Charm Braclet For Grandaughter..

Cocooner, I hope you don't mind stealing your bracelet idea. I will be sure to tell her where I got the idea. My grandaughter, Rachael, is a very special young lady. Rachael is 6. Her other grandma died unexpectly just 2 months after she was born. I want her to know who she was. Grandma Arellia came for a visit on the first Mother's day after Rachael was born. My son took lots of pictures. Thank goodness he did because she died the following Saturday. I have one of the pictures here on my computer desk.. Rachael loves seeing it when she comes. Arellia loved flowers. She had the most beautiful gardens. She also was a painter. She had books published.. I thought something to do with her gardens or painting..

Again, I hope you don't mind me stealing your idea. It is a wonderful one...

All of my cyber friends at OHH gave me a charm bracelet and nearly 50 different charms. Each charm represented something that they knew about me. It is so pretty and I love it so much. I know most of the charms and who gave them to me by heart. My friends timed it so that I got it just before I went to the hospital to have my right lung removed..well most of it...It is a gift that I cherish.

I received my wonderful box from Jeanette! It was full to the brim with bright orange and black wrapped surprises! I got: a wonderful Halloween kitchen towel. I love to change my kitchen towels for the season and didn't have a Halloween-themed one - thanks! a cute pumpkin votive candle holder with a scented candle in it a black and orange paper lantern a wonderfully scented potpurri mix a halloween wind sock a spider web wine/champagne goblet (so cute!) a spider on a spring a silver starred Halloween hat (sorry Jeanette - no digital camera to take a picture - my daughter kept saying "you're not going to wear that in front of my friends are you? - LOL!" a spooky hanging ghosty that emits an eeery sound - scares the daylights out of my little dog......... mummy's passion fruit tea bags and a ghost tin of chocolate kisses (oops all gone - how did that happen he he) Thanks Jeanette! Good Afternoon Everyone!! I'M SO SORRY it has taken me this long to post. Bracing for Sandy, and then, after Sandy...we've been a little busy. But, thank goodness no where close to the aweful devestation in lower NY and NJ. My prayers are with those poor people. We only lost power, a part of a tree went down and some siding blew off the garage. Even with that little bit we are just now getting back into the swing of things. Those poor people I'm watching on the news, my heart just breaks for them. :( Maryanne, so glad the package made it to you. I was a little worried with the way it was a kinda overstuffed, lol. The pumpkin walk went terrific. We did have splendid weather for that. We had over 200 kids show up to claim their pumpkins. For a first year event, we think it was a super success. :) The packages are certainly flyin.... Sorry, I just noticed there was another question! I used greeting cards and cut out the letters.And found pictures on the net,and typed out words. But I did find out the hard way that if I just printed a pic on plain paper it became transparent, so after that I glued them to cardboard. I made one for my daughter of band memorabilia, I used an old Metallica ticket of hers,and it became almost invisible, I hope it doesn't upset her too much. I put in a Misfits button and a tiny strip from the Misfits movie of the stars names,and a bracelet she made when she was a little girl that had metal beads with her initials on it,and a red heart,and a small piece of fishnet stocking,lolol! and a moon charm--for celestial,her name is Celeste.....and she has a moon and sun tattoo,too. Red rhinestones in silver settings and black glitter and some silver glitter, and a black rhinestone spider that came off her old bobby pin:) I made LilithMoonbeam one with a fairy :) It's the one to the left of the Misfits one.and the one to the right is for my sister. It's got a lot of peridot in it,and an M I cut off of a Cozumel silver spoon. The tiny ones are souvenir spoons I bought at the flea market,sterling plate. You can see I used some of the same pictures more than once :)

I have a beautiful silver charm bracelet Mom gave me when I turned 16. I've considered moving all the charms to a necklace since it's rather overloaded now. I must get it photographed! I also have two Italian charm bracelets. One represents my my AF days, and the second one is my "other life." LOL This shows the charm for Harry, mine and DH's birthstones, and an AF emblem. Part of the AF braclet, a Nikon camera (my job was photo journalist.) Spanish flag, red dancing shoes, Andorra flag, and lobsters. The AF bracelet also has a charm for the space shuttle, "mystery" (time in England), a custom photo charm of an F-16, and a party girl (wearing the same dress I bought for a Christmas party!)

Old hands... trin......I have always had great nails but not great skin.......I thought it was a wonderful gift...The charms are not expensive and we have done it as a gift several times now. It made me very teary when I received mine. I have a picture that Beloved took when I was opening the box and I'm just boohooing...

Thanks for adding this story, Susie ... perhaps it will nurture a seedling that was planted in the mind of several with cocooner's story.

How much pleasanter if gift-giving can be a shared thing rather than a comptetitive exercise.

I am blessed with a wonderful daughter-in-law, too. This will mean a lot to her. too. I love both of them dearly..
