I was going to buy the Jenn-Air JFC2089 custom panel french door frig for our new house. However after doing some research I found that this refrigerator comes with the handles as shown on the Jenn-Air website. These handles screw into the refrigerator cabinet and the custom panels need to be cut to allow the handles to be installed through the panel and into the door. Custom handles can not be used with this model. So I opted for the KitchenAid KFC022EVBL instead. This model does not come with any handles and allows for any custom handles to be attached to the cabinet panel. I've had this frig installed for about 4 months and it's been great.

Call the dealer ASAP and make them replace that sucker! Don't delay. New fridges aren't noisy like that. Something is wrong. Maybe it's out of balance but I would make them fix it with one visit or make them replace it. Trust me you do not want to live with a noisy lemon. Good luck!

Jeri - We just purchased the 950TT this morning from HD. It's last year's model and is now down to $1849 @ HD and $1844 @ Lowes. The 960 is this years model. It's the one with the Tilt Freezer Door. There are some other sutble differences as well and some not so sutble. Other ways to visually tell the two apart is by the display. The 950 has individual buttons while the 960 allows selections with contacts hidden under a membrane,... or is it membrain. Can't remember!! The 950 is accented with light gray plastic and the 960 sports black plastic. The 950 is Titanium while the 960 is Stainless,... TT vs ST. And the 960's internal shelfing and compartments looks a lot more modern. I was lucky (as far as price is concerned),... I got mine (new in box from warehouse) from HD for $1475.99 after a Lowes price match + 10% and some other discounting. $1604.80 after taxes and delivery charges. Not bad! Does anyone know of any performance or quality difference between the two? Stuff deeper than the eye can see?

A couple of things to keep in mind with today's refrigerators. You can expect them to last, on average about 8 to 10 years before they need to be replaced. Another interesting fact is that today's modern refrigerators don't operate below 50 degrees F. That means no more garage refrigerators. I'm shopping for new appliance now because I'm remodeling my kitchen. My old refrigerator is in pristine condition and works perfectly. But it's white and would look out of place in my new kitchen. Having said that, I'm seriously considering having the doors powder coated or spray painted at an auto body shop to a new color. Except for energy efficienty, everything about my refrigerator is superior to what's being sold today. And even on the energy efficiency front, it will only consume about $15 more dollars per YEAR than a newer model. My recommendation would be to stay with GE, Whirlpool, or Frigidaire simply because they have better parts and servicing across the US. Samsung and LG parts and service can vary wildly depending upon where you live. Since the expected life of a refrigerator is so low, I'd say by the least expensive model that's meets you needs and pass on the expensive bells and whistles. It might also make economic sense in some cases to fork over the 7K+ for a built in refrigerator that will have a serviceable life of 20+ years. You could easily spend that amount replacing and servicing standalone refrigerators in that same 20+ years window.
