Dorothy Oahu and I (picture)

Well I finally got a new computer and have downloaded my pictures.

Here is a picture of Dorothy and I at the restaurant where we ate lunch. It was great to finally get together with her. We spent about 1 hours together visiting and talking about everything under the sun.

If you ever get a chance to meet her please do she is such a fun lady.

Take a look at Dorothy Perkins and Hiawatha pictures for your pinks and for the red Excelsea and Turner's Crimson Rambler for the reds. The reason the ones in the ditch are low growing is that they get bushhogged or weedet either by the county or by the landowner. That's the standard way of keeping the ditches functional for moving water away from the road. Given a tree, all of these roses will climb and will be really beautiful. It may take them a year to get the roots (like next winter) to be big enough to start to climb, but you should have some vertical canes by fall and those will be beautiful next spring, loaded with blooms. All of these, in good not great soil, have the potential to grow the size of washing machines in two years. They also climb really well on their own, but will benefit from a little help from you to get upright faster. These were the exciting roses of the early 1900s. Thousands of rooted slips were sold to beautiful the countryside and people started taking them for granted. Which is a shame because they are great roses. Some have powdery mildew problems but bloom anyway; others have no fungal problems in our part of the rose world.

I have a Super Dorothy. It doesn't have fragrance and it never develops it, unfortunately. However, it's an easily trainable rambler that supposedly repeats, though mine hasn't yet. I'm including a link to my blog with pictures of Super Dorothy. Here is a link that might be useful: Davy's Louisiana Gardening

So good to see you still here. Wanted to tell you I was so happy to find a gal here that teaches Polynesian dance. We have wanted Carlie to take dance or belong to a Halau since we found out she was a girl still in my womb. We got Carlie all ready to go and she was so excited as she loves to watch my husband's Hawaiian students hula. We went to the first class which the lady had a studio in the basement of her home. Well... I am sooooooo sad to say that she had many cats in her home that she didn't take care of properly, if you know what I mean.... so it smelled so bad of cat urine that my eyes watered. The white couch was BROWN in most places from the filth. Carlie went to one class.... only one. We are still on the hunt. Made me so sad, as I was so excited. We also wanted to get Tay into tyko drumming, but are having a tough time with that also now that he is in the hospital. Here is a link that might be useful: Know the signs... autism is on the rise.
