I think the important thing is that you said you have your heart set on it! Let's get out the mental scale: put "splashing" on one side. Put "heart set on it" on the other side. Which side of the scale tips lower? Do you hate splashes more than you love the faucet?

I have a wall mount faucet with a deep 10" sink. The faucet is about 16 inches above the bottom of the sink. When I turn it on hard (not full blast--just hard), if it isn't lined up with the disposal, it splashes teeny weeny splashes like crazy. Usually all over the area behind the sink. Actually, the worst splashing comes when I stick a dish under the faucet to rinse it. Then the water can shoot off to the side and make a mess. Whee!

But I wouldn't change the sink or the faucet b/c of the splashes. I just try to be careful.

Villagebetsy, I have a Perrin & Rowe bridge faucet, and splashing has never been something I ever even thought about. After reading your question, I walked over to my sink and turned on the faucet. No splashing as the water hits the bottom of my Shaws sink, but I think it has to do with how faucets are made, and the fact that they all have aerators, or whatever those things are called that are on the spouts, that are designed to keep them from splashing. Don't they all have them, no matter what brand? It has nothing to do with the depth of your sink or type of sink.

You seem to be concerned with the arc of the faucet. I just went and measured my faucet, and the spout is about 7.5 inches above the counter height. That can't be much different or higher, than other faucets.

Maybe I'm not understanding your question, but splashing is just not an issue for us.

I don't beleive the height of a faucet has much to do with splashing: the extra inch or two of fall isn't enough to cause the water to pick up more momentum via gravity.

I have a very high arc moen and no splashing at all.

The angle at which it hits the sink, water pressure, volume, etc. all are more important factors.

If anyone is having issues, I'd reccomend backing off the pressure by partially closing the valves under the sink, or changing the areator.

All currently manufactured residential faucets are designed to deliver water at the standard rate of 2.2 gallons per minute at 60 psi. (Unlike it was in the old days, no higher volume output is allowed...at 60 psi.)

hmmmm... I wonder why some of you have splashing and others not. Could it really be that Perrin and Rowe faucets are designed so they won't splash? (I find that hard to believe). I bring up the issue because we had dinner at a friend's and she complained about the splashing she had with her faucet. She did not have the kind of faucet I'm getting, but it did have a high arc. And she had a standard depth sink like the one I'm planning to get (not sure if it was overmount or undermount. Mine will be undermount, so the granite will add about 1.5" - 2", bringing the total depth to about 9.5".

This is interesting! I have a new Chicago Faucet, wall mount. Technically "commercial," although I think it is identical in structure to the "residential" version that they make of the same faucet.

I also have the Shaw's sink. As I said before, my faucet is about 16 inches from the bottom of my sink. And if I turn the water on hard, I sure do get a lot of splashing! Mostly on the counter behind the sink (my faucet reaches slightly less than halfway). But sometimes on me as well.

Hmmmmm. Why am I all wet? And the rest of you are dry? I just assumed you all were wet too.

Francy - is 16" the highest point of the faucet or from where the water comes out?

After further investigations...

16 inches is from where the water actually comes out, to the bottom of the sink. That is the full length of the water stream. But last night I donned a raincoat, and did some experimenting. If the sink is EMPTY, and the water is on hard, no splashing comes out of the deep sink. Sure, it splashes at the bottom a bit, but nothing escapes the sink. However, as soon as anything is in the sink for the water to hit, then the water will splash off the item (and usually shoot off to the side). When I wash my hands, the water splashes all over the back of the sink.

But I still maintain that you have your heart set on this faucet, so you should go with it! We owners learn how to minimize splashing. The only time a big problem presents itself is when, say, a guest attempts to rinse a plate under the faucet. If the plate is held at the wrong angle--look out for a shower!!

I have the Grohe Ladylux Cafe Pull-Out. When I first installed it it took forever to fill up a pot. It was irritating. It got so I wanted to change the faucet. But I had NO splashing. I called the company and they walked me thru how to remove the piece from the faucet that slows down the flow of the water (water saver). Boy the water that streams now is remarkable. Do I like it? NO. It splashes like crazy.It doesn't matter the arch or height my faucet. If the pressure is to high it will splash all the walls and go down the front of the cabinets.I installed the tapmaster and I set it so the pressure isn't as strong and that solved the problem. I would not live with out my TAPMASTER.
