Can you use another computer-maybe at work, etc and download adobe on a flashdrive and then onto your laptop from there? Not sure if that is what you asking...just a thought.

Do you have Win98 or Win98 SE? You can use Acrobat Reader 6.0 with SE. For Win98, you'll need version 5.0.

I'd suggest you forget about Adobe Reader and use Foxit PDF Reader. Much faster and is a tiny file by comparison. A couple mb verses about 20-30mb for Adobe. I include it on my "essentials" list, use it on all my machines and it's a standard download on all new machines I work on. Have been using it for years.

The PDF Reader is free, the editor, though, is a pay program. According to CNET, it works on on Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, 2003 and Vista, although the Foxit site doesn't mention Vista. It could be they haven't updated the site.
