Just to throw something else in here on how ignorant we as Americans are and how with out question we will buy and consume products just because we trust the source or we just do not care. Thankyou to those concerned about this issue who have posted here. I am proud to be a certified Organic grower therefore I want nothing to do with GMO for me, or my familiy ,or my customers. The link below is an article on GMO potatoes. I tried to find another article about a law suet with Mcdonalds but I couldnt'. Bottom line Mcdonalds and Burgerking have been serving GMO potates for nearly 10years in America till it came to light thanks to concerned groups which sued. Mcdonalds as a settlement in the suet to squash the issue before it became too public decided to stop using GMO potatoes rather than have a public backlash. If it were not for those who are concerned you would still be eating GMO potatoes. GMO potatoes that contain a herbiced tolerant gene (roundout) and a bacterial pesticide(BT). It is one thing to spray or coat our food with a toxin. I use BT the organic natural bacteria. But I at least have the option to wash most of it off, But to put that same pesticide in each and every cellof the plant I intend to eat I can not handle. I have not eaten at any national fast food chain in over ten years and am proud of that fact. I also will not and have not shopped at any big box store in nearly two years. I will not be a hipocrit and say one thing and do another. I want to know what I am feeding to my grandchild and family and I want to support my country by buying American and local grown food. and products. Rodger

Hey, thanks everyone! Those of you who posted pics of where you all keep your slow cookers, thank you for making the effort to do that! macybaby, your hobby closet photos are amazing! It made me a bit homesick for my parents' house--with the videotapes alongside the appliances. :-) I was always confused about the difference between the "Super Susan" (no pole) and the Lazy Susan (with pole). I mean, I didn't understand how the Super Susan could rotate without a pole! Based on this thread, I dug up one of the cabinet companies brochures I still have in the house and found a photo--and now I think I understand. Alas, I think what happened is I opted for the Lazy Susan type because of the door style. I liked the look of the inset type of door the Lazy Susan has (where the door goes in as it rotates), instead of the other door. (Form won out over function that time!) abfabamy, thanks so much for your voice of experience about keeping the heavy slow cookers in a pole-type Lazy Susan for 16 years without problems! That's a great track record, and makes me feel more confident about doing it myself. Tonight, I tried putting the big slow cooker into one of my Lazy Susans and it fits through the opening (whew, I had been wondering if it would). So I think that's the way I'm going to go. (And if it turns out that I'm not slow cooking as much as I thought, it can always go down into the basement.) Thanks again everyone! Lee

Corners are always difficult. Blum makes those cool corner drawers like plllog. however, a little wedge of 2 triangles are wasted to the left and right of the drawers, which i could not afford to lose... Magic corner (I think is the name) does not. There are other pullout corner devices that do wastes less time and the contents are pulled out. These do not have folding corner doors that lazy susans have. The problem with lazy susan is that the opening is small to get things in and out of the spot. Lasy susans require that the corners have hinged doors. I did not like these very well in my old kitchen. Currently, I installed pullout type of corner peanuts. This way, I have a place to store oversized things which do not fit into drawers. It is not their usual thing that they offer because they were not sure that hardware would last if you really load them up! I always taste test one grape. I am testing for firmness. I've had too many times when I bought grapes and when I get home, I find out that they are soft (not fresh). That is the fault of the store, so I do not feel guilty about eating one before I buy. As for cut fruit, I would never buy a cut watermelon or any other cut fruit because of dirty knives and I don't want someone's hands all over it. Also, I only buy USA fruit (except for bananas). That means no grapes from Chile, etc. In winter I wanted to buy an orange and they were from South Africa. South Africa! With California and Florida growing oranges, I have to buy an orange from South Africa? I actually looked up on Google the distance from where I live to South Africa and it is almost 8000 miles. I complained to the manager and he said that the store buyers try to get the best deal for the shopper. Wrong. They are getting the best deal for themselves. I'm not crazy about produce from Mexico, but I've resigned myself to that, unless I can avoid it. For example, tomatoes from Mexico. I would never buy the onions from Peru. And absolutely no garlic from China. I bought some frozen strawberries and when I got home I found out that they were from Egypt. Egypt! Come on! Those went straight down the garbage disposal. By the way, I shop at a regular grocery store---Stop and Shop.
