Out with friends tonight most likely. Tomorrow we have a fish fry to attend. Not sure any of that qualifies as "big plans" though. LOL

What do you have planned AA?

Me?? My life is not my own! Granddaughter lives with me, and have Grandson for the weekend. So will spend most of my time pulling them apart or argueing with them. Teenagers...Grrrrrrr. lol I do have a couple bookcases I need to strip and repaint, and "Shultz" my mini schnauzer needs a bath. Neither of these tasks are gonna be fun lol

Pea soup and ham sounds good, but I've been eating a lot of soup lately, as I have been under the weather since Wednesday of last week, which is why I did not post under TGIF last week. I'm much better now, probably at 95%, but I will still take it easy this week-end. It's gotten cool here (mid 60s) and I think we may have had rain last night, which might happen again this week-end, which would be wonderful. If I'm up to it, I will make tamales. I found corn husks at Sprout's, but they cost $5, which I found to be expensive. Last Saturday (when I should have stayed home), we went to what I thought was a Von's close to our house, but it is now a dollar (or 99 cent) store, and I guess corn husks are too expensive for them to carry! Before that we went to a grocery/liquor store that is even closer to our house, and its doors had been chained, as it is going through a change of ownership. The large recycling center in its parking lot was still open, however, but that was all that was going on. Kevin said that he had seen people who collect bottles and cans get vouchers for what they had collected and then used those vouchers to buy lottery tickets! I think they should have given them food stamps instead. There are too many dollar stores now, I think. The fruit and vegetable market that we used to go to is also now a dollar store. I will say that the dollar store that used to be a Von's is much cleaner than the Von's was, and I did not shop at the Von's because it was not very nice. It would be nice if a dollar store would reopen as a vegetable market. Maybe I'll make pizzas this week-end and put some of my Roma tomatoes on them. I've been mostly avoiding cheese while I was sick, as I think it makes congestion worse. I think I'll be fully recovered by tomorrow. I want to make something besides soup. I did make some very good cabbage soup while I was sick, and it was quick and easy and much better than I expected, although it did not have much of a cabbage flavor. I had Kimchee flavored soup yesterday. I turn the TV off whenever anything Superbowl comes on - it's just a lot of annoying noise as far as I'm concerned. It is damp here today too, we got some flurries last evening and now it is more of a mist with it turning to rain I think by the end of the day. I will just be here doing housework stuff as we are still in the orange alert, no schools in session once again. Izzi and I are sharing my breakfast of eggs and toast. I am having hot tea. My son just called and let me know what his plans are for today. Husband is off to work, so I have the day to work around here hopefully with out too much interruption. I hope everyone keeps safe as it is icy underfoot, at least it is here. Sue in Central Indiana

TGIF everyone. I've been too busy to get into the holiday spirit this year. Bagged putting up a tree, and didn't bother with the usual lights. Work is decorated and that's where I spend most of my time. We'll go to The Kid's for Christmas and she's all into being a Martha (Stewart), so I don't feel too deprived. It's a long weekend for me, with a rare Saturday off. It's been an odd week, including bunch of deadlines, contentious meetings and being the victim of a random act of kindness (detailed on the Conversations side). I started out my weekend Thursday night with a deep tissue massage... came home, had a glass of wine and fell soundly asleep in my chair. Ahhhhh....... Today was a trip to town for a doctor appt. during our first real snow. People got complacent, I think...wrecks and ambulances everywhere. So we grabbed some groceries and ran for home. I got my sis's package mailed.... main mission accomplished. Tomorrow I'll wrap the kids' presents, put together goodie baskets for work. Maybe bake something using the wonderful crystallized ginger one of my girls brought me from Australia. Sunday DH made an appointment for a hearing test. At noon. At Costco. On the Sunday before Christmas. argh. Clinking with a cup of eggnog laced w/ rum. Be healthy and travel safely everyone.

Toolbelt ( neat handle!!) I can't speak for the States but in Canada the homeless are almost always mentally ill or addicts. They resist any type of shelter provided to them. Even temporary shelter when it is bitter cold. They are paranoid and distrustful. Another large segment are runaway children that have left incredibly abusive homes. These kids are a bit easier to get to and persuade to take the help that is available. Many years ago the laws were changed so that no person could be held in any type of facility against their will. The hospitals for the mentally disabled were shut down with little or now support put in it's place. It's truly a tragic situation. Part of me says these people should be sheltered for their own well being and another part says they are entitles to live as they "choose" Anyhow, this is a real twist and turn for TGIF but perhaps a good one in that we all need to open our eyes to the unfortunate circumstances of others,

No plans except keeping cool. We had to be out in this heat 3 days in a row and oday I swear I will not leave my nice, air-conditioned home.

dh is golfing with ds2...so i'm stuck home, unless i drive his little truck..yuck! the other kid's havn't mentioned father's day...not a big deal though...

Saturday, We have a Luau to go to. Sunday I hopefully will get some cleaning done and will be watching the U.S. Open.

Well we consider it my birthday / our anniversary weekend since Monday 20th is the actual date (of both)this year. Hoping to at least go out to eat at a nice place, I have been craving lobster! Have friends from out of town in for a visit, will probably do a bit of shopping. Really would love not to have to cook a single thing from today through Monday night LOL. And there had better be presents involved!

(seeing how I had to pay out over $500 for an AC repair today the presents may be lacking LOL) at least I am COOL

Picking up DH and DS at Minneapolis airport tonight at MIDNIGHT,ugh. That means we won't be home til 2AM, but I still plan to get up and go to exercise class then spend the rest of the weekend with my boys. I want to see pictures of their trip and hear all about it. They are returning from 3 weeks in Amsterdam/Germany/Poland and Ukraine where they visited DD. I was planning to go but the old dog needed me here, and I don't think he could have survived the kennel. Never thought he'd still be around when we started planning the trip in January. Really, really glad my guys will be home safe and sound.

Hubs played last nite, got home at 4:30 this morning. We both got up at 6, made coffee, read the paper then out the door at 8am.

I had an appt to go to, then he had to go right away to set up and sound check for an evening. He'll be home early (11:30 pm) then crash and we'll head out to see Mom tomorrow.

She's had another set-back :((

I have you beat Lydia! The 20th will be our 37th year anniversary. And it is also my birthday, yes I got married on my birthday. But he must get me 2 gifts LOL

Yes, you do have me beat! 37 years is a long time. Sometimes I'm not sure I'll make it to 25! lol
