Are touch faucets worth the extra $$$?

I'm trying to decide whether to spend the extra money to get the Brizo Talo touch faucet or get the Delta Leland (one hole version with handle on faucet) which is not touch. The Talo is $581 and the Leland is $263. I also need to buy prep sink faucets to match or coordinate with which ever main sink faucet I buy.

Does anyone have a touch faucet and would you spend the extra money over again?

You might want to compromise on the Delta Pilar, which is usually available for not much more than the Leland, if you shop around.

We installed the Brizo Talo Touch faucet on our Farmsink and the smaller version (also touch) on our prepsink, this past August. I picked the venetian bronze finish. I love both faucets and I am not sorry I spent the money. They look beautiful and work extremely well. The touch feature is great for cooking. It also attracts the most attention of almost all of the components of our kitchen, by visitors. Everyone wants to play with the fancy new toy!

In the Kitchen forum, people who have touch faucets like them. In the Kitchen forum, people who have foot pedals like them. There are elegant foot pedals, too. No batteries required. In dental offices there are silent faucets that open and close with foot operated controls. People who don't have any of the above often say they wouldn't want them (a reaction to anything one does not have and cannot install because one already has something working). Hth

"You get what you pay for...dragged out to justify the price"... I disagree. Sometimes you DO get what you pay for. Sometimes spending a little extra on something that is built or engineered a little better is actually worth the money. And sometimes, you're spending money on just the name or a look. If you choose that knowing that the item isn't really built better than a less expensive counterpart, then that's your choice. And sometimes you're taken in by the price, thinking that it's better when it's really not--and that's where you have to put in due diligence researching. The information is out there, you just have to find it. "I think sometimes we get a little carried away with trying to find the best of the best..." For most of us, I'm not so sure that it's wanting "The best of the best" vs. wanting to get the best value for the money we are willing to spend on any given item. I'm totally willing to spend money (within budget) in order to get things that simply do what they are supposed to do, do it well, have a good track record for reliability, and are appealing to my eye--pretty much in that order. I chose where to spend to get a few 'extra' functions to feed my TKO tendencies and my passion for cooking, and where I can save on things I really don't care all that much about. I'm not sure anything that I have in my house could be considered the 'best of the best' in general. But for the most part, I bought the 'best', according to my parameters, that I can afford. That's good enough for me, and I am willing to let others make their own choices according to their budgets without judgment. That said... $10K for a faucet in the kid's bathroom....holy WOW! LOL. If the cost is an issue, chrome is the best choice. We got a new Ticor 16 gage undermount stainless sink from overstock.com and it was brushed stainless. I tried to match the finish so the sink area looked "organized", so all fixtures including the air gap cover, the soap dispenser, instant hot water, and even the ring of the garbage disposer were ordered in brushed stainless. It is pure aesthetics. I got us a Grohe pull out Ladylux Plus and we love it. Got the best deal at buyplumbing.net. I shopped all online sales places to find the other stuff. Although it is likely that the original poster might have replaced whatever fixtures she selected, I would add that Delta is a high quality product and the sole reason to "upgrade" to Brizo would be aesthetics. If you can afford it without sacrificing other elements of your remodel, then why not as most people wouldn't be at this site asking questions if we didn't care about aesthetics passionately. When I remodeled I opted for "expensive" fixtures based on aesthetics (and of course functionality and quality) and haven't regretted it. On the other hand, prior to the remodel my kitchen sink was the ugliest standard cheap Moen faucet and it last for years without issues of any kind. Also when allocating money in terms of priorities some elements can not be changed easily and other elements are relatively easy to change. A kitchen faucet is easily changed whereas flooring or cabinets aren't.

Have you consider tapmaster? You can use ANY faucet and it's handsfree. We love ours! It's a bit pricier - I think around $300 - 350.

I considered the Pilar, but the style doesn't really fit my kitchen. Thanks for the feedback ruthie13. Bostonpam - I hadn't looked at the tapmaster, but we will probably not go that route.

ruthie13 - Do you happen to have any pictures you could post of your faucets installed? I'm also planning to get the venetian bronze finish. I've almost got myself convinced to order them today.

I wanted the Delta Pilar for the style and it doesn't come without the touch feature! Some times I love it and sometimes like when I'm cleaning and it comes off and on it drives me crazy! It bothered DH so much one day he removed the batteries. Then, of course, I missed it. So I guess you could say it is a love/hate relationship in my house!

I got the Chicago Faucet's version of the Tapmaster from ebay for much less than $100.

Be sure you get one that was manufactured in/after the later half of 2010, not one of the early production models. They were plagued with some tech bugs.

Nollie- I responded on another thread about Brizo, but I wanted to be sure you saw this. I ordered the Talo for my prep and Copper farmhouse sink also in the Bronze finish (I think I referred to it as ORB in my previous post). Did not order Touch version. Do you have yours installed yet?

Anyone else have Brizo or the Talo? I also ordered Brizo for the Master Bath, so I would love to hear some reviews of the brand.
