor Spitfires.

We were sad that our Kings didn't get in, but my dad is from the outskirts of Chicago so we will root for their team instead.

Boston ...they have shown us what determination really means. We wil not be dissappointed with this group of players. They exceeded our expectations......and I know they can win this series too. Go Bruins!!!

I worked for the owner of the (Mighty) Ducks of Anaheim who won the Stanley Cup in 2007. The Cup sat outside my office for the better part of a day and a professional photographer was brought in to take photos of all the employees with the cup. Later in the day it (and its chaperone) were moved outside where family members could have their photos taken with the cup.

Below is a photo of my son and daughter with the cup. They kept asking why they would want their picture taken with it. We kept saying "just trust us on this one." :-)

So, does the chaperone/bodyguard really wear white gloves when he is handling the Stanley Cup?

Do your kids appreciate the picture moment yet? My son would be so jealous if he saw that picture. We live in Vancouver Canucks territory and my son usually decorates his car during play-off time (a couple of years ago it was on the 6:00 news the decorating is so over the top)- this year he didn't even bother.

I have photos of the chaperon somewhere. Don't recall if he was wearing gloves and I actually talked to him for quite some time. Considering what has been done to, with and 'in' the "cup" while with each team member, I seriously doubt gloves would be warranted just to handle it. :-)

Yes, the kids now fully understand and appreciate their time with Lord Stanley's cup.

I have been in the presence of the Stanley Cup a few times. It is the most widely traveled trophy in the world and that cup sure has been used and abused when the players each have their turn with it hahaha When it comes to town people lineup to have their picture taken while they kiss it.

I love ice hockey and spent many years as a "hockey-mom" and as a "groupie", lol, for a local team when I lived in Michigan. Always a Blackhawk fan since we lived many years outside of Chicago.

I am so impressed by the number of women fans here!
