Veggie Dip Recipe???

I am having a baby shower for Kalie next weekend. I would like a couple of different dips for some veggies. What is your favorite????

I found a new one that sounds really yummy:

"Broccomole" Dip

Ingred:

Â4 cups chopped fresh broccoli, cooked and chilled

Â1/2 cup reduced-fat sour cream

Â3 to 4 tablespoons finely chopped onion

Â2 tablespoon fat-free mayonnaise

Â4 to 6 tablespoons lemon juice

Â1/2 to 1 teaspoon chili powder

ÂAssorted fresh vegetables or tortilla chips

Directions

ÂIn a food processor, combine the first six ingredients; cover and process until smooth. Refrig for several hours. Serve with vegetables.

I would like to find another 'new' (to me anyway) dip. I get sick of the ranch and dill dips all the time.

My favorites are Taco Dip (with tostitos not veggies!) and Dill dip(with veggies!)

I've never made this but have it saved. Try it first before you make for the shower!

Hot Honey Dip
Ingredients
a.. 1/2 cup honey
b.. 1/2 cup Dijon-style mustard
c.. 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
d.. black pepper
e.. Cayenne pepper, to taste
Beat together honey and remaining ingredients.Use as a dip for pretzels and
bread sticks, fresh or fried vegetables, chicken wings or shrimp.

Warning, this one has Ranch...
Bacon Cheddar Dip
TIME: Prep: 5 min. + chilling

Ingredients:
2 cups (16 ounces) sour cream
1 cup (4 ounces) finely shredded cheddar cheese
1 envelope ranch salad dressing mix
2 to 4 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
Crackers and/or assorted fresh vegetables
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the sour cream, cheddar cheese, salad dressing mix
and bacon. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Serve with crackers
and/or vegetables. Yield: 2-1/2 cups.

Not a dip but sounds good.

Spicy Black Bean Salsa

Yields: 12 servings

INGREDIENTS
. 1 (15 ounce) can black-eyed peas
. 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
. 1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
. 1/2 cup chopped onion
. 1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
. 1 (4 ounce) can diced jalapeno peppers
. 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
. 1 cup Italian-style salad dressing
. 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt

DIRECTIONS
1. In a medium bowl, combine black-eyed peas, black beans, corn,
  onion, green bell pepper, jalapeno peppers and tomatoes. Season with
  Italian-style salad dressing and garlic salt; mix well. Cover, and
  refrigerate overnight to blend flavors.

Here are two that I really like.

FRUIT SPREAD

8 oz. cream cheese
4 oz. crushed pineapple
1 peeled and grated carrot (sm.)
1 peeled and grated apple (sm.)

Combine all ingredients. Cover and chill. Serve with sliced fresh fruit or Ritz & Wheat Thin crackers.

PINEAPPLE CREAM CHEESE DIP

2 8-oz. pkgs. cream cheese, softened
1 8Â½-oz. can crushed pineapple, drained well (put between two paper towels to absorb excess juice)
1Â½ C chopped pecans, optional
Â¼ C finely chopped green pepper
2 T finely chopped onion
1-1Â½ tsps. Season Salt

In medium bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add drained pineapple. If using pecans, set aside 1Â¼ cups to roll the cheese ball in and add the remaining Â¼ C to cheese mixture along with the pepper, onion and Season salt. Mix well. Shape into ball and roll in pecans. Wrap in foil and refrigerate overnight. OR just spoon mixture into a serving dish and sprinkle with some chopped pecans and use as a dip. (I prefer this way.)

Serve with crackers, bread sticks or raw veggies of your choice.

