Did you see how happy, perky and smiling she was this morning when she showed up? She really thought she was going to get away with this one! So glad the judge and drs are smarter than she is!

Incompetent? On what basis -- that she is a pathological liar?

I watched Geraldo's show (and a couple of other commentary shows) last night and several critics/Attorneys on these shows said this is routine when the defense team is feeling a bit shaky about the outcome of the trial.

They also said it has been suggested that Casey MIGHT want to take the stand to 'tell her story', against the defense team's advice and they wanted to make sure Casey could stand up under the Prosecutors' cross examination.

It was also stated (by a former judge) that he is predicting that before the trial is over, the defense and the prosecution will make a plea deal. Casey will, however, do SOME time in jail for the 6 other felonies she has committed.

Whatever the verdict of this trial (any sort of conviction) it will be in the appeals court for at least 5 years (apparently, she can have up to 5 appeals processes) and Casey will remain in jail during that time. She WILL face some time in jail, unless she is acquitted of all charges.

Today they were talking about this on a couple shows. They showed a side by side picture of her when the jury was out and when they were in. Man she smiled from ear to ear when the jury was out. I think she is guilty..

It seems at the start of each day they ask gor a mistrial. I think at this point they should be working on a hung jury...to get a new trial and then a new trial and then...

Well, they have to ask for a mistrial any place they can, to preserve the possibility of getting an appeal. It's all part of the process.

Just thought of something. Originally, I thought she was all perky and giddy because she thought the trial was going to screach to a halt today, but after thinking it over.... What if she HAS been insisting she wants to testify, her attorney's asked for the mistrial due to incompetance to protect her from herself. Then, when she saw the reports stating she was competant, she was happy, smiling, laughing, because she knows now, she CAN testify! She thinks she can talk her way out of anything. And her attorneys cannot prevent her from testifying if she insists upon getting on the stand--it's her right as a defendant.

Know what I think? At this point, if I were her attorney, I'd concede the guilty verdict at this point and stop fighting her, and LET her get on the stand. After she testifies, they should have no trouble convincing the jury that while she is guilty, she's NOT in any kind of state of mind to deserve a death penalty--she's going to come across as totally off the wall. I honestly think it could make a difference in the jury's recommendation.

Azzalea - you said just what i've been thinking all day. I can't wait for her to testify, the cross should be quite a show.

Frankly, I don't believe in the death penalty. A better penalty for murder should be a single cell, with a thin mattress, minimal food and no communications - no visits, radio, internet or phone calls. Let any murder live with their crime, not get off by dying.
