I won an award for my website (pic)

Joe and I went to City Hall today to recieve a tourism award from Hospitality Newfoundland & Labrador. We won the "Ambassador of Hospitality Award". From their website:

"This award recognizes individuals or groups who, through their careers, private lives or volunteer work, show dedication to the promotion and development of the tourism industry in Newfoundland and Labrador."

It was held in council chambers and the mayor was there as well as the provincial Minister of Tourism and actually a whole crowd of people. The city also gave out 5 tourism awards. Afterwards there were photos and refreshments served. We had a lot of people congratulating us and telling us they love our website.

We found out last week we won it but I really didn't realize it was going to be as big a deal as it was. I had to say a few words after I got the award, basically I just said thanks, I was a bit nervous up there in front of everyone.

Thanks, Holiday-ers! nana...I'm chuckling over "Harvey"...I remember it well from kids high school play... Elwood P. Dowd & his invisible rabbit! Looking forward to your creativity, OA! ...& frou, knowing your froufrou will be perfect for anything to do w/Scarlett...if it works out for you. After I re-read the book back in early 90's & was gifted the plates from Mom, I really enjoyed finding more memorablia of GWTW...watching the movie on VHS(then) & amazing technology for the time. (way before I was born, too, jane! LOL!) It's a lo-o-ng movie! 3 hrs+ So, the 83rd Academy Awards, is like a holiday!! Thanks for commentin'/joinin' in on the fun! Jeanne S.

Congratulations Karen! I love it when people promote Newfoundland and you do such a good job of it.

I noticed when reading through the past recipients that 2003 had Lanier Phillips. Does anyone here know his story and relationship to Newfoundland? I was surprised when I heard about it fairly recently.

Congratulations! You're pictures make me want to visit New Foundland. We were just on a cruise of the St Lawrence River, and got to Haifax, NS. It's all beautiful in that part of North America.

Congratulations!! You do post some great pictures and news entries. We are sorry we could not get to New Foundland on our last trip, buy the couple traveling with us had major car troubles, then my DH got real sick with major health problems. We still have this and PEI in our wish list.

Wow! I'm so glad you won, because since you posted pictures--one in particular of houses in different colors built going down a hill, I have really wanted to come there. You're pictures make it look so peaceful and friendly.
