If your life was a charm bracelet

I found my sterling silver charm bracelet from the 60s recently. It was fun to see the charms there, and I got to thinking. What charms would I add to represent my life since that time?

I thought of added family members, my interests, my favorite breed of dog, places I'd travelled and the like. I wondered if I would get a new bracelet to add charms, or if I'd add them to the one I had.

It was a neat exercise to think of those things since it made me think about what's been most important in my life.

I loved my charm bracelet. Lots of memories attached. Sad to say, was stolen at a car wash.

Interesting to think about. There would be lots to add.
I still wear mine occasionally. I combined my mother's charms with mine. It takes a while to polish it but I keep it a silver cloth bag. Come to think of it I have a few to add. I'll have to pick up some jump rings at the jewlery store.
DH bought me a gold charm holder and many sewing related charms for it back in the 90's. I haven't worn that in a few years.

Jewelry making is very fun but I do think it is a pretty expensive hobby. If you use sterling silver and crystals or other semi or precious stones it can add up, handcrafted lampwork beads are beautiful but can get costly also. If you purchase the sterling silver letter beads they are about $1.00 each. If you buy good crystals they add up also. If you try it (jewelry making) just beware that it is very addicting = )

i personally wouldn't wear mine... but, it's got my full 1st name and middle name as well as my full birthdate engraved on the front... i also think that even though it was special to my grandmom, it's less so for me---even if it didn't have my birhdate, i don't think i'd be inclined to wear my name around my neck. if i had and wore a charm bracelet with lots of other charms, i would add that one to it- but i don't. i will make mine up into an ornament too!!

I thought I did. I seriously thought I married my soulmate. I realized, after marriage, that he is not the good communicator that I thought he was........he was just more of a talker. His whole family is like that, with him being the least like that. There are so many differences between us that I really thought didn't matter because we loved each other so much. The chemistry was unreal. Just a lesson to everyone. Don't ignore the differences. Look at them very closely before marriage and decide whether you can really really live with them. When the chemistry starts to fade away...do you really respect them as a person....their character. I once read............Keep your eyes wide open before marriage and half closed after. I think those are wise words!

I had several Italian charm bracelets. This post made me think about them. I looked for them. I can't find them. Guess what I will be doing this weekend? Searching.

I have a beautiful silver charm bracelet Mom gave me when I turned 16. I've considered moving all the charms to a necklace since it's rather overloaded now. I must get it photographed!

I also have two Italian charm bracelets. One represents my my AF days, and the second one is my "other life." LOL

This shows the charm for Harry, mine and DH's birthstones, and an AF emblem.

Part of the AF braclet, a Nikon camera (my job was photo journalist.) Spanish flag, red dancing shoes, Andorra flag, and lobsters.

The AF bracelet also has a charm for the space shuttle, "mystery" (time in England), a custom photo charm of an F-16, and a party girl (wearing the same dress I bought for a Christmas party!)

I wonder where my charm bracelet is, I haven't thought of it for years and years! Now I'm going to have to search for it this weekend.

One of the first, if no the first, charms I got for it 40 years ago is one that still guides my life: Faith, Hope and Charity.

I have (maybe had) a silver charm bracelet. Loaded with charms from about age 6 to 16, so many I had two on some loops. Haven't seen it in a while. I took a couple of charms off and added my kids birthstones to a silver necklace. Haven't seen that in a while either. Must go looking...I had lost (misplaced) the opal ring my parents gave me when I graduated high school. Then I recently found it. Nothing really disappears.
