Has anyone painted cabinets using paint from Home Depot?
Comments (13)I am using Behr primer with paint on my cabinets and in the process of wet-sanding them down to a nice polish. We like the paint color and just stayed with Behr cause this is what we started with. After a few coats, the paint definitely needs time to dry between coats. I made the mistake of putting one on top of the other after a few days of drying and the paint stuck together. But once their are hung on the cabinets we will use those gel pads on our doors to prevent the doors from rubbing against the bases. All in all- I wish I would have done more research on the paint- but we just stuck with the paint to keep it uniformed. I finally gathered enough courage to talk to a local painter about getting a better polish on my cabinets and he told me about wet-sanding! Do your research and another thing he told me; paint with a brush and THEN back roll... don't dip your roller in the paint- just back roll... Before In the process......See MoreAnyone has had Brookwood kitchen cabinets for a while now?
Comments (2)I attributed it to my family being rough, plus it is still in much better shape than what I saw in another house with high end custom kitchen - their paint finish didn’t last two years. It was my impression that any kitchen with painted finish will require paint touch up every few years. Am I wrong thinking that?...See MoreHas anyone had or currently have Forevermark cabinets?
Comments (40)Mine are just being installed. Panels are 1/4 inch not 1)2 inch. I bought the painted ones in a cream. I did not thoroughly read the part that they tell you different color cabinets are not all same paint quality. Yes the paint process is more of a pressed on skin. For mild dings it's better for hard wacks, your cabs are toast. Just drilling holes for sink Drain the wrap painted finish peeled off. I spent a lot of money on these and can see the future of more chips and dings. If I had to do it over maybe the stain finish is better. What I find misleading is their description of the paint process, at no point do they mention it's more of a pressed wrap painted job. If that is not what it is- than their paint process just does not adhere with the base wood. If I had to do it over would choose a stain . And maybe order extra doors for areas that may delaminate. I don't think this paint peel issue is just Forevermark, it's the newer automated paint process for massed produced cabinets which they show you on their website. At this point I just have to careful....See MoreHas anyone had peeling paint with Grimslov or Bobdyn doors?
Comments (1)Grimslov is a thermofoil plastic wrap. Bodbyn is a plastic paint. Neither is able to be touched up if wear and tear happen....See MoreUser