They both sound good to me, but as I said before, I think any ranch recipe would taste even better with minced veggies mixed right in. Maybe you could doctor one of these recipes to your liking. Whiz a can of rinsed and drained beans in a blender with up to Â¼ cup of water for 2 whole minutes and then scrape into a bowl. Here is my family's favorite...I have used it again and again through the years. "Makes 8 Main Dish Servings" Source: "From Ladies Home Journal, March, l977" Yield: "12 cups" Basic Vegetable Soup: 2 or 3 pounds Soup Meat and Bones, Beef Shank w/bone Veal Knuckle (have butcher crack) for a rich brown broth; brown meat and bones in a 350Â° oven. 3 quarts water (can use vegetable liquor) 2 tablespoons salt 1 (28 ounce) can tomatoes, undrained 1 or 2 large onions, chopped 1 cup green peas 1 cup diced potatoes 1 cup sliced carrots 1 cup sliced celery 1 cup baby lima beans 1 cup cut green beans 1/2 cup uncooked medium barley 2 tablespoons choped parsley 1/4 teaspoon crushed thyme 1/4 teaspoon sugar In a large stock pot, place meat, bones, water, crushed thyme (also 8 to 10 pepper corns). Heat to boiling. Simmer 2-1/2 to 3 hours, or until meat is tender. Remove meat and bones. Cut up meat and reserve. Strain broth and skim off fat. Add cut up meat. Add barley, parsley, and simmer for 1/2 hour. Then add vegetables in order required for doneness, peas last....over a period of another 1/2 hour. Take care that vegetables do not become mushy. Hello! Thank you, Marilyn, for at least answering my post. I don't think this particular forum gets much traffic, because this was posted some time ago. Also, I am very interested in your mushroom/tofu burger recipe, but your e-mail address was not on your page. If you do not want to post it on the forum, can you cut and paste the recipe on the forum in reply? While I am not a partciular fan of Boca Burgers, I wanted something that was not as expensive. The Morningstar Grillers in my area are just pennies short of $4.00 a package. At almost $1.00 a patty, that's much more expensive than hamburger. They weren't cheap when Worthington produced Morningstar, but since Kellogg bought them, I can never seem to find them on sale at a reasonable price. Again, the tofu sounds interesting, but I have found unfortunately that while I like it a lot, I have to lace it with soy sauce (when making tofu spread), or fry it until it cannot be called healthy anymore. I have had it fried at a a good Chinese restaurant - I think they called it mandarin tofu - and you could tell it hadn't been boiled in fat because it wasn't puffy, just crispy. I have not been able to replicate this-I guess they used rice starch or something like that. If I could learn how they did it, it would make a decent burger-like patty. Happy gardening! Borealis

I love dill dip for veggies, Glenda.

1 c. sour cream
1/2 c. mayo
1 tsp. onion flakes & parsley
1 tsp. dill weed-I add more because we love dill.
1/2 tsp. Season All seasoning
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/4 tsp. vinegar
1/4 tsp. salt (more or less depending on taste)

In season I add green onions and decrease the onion flakes.

People always ask for the recipe for this one.

ROASTED RED PEPPER DIP

Â½ jar roasted red peppers, drained well
Â½ tsp. sugar
Â¼ tsp. salt
4 oz. cream cheese
Â¼ C light sour cream
1/8 tsp. hot pepper sauce

1 red bell pepper-remove small slice from top and carefully remove seeds

In food processor with metal blade, combine the drained roasted red peppers with sugar, salt, cream cheese, sour cream and hot pepper sauce. Cover and blend until smooth. Taste and add more hot pepper sauce if desired. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours to blend flavors. To serve, spoon into hollowed out red pepper.

This is so good. I have two recipes. Other one is spicier than this one.

Black bean raspberry dip

1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained

1 red onion, chopped

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, sliced thin

1 (20 ounce) jar raspberry salsa
8 ounces monterey jack cheese, shredded

Directions
1Layer in pie pan in order listed.
2Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes or til bubbly.

Best to use scoops or a GOOD cracker to spread it on.

This is good on fruit, especially strawberries. You just can't stop eating it, though.

FRUIT DIP

1 jar marshmallow cream
1 8 oz. cream cheese, softened

Mix well.

I love this one, but I usually use two peppers instead of one. I like it with some heat.

HEARTS OF PALM DIP
makes 2-1/2 cups

INGREDIENTS
6 garlic cloves, unpeeled
1 can (14.4 oz.) hearts of palm, drained, rinsed and finely chopped
2 Tbsp. chopped fresh cilantro
4 tsp. KnorrÂ® Reduced Sodium Chicken flavor Bouillon
1 serrano chili, seeded and finely chopped
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup Hellmann'sÂ® or Best FoodsÂ® Real Mayonnaise
1 Tbsp. lime juice

PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 350Â°F. Wrap garlic in aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes or until garlic is very tender; let cool. Peel and mash. Combine garlic and remaining ingredients in a small bowl. Chill about 30 minutes.

I have a Carmel Apple Dip recipe that is great if you're interested? Serve with apple wedges

Ohhhhhhh Connie!! I love Carmel Apple Dip...do you use the Watkins carmel flavoring, brown sugar and cream cheese?? I had thought about that, but I am making Snicker Salad....with Granny Smith apples in it, so I will skip the dip...this time.

Dill Dip

1 Qt. Helman's mayo, no substitues, no light
1/2 pint sour cream
1 T. dill weed
1 T. diced onion---I used dried
1 t. parsely
1 T. accent (100% MSG)---I left it out

Blend well. Refrigerate several hours, over night is better, to let the flavors blend. Makes about 3/4 quart.
