Yahoo email ?

I've used Yahoo email for a very long time, not because I like it so much but because that address is linked to so many things it would be a PITA to change.

Anyway, I've always been able to check the box that said "keep me signed in on this computer" and it automatically filled in my password. Now I have to fill in my password all the time. It is set so that after a certain amount of time, I have to sign in again. I never check it anywhere but my laptop and no one uses that but me.

Is there anyway to stay signed in now? Am I missing something?

sometimes I have to reset my info via options and account... something or other.

Mine is set to stay signed in for 2 weeks.

I use it for the same reason you do, Dedtired. Every time I purge my cookies and temporary files, I have to sign in again everywhere. It's a real PITA. I have noticed it on Yahoo more often--even when I haven't deleted the temp. files.

I have it all prepared to paste into the proper place on the yahoo signature area but it won't allow me to paste anything. There is a box that says " type" and it appears that is all that it will let you do. The old yahoo mail did not have this problem. You could put what you wanted. I tried to have it go to where I had it saved on my computer but it wouldn't do that either. Hopefullly they update this, if that is not presently allowed. Thanks for your suggestion.

Went to FF24 and Yahoo email login behaves differently

There is agreement it is a FF24 with Yahoo problem. The workaround? This must be repeated each and every time one signs into yahoo mail. Click the Yahoo user id box then click the yahoo password box then double click the yahoo id box again and, presto, we are back to behavior like FF23 and earlier.

FYI.... A very short time ago, a friend of mine was a victim of this particular hack at Yahoo. I was listed in her contact list and all I can say is that this "nasty" is virulent. I don't use any Yahoo product and rarely, if ever visit their website. She is the only email friend I have that uses their email and even though we don't converse on a daily basis, just being one of her contacts made me a victim. I began to be barraged with unsavory mail...none of which I opened directly. But, no matter what protection I have on my system [and it's the best] I could not stop the onslaught. I suspect the reason being that I was not the addressee. The clever sender copied me rather than sending directly to my address. I tried every trick I knew to stop the mail...blocking IP #s, etc and nothing worked. My only recourse to stop the action was to delete my own email account entirely and begin a new. I'd had the account for sixteen years with nary a problem. Deleting it felt like loosing an old friend. Then I advised my friend to find another email program. Unfortunately, she didn't heed my advice and I expect she's been hit again. I insisted that she not put my new email address in her contact list so I may be safe this time around...but if not...the account I opened to continue conversing with her is what I consider a throw away account. I won't suffer if I have to close it quickly. Although...when I opened the new account to continue conversing with her...I made her promise not to list me as a contact anywhere on her system. I relate this experience for those of you...who like Jodi...are having difficulty resetting a password...and strongly suggest that you find new non-Yahoo email programs. As the unwitting recipient of my friends computer infection...I had to change all my accounts, etc and it's a task I wouldn't want to repeat. Anne

I think there was another option to pick besides the attach one, if you are talking about the one that put the picture itself in the body of the letter. When they changed the format or upgraded yahoo quite some time ago that seemed to have disappeared. I haven't sent pictures through yahoo for some time but remember using it too, because you didn't have to worry if the person receiving the email would be able to open an attatchment.

I think I've signed in five times today. I'll poke around in the options and see if I can find anything. Thanks.

Same here - over the past 2-3 days I have had to login each time. It seems that there have been many changes to yahoo email recently.

Its probably another glitch, but you will have to sign on about every 2 weeks once you set it. I don't remember where to find the settings. Check google if nothing else works,

I've looked and looked and looked for a place to set it to "remember me", but I just cannot find it and I am usually good at this sort of thing. It is seriously so annoying that I may go to the trouble of switching to Gmail.

I even tried searching the Yahoo Community for help, but could not come up with anything. Why don't these companies leave well enough alone?

Glad to hear I am not the only one in this boat.

I finally had to delete my Yahoo accounts; their security measures are extremely lax - and my accounts had been hacked multiple times (I don't use "words" for passwords, and I use upper/lowercase, numbers AND special characters - never fewer than 20 characters...).

When you are in Yahoo mail, go to:
- settings (that little gear)
- account info
- again sign into your account
- sign in & security
- change sign in settings
- make the change.....it looks like you have a choice of either 1 day or 2 weeks
- save your changes....

Thanks, Kanooka, and all. I did change it to one day. What I still can't find is a way for Yahoo to auto fill my password the way it used to do. I believe it said "remember me on this computer" next to a check box.

Between this and my new (used) Nook, I am going nuts!

Are you sure you really want a total autofill? I think mine has always been for two weeks, but I want to control when my password is inserted.

dedtired, repeat the above steps that I outlined......but this time, change the sign in settings to 2 weeks.....

That way, you will only need to sign in once every 2 weeks....

I think this now replaces the "remember me on this computer" that you are looking for.....

Yes. I am lazy. I want the autofill. I am willing to take the risk! I only have that on my laptop and no one uses it but me.

Okay, going to switch to two weeks. We'll see how that goes.
