Kino sandals from Key West

I love these sandals. They make them at a factory in Key West and you can watch them being made. They last really well and are comfortable. They used to only cost $9.00 a few years ago. I'm ordering a couple pair--but you have to call to order.

Better add, I don't work for them in any way. I just like sandals.

They look nice, but I wish they'd have pictures taken from different angles too.. can't tell what the heel and sole look like.

Do you think a lot of men order the ones named Retardado? lol Sorry, I'm sure that means something perfectly acceptable in Spanish.

Corrie, does your leaving Key West for Zone 9 mean that someone from Zone 9 (I volunteer!) gets to move there? (IÃ¢ÂÂm sorry if thatÃ¢ÂÂs meanÃ¢ÂÂ¦ moving to the Keys is like the moving to Hawaii - a dream that will never happen unless I win the lottery!) Zone 9Ã¢ÂÂ¦ Z9ers on the east coast seem to have some different options from us on the Pinellas peninsula. I, personally, would take time after moving to Lake Wales, to visit Bok Tower (and get an annual membership and maybe become a volunteer there). Their plantings may tell you a lot about your new home and there should be helpful locals and experts on hand. http://www.boktowergardens.org If you were there today, October 17, I see they are having their 1st annual plant sale, complete with master gardener talks. Nanny you might want to look into the pants that are made of wind resistant fabric as they are very light. Also the wool and silk underwear at Sierra is weightless and very warm. You wouldn't need jeans as they aren't warm anyway since they are cotton. I found that the convertible pants are essentially wind resistant fabric and therefore are very warm while taking up no room and drying in minutes. When it got really cold I put on a pair of tights under them and they were exceptionally comfortable..and I am a person that is ALWAYS cold. Heavy tops take up a lot of room and instead if you layer several light tops you get way more warmth and less weight plus more options. Just a thought to help you with your plans. Wow.. I am a little surprised by how many see JJill as "old lady" clothes. I've been wearing JJill casual wear since my early 30s (I am 50 now). There's no question that the store has changed over the years-- and I do think it leans a older these days-- but there are still some great pieces! I absolutely love their "perfect tank" and the elliptical tees. I also like the gauzy flowy boho tops. They don't carry my favorite linen pants anymore but I do have a few pairs of their boyfriend jeans. I don't think I dress "old lady" at all LOL-- in fact, there are some who would say I dress too young for my age! The store seemed like a good fit for JLC's slightly hippie boho style, her budget and her body shape... oh! and for the weather she'll be facing. My bigger issue with JJill is the sinking quality (and with many other stores!). I first started shopping there because they had all natural fibers-- no more. I still stick with their all cotton (or linen.. or cashmere) pieces but now I know I need to check fabric content. Happy Birthday, JLC!! I think some of you are being a tad overly sensitive. Relating the story of buying the top and what DH said was in no way "wagging" a finger and/or making fun of anyone. And my opinion of gray and black clothes was just that, my opinion (like ya'lls). BTW, I have black and gray, just very little of it. DH wasn't being hateful or hurtful. I've taken this thread in stride and not been offended in the least (some people would have been). I've thanked everyone for their comments and said I appreciate them. Just thought you'd like to know the outcome and how I came to my decision. Shirt is actually shown with a pair of jeans. I'm planning on wearing it with white capris this spring and summer. Sadly, I can no longer wear the type shoes posted above and haven't been able to in 20 years :( Wish I could! I'm a mostly tennis shoe, clog/mule, sandal person. I'm a stay at home mom, wife and Grammuffy who likes a colorful wardrobe. I'm not in the business sector so I can wear my pretty, colorful, happy wardrobe whenever I want :) Welcome to (part of) my closet. The shirt in question is hanging on the far right. There's not much of a heel, Lydia. They're pretty flat like a flip-flop. I had the "Madaline" a while back and I want to order another pair of them plus a few others. They run true to size and last a long time. Used to be they only had a few different styles and hardly any colors (and they also only cost $9.00) LOL!

I was in Kino's in February! Interesting place. Unfortunately, none of their styles fit me well enough to buy them (I'm always hard to fit). But my sister bought a nice purse for about $20.

Not a fancy place at all! It's basically a warehouse type building, with a counter that displays all the sandals. You can see the sandals lined up on the counter in this photo. You ask the person behind the counter to hand you the size you need (they're all right behind the counter), you try them on (no worries about bare feet, apparently!), and out you go!

I have Lili and three colors. They are not my favorite but when I to wear something different. One of my customers was going down to KW and picked them up for me. I never knew they had different styles. How silly. LOL

Cute sandals, but I need good arch support, and I have a bad/unfortunate habit of stubbing my toe, so I need "big toe protection." That's why I only wear Keen sandals. I must have three or four dozen pair -- a huge variety of colors!

I remember paying $6 for them in late 70's, early 80's!!
They never wear out- if I remember right, the rubber sole was from tires.
Just like a flip-flop. No arch support at all.

My Teva flip-flops have arch support. Just bought another pair for $18 at Famous Footwear.
