Mom's been sewing again...

Isn't this the cutest little outfit? I love it! It's hard to tell in pictures but Camryn has very blue eyes and I love how they look against pink.

Maddie had such beautiful blue eyes and I loved her in pink. Still do, though and now her eyes are a hazel. LOL
I swear Camryn gets prettier by the day! Or at least in very pic you post of her!

I know where your coming from. Friday dad was fighting mad and ready to bust out of the home. He told me to get him out NOW. He even yelled at two of the workers there. Dad is not going to be easy he'll fight it all the way and he'll even blame me for putting him in the home not his illness or problem with over medicated himself. It hurts really bad because you don't want them in there but you can't do thing's they need. Dad wouldn't be happy here with us and I sure wouldn't be happy with him here cause he's the type to get on my case for going outside and being to long coming back in. Oh yeah he's that bad. Friday when I got to the home I stopped off at the office and he came bursting into the office yelling ...What took you so long...reminded me of my childhood ...then he said I was scared you were kidnapped yeah right he was ready to let me have it about being in the home. I'm thinking I will not be able to see him for sometime and I'll have to hire someone to take him to his doctor appointments for I will not be able to handle him. He just might bolt on me and then were will I be. At least with hiring a BIG MAN to handle him he'll have to behave. Dad didn't call today, I'm sure he's now mad at me casue he asked who's keeping him there and I said it was me. What was I to tell him, I'm not equipped to handle this part of life, I feel as though I have know ideal of what I'm doing. Kim I couldn't find your first post. ARe there other issues that I am missing. Does your mother not show you or your son love? Unless I am missing something it doesn't seem like it is your mom's or your niece's fault on the day that she wants to have her Christmas. Like I said in a previous post, my mother gets my nephew every other Friday night and so when I plan my kids birthday party I always (so to include him) make sure to have them on a weekend that my mother will have him. It's not his fault that his mother is being this way and doesn't give him up any extra :( I am only saying this because you were upset that you had to halt the norm but it's not your niece or your mom's fault. I think I would be more upset if my mom had Christmas with my nephew and my kids on different days. My traditions of Christmas with my kids is on Christmas day but whenever anyone else chooses to give them a Christmas present I don't care if it is 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after. You said that if you have to ask her to show love then it is not worth it.. what does she do? It sounds like she spent a lot on you for Christmas by getting you something that you really wanted.. even though you told her that it was too expensive. Does she do other things that are making you feel this way? I think it would bother me more if my mom didn't care if she had all of her grandkids together... meaning if she cared more for your niece she could have just did Christmas Day with your son and not included him she could have had just her granddaughter on the 15th.. but she obviously wanted both of them together. Anyway.. let me know if I am missing something. The fact that your mom is keeping her all night and not your son would probably bother me but from the way that you talk your mom works full time and from what I can understand she doesn't get this little girl except during this time so she probably feels that she has to get her then if she wants a relationship with her whereas you are not holding him from her. Has she always kept her all night or has this just started?

Sue, Two months ago, I took up sewing. Like you, I had almost no experience but was very eager to make things for my house. I went to my local dealer (exclusively sewing machines, no vacuums) and ended up buying a Bernina 1008. I chose this machine because it's considered extremely reliable (Swiss made, metal body, mechanical not computerized, with a powerful motor that can handle several layers of thick home dec fabric and trim). In fact, it's the machine used in high school home ec classes and was given an excellent rating by Consumer Reports. The machine cost $700 and I received 15 hours of sewing classes which were very valuable, free of charge. I also took a special class on learning to sew Roman shades. I also went to my local public library and checked out a dozen books on home dec sewing. I think it's a good idea to check out several books because the authors show slightly different ways of doing similar things, and no one book is the best source for all projects. One book I particulary like is "Sewing for the Home." I'm also eager to get hold of "Teach Yourself Sewing Visually," which will be published next month and is aimed at the beginning home dec sewer. I've found the right tools and accessories can help me make fewer mistakes and get professional looking results. So far, I've spent several hundred dollars on specialized feet; rotary cutters, rulers, scissors and mats; notions; an acrylic "quilting table" that attaches to my machine and gives a large work surface level with my needle; and an adjustable plastic tool box to keep everything organized. In the past two months I've made throw pillows, seat cushions, slipcovers for an ottoman and parson's chair, and a roman shade. My first few projects looked awful, but my skills improved pretty quickly and my latest projects are almost professional looking (at least from a distance). I love my new hobby because it gives me absolute control over the decorating process. If I don't like the way something looks, I can take it apart, remake it with a different fabric or trim, size it up or down, or change it completely. I only wish I'd learned to sew years ago. Nancy

Your pictures remind me of sewing I once did to use up fabric I had accumulated. Every winter I made stacks of shorts and t-shirts in varying children's sizes. In the Spring I gave them to a nun who worked in a very poor section of Cincinnati. She would distribute them to families who needed them. In later years I made all sorts of pajamas for the St. Vincent hotel which took in homeless people, especially families . I double stitched everything as I knew they would be washed every day. Once in a while I used a pattern for a really pretty little girl's nightie and always hoped it gave a tot a happy night.

That's just the cutest,both outfit and baby.That's what i miss most about sewing ,all my kids and most of my grands are grown up.I have 3 little GGK'S from 1 1/2 to 4,but they don't live close.

Steph, both my girls have blue eyes, and while I dress them in a lot of pink, their eyes turn really blue when they wear blue!

Sweet Camryn! They do grow up fast! My Katie will be 14 months in 2 days!
