I decided since I had lemons and had never made homemade lemonade I'd give it a try. I had to ream 11 lemons with a little wooden reamer to get about 1-1/4 c. juice. While I was doing that, I had simple sugar melting on the stove. Got everything put together, being very careful not to spill the coveted lemon juice, put the lid on the container and picked it up by the handle to take to the outside frig.

The lid flew off and I was left holding the lid and almost all the lemonade ended up on the cabinet fronts and kitchen floor. What a sticky mess. It splashed everywhere. I sopped up as much as I could and then mopped the floor TWICE. I'll probably be cleaning of sticky for weeks. :-(

Have you ever made such a big mess in the kitchen? I know it isn't the end of the world, but momma sure wasn't happy!

I'm sorry you had such an accident, but we have all made a sticky mess in the kitchen at some time in our cooking career.

I use alcohol in a spray bottle to clean up any sticky residue, and in my experience, it only takes one time. Look at it as a learning opportunity - next time, you will know to support the bottom of the container, too.

Uh! Sorry about your mess!

I once dropped a large Tupperware bowl that was holding a double batch of coleslaw (the kind with the oily dressing). The bowl broke and I had that oily mess everywhere. :(

I agree that rubbing alcohol works well to clean up sticky (or oily) messes!

I am trellising the Florida Weave way this year and have experienced the same thing - green slimy goo that's hard to wash off. I have 60 plants so after tending about 30, my hands are gross. I find, though, that each day when I'm a bit frustrated while hand washing, I'm thankful and overjoyed because SO many people in Denver metro lost their 2009 plants to hail. I would bet they would love to have our problem;)) Some of these poor gardeners replanted only to have the hail ruin the new plants too. It seems that my phone MUST ring the instant my hands are all nasty and that's the most irritating.

I have been reading about the "Klutz" in some cats. My cat is definitely a Klutz. After watching, owning and reading about cat behavior I've concluded that domestic cats still carry alot of wild cat behavior. Female cats are the hunters. They are agile, strong, intelligent hunters that will ban together to hunt for the food especially when they have young who still rely on them. They are quiet, stealthy, intelligent and together they are a hunting force with fierce skills that can quietly and effectively make a kill. The males on the other hand are scavengers, lone hunters and not the effective graceful and force their female counter parts are. They are there to protect the the pride and his young from other males. They are forceful and loud and use their large size to intimidate other males.youll also notice the playful cubs and just as human babies, they don't listen very well at times. Sometimes they push their boundaries. The playful side is necessary to teach them hunting skills and grow a relationship withing the pack. Some domestic cats are also prone to have vision problems as well. Some don't have the problems until later in life.

Gwen, I doubt that.... using the same glove for two tasks saves the consumer money (instead of buying the Klutz glove + a quilting glove). I DO NOT recommend using the quilting glove for protection with a rotary cutter. That's not how it was designed and wouldn't provide the same level of protection. Trust me, don't mess with rotary cutters.

Well, Patti43, I bet THAT just made your day!! So sorry, been there, done that with a gooey bar cookie mix, I put in an aluminum disposable 8X8 pan and the pan collapsed as as was putting it in the oven, Sticky mess all in the oven, down in the broiler pan and under the stove. Hope it doesn't take you to long to get rid of the sticky stuff.

DS did the exact same thing last Sunday! Sorry you lost all that yummy lemonaid and have a sticky mess.

Yes...I had been making french fries...and spilled the whole pot of oil on the kitchen floor and it splattered over everything. The bad part was we had company coming right at that time...and we couldn't get it cleaned up...The floor was slick and we couldn't walk. So we had the birthday party with a kitchen floor covered with towels.

Or like the night before last I was pouring boiling water off my lasagna noodles. I was standing belly up to the sink and the boiling water poured out over the edge of the sink and burned a large place on my belly. It was covered with blisters but most of them have gone down now. Now it is just hot pink and brown. ouchy.

That does sound like a mess. One time I left a half gallon of ice cream out on the kitchen counter. It of course melted over night and ran all over everything, including under drawers. It was a real mess. I think one drawer still sticks today.

Geez, Pattico, I think you're my long lost twin. Hope your tummy's okay. I keep a bottle of aloe under the sink for those occasions.

My biggest greasy mess was one year I didn't want to wait for Harry to take the big old turkey out of the oven so I tried to do it myself. The turkey and hot grease went all over the floor (thankfully not on me). I picked up the turkey and put it on the carving board to cool while I cleaned up what would have been some good gravy. Yes, we ate the darned turkey anyway.

I feel a lot better reading all your posts. So glad I'm not alone. Anybody else have a klutz story?

Last year my sister came down and canned some pears for me. She took them out of the canner and one exploded. Talk about a sticky mess. It was all over. One time we had friends over and I was making popcorn and I forgot to put the cover on it. Ther was popcorn all over but at least it wasnt a sticky mess.

I've never been able to make good homemade lemonade. What's this about melting sugar? You add it to iced cold water and lemon juice?

Last week, dropped a container of Texas caviar and it splattered all over the inside of the refrigerator, the floor, and the cabinets. It wasn't sticky though. Last Christmas, helping to move the turkey and the drippings splashed all over my shirt. I had to run change clothes even though all the guests were already there. Note to self: wear an apron!
