People never cease to amaze (??) me!

We have a Mobile home park on 8 acres of land.4 acres in the front of the property is the park and the other 4 on the back is just pasture.We have some old cars up there and my DD's old travel trailer that she has stuff stored in.We have just put in RV spaces in the park part because of the refinery blow up,for people who are coming in to work there.We have 15 spaces filled.Anyway,my DD lives across the driveway from me.She called this morning at 7:30 to tell me that they had heard all the dogs barking and her DH said he saw one of the tenants talking to his wife at their RV then he started walking up to the back of the property,so he went to see what he was doing.He wanted to be sure the guy wasn't prowling around the old trailer.He said when he got there the guy was squatted down beside the trailer using the bathroom!!! He asked him what the he!! he was doing and told him he was calling the Sheriff. The guy followed him all the way back begging him not to call the Sheriff! LOL Of course he didn't but I couldn't believe the guy would do something like that.We are kind of in the country but not THAT far out in the country! LOL These people have nice travel trailers,big ones with slide outs,do they not have a bathroom?? I don't know,maybe someone else was in the bathroom and he really had to go but this is an open area,right off the highway and a public street runs along the side,and he had to walk half a block to get there! Man, get a bucket! Anyone in the park could have seen him or anyone driving down the side street.There are neighbors behind us and on both sides and any of them could have looked out their front or back door and seen(saw?)him.Can you tell I am still flabbergasted? LOL DH will have a talk with him this evening.

Sorry to say, we see similiar actions in RV parks traveling. Big rigs, won't pay 1.00 extra for electricity, or smoke outside next to my rig away from his/hers/ or bar b que away from their rig next to yours and yes we have seen people use outside instead of inside very close to a park bathroom. Sad!

I was once travelling on an interstate, in a majory NE city (the kind of highway that has exits with gas stations, fast food places, 7-11's every couple of miles.) And what did we see? A woman had climbed up the berm along the highway (the better for motorists to see her????) and was squatting, with her back toward traffic, for all passing to see what she was doing. It was rush hour, btw.

You just have to wonder what kind of emergency one would have that they couldn't hold off for another minute? and what mindset would make someone choose such an exposed way to handle things. I've thought, myself, if I were ever hit with a terrible, uncontrollable 'emergency', I'd open both side car doors, and that would provide a sliver of privacy. Fortunately--or maybe I just plan better than these folks--it's never come to that--LOL!

I really can't imagine how someone could think they could do that to your property. Just unbelievable, itsn't it?

I love the $2 bill story and have no trouble believing it. And we've all experienced the teenaged clerk who is completely befuddled, who just has no idea what to do when you give them $10 and a dime for a $5.10 purchase. Doesn't anybody teach their kids how to count change? Don't kids play Monopoly with their parents any more? That's how I learned! Back to the 96-year-old who was raised on a farm - has she lived on a farm at all since she was a child? 90 years ago, a farmer was likely to raise all his own chickens. Two-day delivery of chicks from McMurray's wasn't around then, so there HAD to be a rooster, for the continuation of the flock. A farm child back then would have no idea you didn't need roosters to get eggs, since there always WAS a rooster. Huge-breasted Cornish cross chickens hadn't been bred yet. Most folks used the same chickens for eggs and meat - and, without roosters, there was no future eggs or meat. That excuses the 96-year-old, but nothing excuses a kid who won't eat an animal, yet lives on meat. That's just plain sad. The worst part is that I doubt he's an exception, among city kids. My sister had a couple of farm interns one summer. One called her mother one day and happened to tell her she was harvesting garlic that day. Her mother was amazed that garlic grows on a plant, and just flat didn't believe that the bulb was a root, dug up from underground. Everybody knows garlic is a powder that comes in spice jars! I compost using uncontained piles in an area that is about 15' square. When I turn the piles by moving them to the next spot some of the finer pieces are left behind - it seems like a small amount but it adds up and after being walked on a bit (because it is now in the new pathway) it seems to be the surface of the ground and is not disturbed even when I turn the finishing piles with a shovel. I estimate that there is around 2" of compacted compost over the entire area - which would be just a bit less material than my entire last finished pile (about 1 1/2 yards.) I would bet that if you put your composters on concrete or plastic you would not "lose" as much material - but I would also bet you would have to baby them more to get the same rate of decomposition. I have an earth machine that has been sitting empty for 10+ years after I got frustrated with it (I should try it again for mostly kitchen waste). Until I started making larger piles I wasn't very successful at getting any amount of compost. I have found that a starting pile that is 4' wide at the base x 5' tall x as long as I can get it works well for me (I'm sure I got that idea from someone here). The material is stored in smaller piles that are stashed around the property until I get to them (it doesn't seem like that part would work for you but cut down piles are still an improvement for me). I can put blackberry canes and pencil-thin brush that are cut into 3 foot pieces into the larger piles and they go away, in smaller piles they were a big problem and it is easier for me to keep the moisture level and C/N in the right range. Hi Josh, I wouldn't say that either but damn, I live in an apartment and I am quickly running low on space. You see my main addiction is with tropical fruit trees. Of all the tropicals on the planet, I have to be hooked on this group of plants? I seriously think I must have lived on a tropical island in a previous life. LOL! Mike, You yourself have taught me a lot and it has been great getting to know ya! You truly are an awesome man, and very VERY generous! I just hope things are going better for ya. So many people in the past taking advantage of you...AND JUST TO BE CLEAR, I DON'T MEAN THAT ABOUT ANYONE HERE! I love this group of people here, Rhizo, Josh, Mike, Laura, so many, I hate to give names because I know all ready I have left so many out. You all have taught me how to take much better care of my citrus. MY 'ORo Blanco' is going thru such a HUGE growth spurt right now, my 'Meyer' dropped a few leaves, and fruits but it's flushing all ready, same with my 'Ponderosa'. A couple years ago, the only citrus I could grow was my 'Key lime' and 'Ponderosa' but because of this awesome group, I have now expanded to what I have now! HEy Mike, One last thing...when you have some free time(which I know isnot a lot for you), could you post some pics of your bonsai 'Ponderosa'? Oh my, milosmom! No wonder you are MIA! Those are just the cutest lil' puppies! Oh my, what work! & I hope the person who left them in the porta potty will never experience that kind of abandonment in their own life! Oh, how terrible! Anyway, thank God for you, milosmom! Appreciated! Thank you for commenting on my birds...they are so beautiful to enjoy esp in the cold Winter mos. Here is one of my fav pics I took this mo. from my porch ...hiding behind the tree I have on the porch & thru the window...this Red-Bellied Woodpecker would turn every once in awhile & I was afraid he'd see me & fly off...so it looks like I'm getting the 'stare!' I could top those. We run a business too, just down from the bars and believe me, just when we think we've seen it all you find out you HAVEN'T!
