Kino sandals from Key West

I love these sandals. They make them at a factory in Key West and you can watch them being made. They last really well and are comfortable. They used to only cost $9.00 a few years ago. I'm ordering a couple pair--but you have to call to order.

Better add, I don't work for them in any way. I just like sandals.

They look nice, but I wish they'd have pictures taken from different angles too.. can't tell what the heel and sole look like.

Do you think a lot of men order the ones named Retardado? lol Sorry, I'm sure that means something perfectly acceptable in Spanish.

Hello! Thanks for asking how it went! We went for a week at the end of July, and overall it was a good trip. Thank you all for your advice. I took it to heart, and when I was having moments of insecurity, all of your words would come to mind. I only bought clothes that I really liked and felt comfortable in-- and I think I looked the best I could. More importantly, I tried to just relax and have fun. My little boy had a fantastic time playing with his cousins, swimming, and going to the beach. I actually had quite a bit of relaxation time because he was so occupied with the kids. There was the usual level of drama (family disagreements, one SIL going through an ugly divorce, too much drinking) but I tried to ignore it and not get involved. The only shopping I did was at the bookstore :) and I didn't see anyone famous this year! My SIL saw Sarah Jessica Parker one day, but I wasn't there. Thanks again :) Jen

Msmarion, glad these threads have inspired you. Let us know how you do. I, too, find everyone's hard work inspiring. It motivates me to keep going. Today I worked on my clothing closet with my good friend. I tried on all of my dresses, skirts, and jackets. I got rid of 17 items. It was really interesting to have someone objectively evaluate how clothing looks on you. It made me realize how harsh I am on myself! My friend is someone who is particular about how clothing fits, flattering styles, age appropriateness, etc., and it was a positive experience. I got rid of two vintage dresses because they didn't fit or flatter my shape well. I really liked these dresses, too , but I chose to keep others that look much better on me. Two contemporary dresses were nixed because they were a tad short. My friend said I could get away with them, but because I have others that look better I decided to keep just the best ones. The process has started to feel and sound familiar to other culling tasks I've completed -- my closet has a limited amount of space; I have lots of clothing but certain items are the most flattering; these clothes are in good condition; I enjoy wearing them and do wear them. I keep only the best of everything. I am glad to have gotten this far, but still have a lot to do. Slacks, tops, and shoes remain, but I already have more room in one closet. I need to start a list of particular items that would help round out my wardrobe, but I'm not going to buy anything until I have completed the entire culling process. Also started working on removing an applied texture from the walls of one of our bedrooms. Originally thought it was sand-textured paint, but it's a bit thicker than that. I'm using a spackling tool to lift and chip it off. It's a bigger project than anticipated, but I think the results will be better. Tina

I guess it was confusing...the KOKOMO which is mentioned in the Beach Boys song is Sandals Cay. I agree that Islamorado is also nice. I only live a couple hours north of it.

There's not much of a heel, Lydia. They're pretty flat like a flip-flop. I had the "Madaline" a while back and I want to order another pair of them plus a few others. They run true to size and last a long time. Used to be they only had a few different styles and hardly any colors (and they also only cost $9.00) LOL!

I was in Kino's in February! Interesting place. Unfortunately, none of their styles fit me well enough to buy them (I'm always hard to fit). But my sister bought a nice purse for about $20.

Not a fancy place at all! It's basically a warehouse type building, with a counter that displays all the sandals. You can see the sandals lined up on the counter in this photo. You ask the person behind the counter to hand you the size you need (they're all right behind the counter), you try them on (no worries about bare feet, apparently!), and out you go!

I have Lili and three colors. They are not my favorite but when I to wear something different. One of my customers was going down to KW and picked them up for me. I never knew they had different styles. How silly. LOL

Cute sandals, but I need good arch support, and I have a bad/unfortunate habit of stubbing my toe, so I need "big toe protection." That's why I only wear Keen sandals. I must have three or four dozen pair -- a huge variety of colors!

I remember paying $6 for them in late 70's, early 80's!!
They never wear out- if I remember right, the rubber sole was from tires.
Just like a flip-flop. No arch support at all.

My Teva flip-flops have arch support. Just bought another pair for $18 at Famous Footwear.
